I love this question. I agree everyone makes things sound so transactional, bu maybe in the end they are. I the way you put it -> "I want resources and sex to both be given freely and generously through good faith within my relationship." If someone else wants that as well from their partner, that's what they'll put out. It's transactional, but not withholding, if that makes sense.

I disagree with people saying it's no big deal. Abortions can be traumatic. However, also disagree with barring access to abortions. I can be pro-choice and not celebrate abortions. If a woman is in situation where she thinks a child will be detrimental to her life, then she should have the choice to abort the pregnancy based on her judgment alone. The celebration is up to her, though I wouldn't encourage it.

Liz Warren wrote the book on it. It's less about feminism and more about how suburban families are paying for a good education through expensive housing, which requires both parents to work to afford a home in a good school district AND ALSO cover childcare costs because both parents are working. "Astonishingly, sending mothers to work has made families more vulnerable to financial disaster than ever before. Today's two-income family earns 75% more money than its single-income counterpart of a g…

What? I'd think about this if the shoe was on the other foot. You get out of school, and get to see your sis/bff that you haven't seen all year on the cheap. Of course I'm going to make time to see her. But this isn't a zero sum game. You should want him to have quality time with his brother as much as you want quality time with him. I think what should come out of this is he makes plans to see you as well. But you have a whole summer.

I don't mean to be harsh. But I would stop pitying yourself. You sound as if your situation is excruciatingly unique - which is self deception. It's not. Be grateful for what you have. You have clear skin and you're thin. That's like HALF the battle. Compliment and appreciate your body for what it does for you on the daily. Seriously, your body is more than something to look at - it is what serves you in this life. Take care of it, and treat it well. Don't depend on other people for validation -…

100 Agree - Also try one of those online stylist sites like stitch fix - or get a consultation at nordstrom/bloomingdales. Tell them you want to look sexy but modest, they can pick stuff that will fit you and accentuate your beauty in a way you'll feel comfortable. Once you understand what works for you - you can do it yourself.

Solid. Well thought out comment. This is exactly how class-equivalent racism works too - don't get mad at the "other" get mad at the system.

You assume all Black women act the same. Black women are least desirable to you, not all people. Black women have been deemed less desirable by some societies for their fucked up belief that race predicates behavior, intelligence, and apparently beauty. Not because of their actions. CATER 2 U, SUGA MAMA, HALO, LOVE ON TOP, DANCE FOR YOU Lauryn, Mary, Kesha, and Kelly were all mistreated by the men they sang about so - I don't think it's a problem with the women. GIRL BYE - with your self hating …

There is something intelligent about her $350 million though. I'm glad you think that Beyonce being a sexual, intelligent, woman who shakes her ass is just "being." But clearly y'all still vilify her for doing something she loves and say that she's embarrassing her husband and is an "unaware imbecile" for doing so. Rather than just letting her be. Jay is not embarrassed - Jay has "the hottest chick in the game wearing his chain." Jay gets to go on tour with his wife - work on something they both…

Thanks for the h/t - I also think that Blue Ivy shouldn't have been there. It's completely fine to be sexual - but I don't think that was the place for a 2 year old to be at all. Re: The term Feminist - focuses on the equality of women in relation to men in society because if not, women's needs would get lost in the shuffle of other rights and equality movements. Even within Feminism - the loudest voice (with the most access) wins. Which in American Feminism is the voice of White middle class wo…

You've missed Beyonce's feminism completely. She can be sexual AND intelligent. Shake her ass AND run her own business. Be a faithful and dutiful wife & mother AND be the biggest popstar in the world. She's not trying to fit into any boxes or worry about disrespecting anyone. She's living her life by rules that she creates, making herself, her husband, and family happy living by the code they've set for themselves. Her whole album is about how much she LOVES her husband, her career, and her chil…

Full Speech. "We teach girls to shrink themselves To make themselves smaller We say to girls, "You can have ambition But not too much You should aim to be successful But not too successful Otherwise you will threaten the man." Because I am female I am expected to aspire to marriage I am expected to make my life choices Always keeping in mind that Marriage is the most important Now marriage can be a source of Joy and love and mutual support But why do we teach girls to aspire to marriage And we d…

Exactly. Someone in the comments on the post said that too. While she was around, that never would have happened and both of them would have stayed miserable. Now he's happy and living his life, and she's still miserable AND scheming on his bliss. Fuck her. I was appalled when she said she works in HR and makes 45K a year. #FacePalm.

For what its worth....this brand of "Feminism" is slacktivism. But, true feminist movements that campaign for real issues – such as better access to birth control, the right to vote, equal pay in the workplace when we're working the same jobs...have helped women greatly and we can't negate it under the umbrella of "Feminist Twitter Slacktivism." You've got the MLKs and the fucking Jesse Jackson's in every group. The best antidote to a talking head is the mute button.

I think that may be a self-worth thing. Esp. if she was his sidecorn. It's like, "I know I'm desirable because other men tell me so, and validate me by buying me drinks. But I don't think much of myself, really, so I need a dude to make me feel like shit after I fuck him." [unexpected self-reflection (x_x) ]
