See if any law firms want to take your case pro bono. Try to surf the net for anyone who has spoken about campus date rape. You'll know who may be worth trying and whom to avoid whether by individual or by law firm. Also appeal to your fraternity. Being falsely accused of date rape is a big risk for college students. Ask at your university law school, if they have free services that you can access. You have a great girlfriend.

What you call learned helplessness, I would call entitlement. Never wanting to learn how to do something so that you have an excuse to have someone "wait on you" demonstrates one's ability to get others to do things for them. It also makes a great excuse for not doing something that they don't want to do. If I can teach myself how to do something on my own, I will do it so as not to be beholden to someone else who has the power to grant my wish or not. I guess those who still want to depend on o…

Daily mail is always going to publish soemthing polarzing so I would read it just out of curiosity. Women in their 20s aren't necessarily more attracive. Many of them are fat because they believe that they are empowered. However, they become angry because few guys are willing "to see the beauty inside." And then they get tired of the fact they can only attract older men. Plus if I were a guy, I would be very scared to marry someone in their 20s. They could easily have 2 kids on this guy and then…

Sacrificing his freedom and youth, the years he should be "finding himself" and learning the world, for a commitment to a depreciating asset, I find this interesting since I came of age in the 70s at a time when "good girls didn't." my parents put the fear of God in me that if I EVAH became pregnant out of wedlock, I would never find a decent man to marry me. what happened to you men these days? There are a lot of women out there who wait until marriage to have children. and who wait until they …

Your time is valuable. If he wants to spend time with you, then he needs to tell his ex that he has a girlfriend and she can no longer expect around the clock attention.

First of all, the only ethnic group that has black hair naturally are the Japanese. Everyone else with dark hair has brown or dark brown hair if it practically looks black. Otherwise, you will look like Edward Scissorhands. One thing about habits concerning beauty, I think it's more important to look at the long term. How many times can you bleach your hair before it stops growing? Even Deborah Harry of Blondie said she had to stop bleaching her hair because it stopped growing past her ears. Lik…

If you are looking for a boyfriend, I would be concerned that others may misinterpret your behaviors together and assume that you two are dating. A lot of people will make that decision without consulting you first.

Yeah, late 20s and only knows this woman for 18 months. How do they know each other? Work? School? Church? club? Just remember, when you are partner in a monogamous relationship, long before you two marry or even live together, this is what is expected of you: losing the opportunity to date other men. the necessity to let your bf "vet" your male friends. IOW, if you went out with one,he would probably want to know a bit about your relationship with him. coordinating your free time with your bf. …

I read in Time magazine a couple of years how white women in their 50s were dying. These days, 50s are very young to die without disease or cause. The article attributed the trend to a mix of addiction (alcohol, opiods, etc.) and depression. These sorts of deaths can look like suicide. Socially speaking, I think we live in the best of times. Ethnic barriers are done so there are fewer "Romeo and Juliet" scenarios playing out. Both men and women are no longer pressured to procreate. And there are…

I agree with the others that there can be incomprehensible undercurrents among social circles and this explains why squirreldentist's experience. I'd like to point out that one can express disapproval through non verbal communication. That is avoiding eye contact; physically moving away or turning away from the offensive person; pretending not to hear them and so on. People who have mastered the glare or the raised eyebrow are ahead of the game. The beauty of non verbal communication are: Plausi…

I meant: "...... even though my boyfriend is rich."

On this matter, women don't tell the truth because it would be very unPC to do so. Admit that 1. a guy with money would be nice -- when they would prefer not to work themselves 2. with muscles -- when they're out of shape as well 3. who's a bit alpha -- when they claim they want someone who will have a dialogue with her. The line I find the most ironic is: "Money is not important to me...... even my boyfriend is rich." Hoo-kay.

The above is BS. It takes more than good looks to attract a woman for the long term. (FTR, I'm a woman.)

I think one needs to be realistic here. At professional networking events, people are looking for others who can move their career forward. Keep that in mind when to you talk to someone.

I think you are correct. there is a balance to strike between being "genuinely" interested in a person at that networking event and not appearing desperate to meet people. When I go out, I try to go events where there is a speaker or a program, maybe even a game of some sort so conversation can start with the evening activities. It helps..

Why would their experiences be outdated? Is what you'll learn over the next 20-30 years going to be useless to share because it will be outdated? With that attitude you are exactly the kind of person that someone should ignore.

Be more evaluative in your approach. Does the advice make sense. In the situations that you're in, has it worked for you? Does it work for others? If yes, can you identify small differences in their situation that makes it work for them. People who have what you want ..... what are they doing that you might be able to do as well? Even then you have to be careful. Many students brag that they don't study .... when in fact they do .. and ace the tests. A lot of people pretend they don't want somet…

I think it is childish to ignore your dad (or teacher, coach, mentor) because you have become a man. You're right. As a human being, you do not ignore these people. However, you can't continue to follow advice based on someone's outdated experiences. I think it is arrogant --and worse -- for someone to assume that their advice should be heeded just simply because of who they are. And btw, teacher, coach, mentor...... those are people we choose to be in our lives. Let's add therapist to that as w…

I agree with you. there are may reasons why. the world has changed and continues to do so. Job search advice, forexample, changes constantly. Even in the 2000s, my parents felt that doing things online was the lazy way to look for a job. ie "You ought to put on a suit and just go down there." Even pointing out that applying online is what I am asked to do; do otherwise would show that I cannot follow instructions ....... didn't change their mind. I suspect that has a lot to do with the fact that…

I'm really trying to understand the difference between neediness and vulnerability. Since you used the term, tell me what it means to you and how it is different from neediness.

"Unfortunately I tend to hold people (regardless of gender) at arms length for a while until I feel that I can trust them enough to let down my guard and be vulnerable. " How does this manifest itself? IMO, being independent is good. You don't call people all hours of the day or night because you need to talk, for example. Some people like the mystery that comes with unwrapping a gift. So I don't get what is so bad about holding people at arms length. Also, given what you have written here, you …
