I stayed in a marriage where my wife was cheating on me and treated me horribly for 3 years so I can be there for my kids and I have a bond with them that can never be broken. A year ago she handed me divorce papers, almost done now with divorce and also going on 4 years at this point and it’s heartbreaking for the kids but I did my best and I didn’t give up. I put my children’s happiness ahead of my own despite how many times I wanted to give up. It was the Jesus Christ that I was able to keep …

That’s the wrong question, is your happiness more important than your kids is the correct question. If u leave then the kid will have a screwed up, upbringing. If you stay you can be there everyday for them which is the best we can do for our kids If she is abusive or druggy or alcoholic well that’s a different convo

If your saying your kid is number one then you stay no matter how much it stinks, when we have kids we choose to put ourselves last and that does not change just because we are not treated good or loved back, we made vows and we need to stand behind them. If she wants to leave then let her but you stand

The problem is the gfs are faking that they are happy and aren’t really, they are miserable, it’s a divorce disease that is spreading fast. From a comment above, it was like my wife was a 16 girl living in my household, well a rebellious child, she came and went as she pleased. She was nothing more than a big sis to our kids, showed up when she felt like it. Weird thing is she thought and thinks she’s going great and that she’s always here. It’s like her reality is way different than what the tr…

So I would ask myself this question, my stbxw says she deserves to be happy. Then I ask her don’t the kids deserve to be happy, no one can answer the question because if we think we deserve to be happy then we are saying our happiness comes over the kids. So this is where I don’t care about my circumstances or how unhappy I am or what I think I deserve. True love is to put others ahead of ourselves. It’s a sad situation all around and I’m not saying you but other people seem to be so quick to mo…

Hey op do u have kids with her?

I say this kindly but your basically saying you can’t handle 50/50 but then you don’t want to pay full Child support, it’s best for the kids that you see them 50/50, it’s not about us anymore it’s about what’s best for them, maybe try for a different job first, if u give up 50/50 u may never get it back

Love her anyway. You made vows to love her unconditionally regardless of how she treats you. Don’t get your peace and joy from her, be kind to her and respect her and go about your life and if she wants to leave then let her. I can’t change her and I can only change and work on me and that’s what I did through Jesus Christ and reading the Bible and he gave me strength to love her and to stick it out and be there for the kids. I have peace and joy even though she’s leaving me and probably taking …

Omgosh the bottom paragraph is spot on and exactly what I went through, just mind boggling lol I don’t mean to laugh but so true and just awful

Oh wow that’s really awesome that he did that. I don’t mind doing what’s fair but the system is really to bankrupt the husband, it’s just not right. Where I am even 50/50 is still full child support which doesn’t make sense to me. I went to court two weeks ago and I’m waiting for the judge to send email with custody outcome, I’m surprised it’s taking this long

Hey how on earth do you not have to pay child support? Just curious and awesome though, happy for you regarding 50/50

Hey the problem is me putting myself first is the reason my marriage failed. I think this is the biggest mistake we can make. Putting others before ourselves is the true test of love. Life is always gonna have ups and downs, but we can’t give up and just move on. I told myself I will stay as long as she wants and I waited around and loved her for 3 full years before she served me. Also very important is my happiness doesn’t come from her and because I loved her I had peace even through this tria…

Hey fight for 50/50 custody, this has become alot more common lately, it will get better, just keep putting in the effort

Hey sorry to hear and I’m going through the same thing, I did something a little different and I’m telling you I have more peace than her. I wrote an email and basically took all the blame for the marriage failing, what I realized is I can’t blame anyone for something they chose to do or act a certain way. I can only control my actions and that’s what I apologized for. I encouraged her in the email and didn’t say one negative thing, instead of saying you were a good mom and wife, I said you ARE.…

Yeah and the more kind and loving I was to her the more peace I had regardless of how she treated me. I don’t do it to receive anything back I do it because it’s what’s right

Open the Bible and your answers will be in there and the Lord will be your strength, I got my papers 8 months ago and believe me I’m doing better then she is

lol regarding getting married, time will tell but I feel like I was standing for all men everywhere in court because we do get screwed and all the laws favor them actually not entirely true because some courts do 50/50 custody as standard, the problem is they assume the woman is doing it all and the woman gets a lottery ticket while getting Botox and nails done everyday and us men are living in campers. I was there for my kids and I spent everyday with them while my wife played and made herself …

Hey I get totally what you’re saying, I’m just gonna stay single for awhile, not even date, just be there for my kids and that’s it.

You know my wife did have another guy but she also said. I want purpose I want respect I want to work and I need to fine myself, kind of like the feminist movement where they don’t want to be a wife and a mom but they want to be free, I can’t make anyone else happy until I make myself happy, these are all just lies, I chose to put my happiness aside and chose todo what’s best for the children. This life is not about me and I will put myself last. They say I deserve to be happy and my response is…

I know what you’re saying but she may not even file, he doesn’t want this she does. I lived with my wife for the last 3 years and 8 months. She filed 8 months ago. It gave me all that time to greater my relationship with our kids and I learned how to love unconditionally even though I did find out she was with someone behind my back and I was there for kids. I learned that my wife is not my happiness with that said I was taking notes and I was doing 95 percent of the parenting so really it helpe…

Hey sorry your going through this, I am as well and just had my custody court battle last week. As others have said go for 50/50, well in ny it’s still full child support so that doesn’t help from a money prospective. I think most wives that have pulled this off have more so abandoned the kids. Is your wife still an active mother?? Mine is not and I’m going for full custody, kids are what’s most important and the money is just a secondary thing. Don’t file first let her file. Don’t leave your be…

Hey she realized the grass isn’t greener and realized how much she actually does love you. I think this is awesome, since you have kid or kids. We can’t look at the past or worry about tomorrow, we have enough worries for today. More than likely it won’t turn out how we think. We must forgive and not hold until hurt because it only hurts us not them. If she really changed then this is awesome but just move forward with caution, don’t jump in and just see where it goes.

Well I have court today at 2pm for custody and I’m standing for my children and for all men everywhere, it’s not that my wife is unfit, she chose to not be a mother and I know this judge is a 50/50 judge but I’m standing because it’s what is right and I don’t care the cost, I don’t care the false accusations against me. Whether I win or lose I did it because it’s what’s right and even if I lose today it can always be overturned down the road. We need to keep faith that truth will prevail and rig…

Yes I agree agree it’s a very broken system and also the child custody is so broken, it’s just made to rip the guy of his rights and to take all his money, just doesn’t make sense to me. The laws really need to change

I understand, hopefully time will heal though, I do believe in marriage but then a part of my just wants to stay single and just concentrate on the children. I do know that these women will have major regrets in the end, grass is not greener in fact the grass only grows when you water it. They will keep dating and realize over time that’s it’s them not the guys and I mean this happens the same way either man or woman so I don’t mean to categorize just women I know this happens to woman too, it’s…

Gosh same thing for me. She wants to be strong and powerful and self sufficient but then it’s I’m taking you for everything you have, it’s the I deserve and I need todo what makes me happy lines all day, it’s really sad so I agree and I hear this same story so often and also stories where once one girls gets divorced in the group they all follow suit after that

This exact thing happened to me, she just woke up one day and said don’t touch me don’t look at me and don’t talk to me. She wanted to be strong and powerful and have purpose and her own identity, wanted her own money, we have three young kids and it was heartbreaking to witness, I waited 3.5 years as she went and lived her life and now she is divorcing me and taking me for everything but God is good and I’m blessed to build a great bond with my kids that will last a lifetime and I stood behind …
