It makes sense, but unwanted touches are a whole different ballgame than words. That guy is on disability forever if what your saying is what we follow. I'd rather people be accommodating to his condition and endure a little than throw the guy on gov't aid.

Comedies don't upset me when they have questionable subject matter because that just means that they have bad jokes. Violent video games don't turn people into murderers, and bad jokes don't damage society.

That would be an interesting social experiment... Forcing all women 18+ to sign up with the Selective Service... I wonder how many would become felons out of protest!

We need to ignore equality and take care of women first. Yeah I didn't say that anywhere. I said basically, 'something good is happening, let's get on board and make sure we include and protect the men that are getting involved' You don't need to be so patronizing "maybe you don't understand what equality means." You're wanting to abandon all of the men participating with the women because they're standing with women. That's the sexist thing. I'm in Mens Rights because of the plight of males But…

Misrepresenting me doesn't make me any less correct or you any more so. You've stood here and argued against equality and compassion. You are part of the problem. I hope you fall silent so that Men can get taken care of sooner rather than later.

By the time you've figured out who deserves what none of it will matter any more, and we'll all be dead. You're clearly bending your way of thinking to excuse denying compassion to people that you don't want to provide it to. Good day, sir.
/r/MensRights23/10/17 01:59 PM

That's a great thing to say, but I think it's something worth eradicating as much as possible, and it's still way too pervasive to be considered 'not a problem' by all but the most selfish pragmatists.

Fuck. That might as well be rape.
/r/MensRights20/10/17 09:16 PM

Yup- I was just wondering what some of those ramifications for the boys would have been. It could be horrible for them now- or they could be nonplussed. Either way, there's enough damage potentially done that wouldn't be readily obvious... that's why sex with a minor is illegal- not because it will be negative for the minor every time- but because there is so much risk involved for them that we don't believe they can be allowed to be legally responsible for.
/r/MensRights20/10/17 03:56 AM

Well that's fair. Semantics are hard. I would never say "forced himself on me" and not mean rape.

I watched his Barbara Walters clip and the funny thing is he said Michael Jackson was the only person that never put him at risk in that way. Funny thing is that Michael always seemed like too much of an asexual kid trapped in a man's body to ever be up to no good. Really fucking suspicious circumstances regarding the claims against him, too

If you ask a feminist a question, you will get a feminist answer. I am advocating using #MeToo to encourage equality in the discussion by including and supporting the men who do choose to participate. And the women that have suffered deserve solidarity and compassion as well. Yes, modern feminism is harmful and unhelpful. If we look at #MeToo as an avenue for compassion then it can be a good thing. If we look at it as another feminist-run plot/tool for their agenda then it wont help anyone.

We must be having a different conversation than I'm reading... If you've been asked to: apologize for being a man, or to celebrate when some other man apologizes on behalf of all men then all I have to say is that I'm sorry that you had to have a conversation with that lame excuse for a human. I don't want you to do that, and anyone that asks you to- in my opinion -has their head up their ass.

I'm not saying it's healthy- I'm saying it's up to us if it is. If we have healthy dialogue then it was a good thing. If we have horrific, polarizing, dialogue then it was a bad thing. I understand your perspective on why it could be bad- but I can also see some of the good it has done already for people that were victimized. In another way, it has also helped me get a better understanding of my own personal struggles. If you think that the 'predictable flood of attention and validation' is what…

Honestly, I prefer good research and solid statistics as well- but I think it serves a different purpose. If the movement starts healthy discourse on the topic and gives a few people the ability to feel better and maybe get the help they need to overcome a tragic event, then i think it's worth it.

Victim walks onto social media stage and says: "#MeToo" You read the post- you're part of the Audience- that's the Group A I am meaning. I guess what you're leaving me with is that you don't care enough about the guy who is sharing his story and getting attacked to help. I get it- you don't want to get attacked yourself. It's selfish, but I understand why you'd be motivated by protecting yourself- we all do that to some degree. You still see the only audience for #MeToo as a specific group of pe…

The people participating in #MeToo aren't even remotely all feminists. Hating something and not participating because of who started it is understandable, but ultimately just an excuse to avoid something.
/r/MensRights19/10/17 06:06 PM

It's about awareness of the pervasiveness of sexual violence and misconduct. At least as far as I have seen it executed- the people that started it may have had other things in mind. You must be in the wrong circles if you're seeing all that "third wave feminism" in the stories that people have been telling. It's all been experiential from what I have witnessed.
/r/MensRights19/10/17 05:59 PM
1

Yeah, I can definitely understand why you'd feel that way. We're away from the original point, which was people being attention-seeking. They're not. They just want to heal. The ones that just want attention are few and far between- it's what I choose to believe anyway -in this day and age it wouldn't be hard to find lots of reasons to not trust anyone.
/r/MensRights19/10/17 05:49 PM

I'm saying be the next person that they interact with, or interrupt the damaging interaction if you can. Teach the learner that not all people in group A are the same... You're making up excuses not to care about people :(

If you walked into a room of 10 people and one person started shouting at you to get out, then you would feel unwelcome, but that doesn't mean that the other 9 didn't want you to be there. If the 9 other people stand there and do nothing then you'll probably feel hurt and leave. We just need to make sure that the men sharing their stories know that they are welcome. A really bitchy and loud 10% shouldn't be defeating the 90% that are there for the right reasons.
/r/MensRights19/10/17 05:36 PM

You can't ask people to help you first before you help them. Also, don't let the current feminist movement get you down- they don't represent anywhere close to most women. Being loud makes you heard- that's it. For a good long response if you're interested.

Check in with yourself about why you think they're attention seeking. I don't think that's why they're doing it at all. In fact, one of the biggest issues with the topic of Sexual Assault in general is that people are afraid or unwilling to talk about it.

Tbh your coworker wasn't telling men off for sharing their stories- they specifically cited statistics claiming that men are abused significantly more than women in a sexual way. I'm not aware of any legitimate statistics that show this- and common sense says that once you are an adult, a woman is at far greater risk to forced actions simply because of being physically weaker than a large portion of the population. I must admit, what she did was not just really stupid, but morally wrong- however I can't help but feel jealous of those students. I wonder what their experience was... was it consensual? I would assume so. My friends and I talked about the hot teachers when we were that age, and would have honored any of our peers that was able to hook up with the hot teacher as a hero. 1-2 years, even at that age, isn't too much of a difference. 'Mentally ill' meaning 'struggling and needing professional medical help' and 'mentally ill' meaning 'not responsible for your actions' are two very distinctly different things. As far as my understanding goes, in the US we legally we only really recognize the latter, and rightfully so. To me it's like alcohol. Being drunk should absolve you of zero responsibility- you are responsible regardless of willful intoxication. So I see mental illness as similar, you may be struggling and need help, but…

I was just trying to point out that anxiety and depression are experienced differently for people with those disorders. Being a little anxious is normal and anyone can handle that. Having your mind wrecked because of an anxiety disorder or depression is because you're experiencing something different than that- not that you can't handle any anxiety or any sadness

That's kind of what I'm saying, though. Christians may think that homosexuality is a problem, but what do the gays think? Is it a greater issue because if offends one groups sensibilities? What kind of culture do we have? Traditional family values in the US say that the man brings home the bacon and the mom cooks it and takes care of the kids. If mom's don't have them in the home at all, their purpose in the family unit is unfulfilled. In the case of divorce, then, it makes logical sense to give kids to mom and have Dad pa…
