Haha while I don’t totally agree with this, I definitely know exactly where you’re coming from and the feelings that go along with it. And the dichotomies you described were definitely at play in my relationship. Sometimes it seems like there’s nothing you can do right!!

I dated a girl for 5 years and thought we’d marry, she lied to and cheated on me. The reason for this post is because you think you know someone until you don’t. When you’ve been stabbed in the back like that, it makes it difficult to open up to anyone like that again, because it’s by far one of the most painful thing I think a person can experience emotionally.

Hypergamy makes sense to me, but you’re probably right lol. I’ve never cheated or done anything remotely unfaithful. Which is why is was so damaging when it happened to me.

I appreciate your naturalistic approach, but I don’t think dismissing cheating because we follow “social constructs” justifies the emotional pain the lack of respect and communication can cause someone. Generally speaking, I don’t like your responses lol it just makes the world seem cold and bleak, but we all have our opinions.

Respect on the effort OP. But the 3/50 girls who just say yes to a stranger approaching them and almost immediately asking for their number, Is that the quality of girl you’d like to be with?

The fact that body count is even found to be a meaningful topic by some is pretty sad. Shouldn’t it be the number of quality relationships? Stop envying people who get it wrong hundreds or even a 1000+ times and start admiring the people who figure it out in 2-4. And by figure it out I mean finding the partner they can spend their lives with.

been struggling with this lately. Sometimes I feel like my only purpose is to find someone to be with, like I've never had a dream career or super specific goals. I am an ambitious person in the sense that I want to be successful, have a respectable job and further myself in whatever career I'm in. And I'd say I'm doing pretty well at 25 years old, but its all centered around being able to provide and be the man I know I can be for my partner. I went through a bad breakup of a 6 year relationshi…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
