I have slowed down the video, and it looks like he hits her in the shoulder, which is why her shoulder flings backwards. It was messy as it was a last second decision Yep, agreed, and because of that he ended up just grabbing her. Looks like primary contact is when his open hand collides with her upper arm/shoulder. Maybe he was trying to block her way, but his arm never actually fully extended. It was around 90 degrees.

I agree with the gist of your original comment, but nah, he didn't "blockade" her. He just straight pushed her into the wall. His arm goes straight for her shoulder. Even if his intent was to blockade like you said, he waited till the last second when she was already so close that her momentum would have carried her into his arm anyway. White shirt looked concerned for the girl, and the way Thor pushed him away looked more aggressive and white knighty than if he was calmly clearing the air above her. He didn't seem to care about getting other people out of the way, just that guy.

I don't think it was about defending the girl It looks to me like white shirt and Police-costume were already fighting when Thor tried to break them up. The girl shows up and takes Thor's attention allowing Cop-costume to resume his attack on white shirt. They were already fighting and the girl caused a distraction that allowed the fight to resume. Thor was the white Knight when he pushed white shirt away from the girl and allowed police-uniform to throw hands.

There is a double standard because she's small. You have to scale your reaction to the size of the person. It has nothing to do with her being a girl. Like if it was a 13 year old boy instead of a woman it would be the same problem. We're not saying that the guy should have just dealt with it, but that he should have used less force when reacting to her slap. It's not one or the other, it's a mix of nature and nurture that makes a person. You can't call her parents trash based on this video. They'd probably steal at very similar rates because the rates of thievery are based on desperation and opportunity not the punishments for the crimes. I won't defend thievery, but I hate this attitude people have on the internet that beating the shit out of wrongdoers in public is justice. Places where the cops let bystanders punch and slap somebody while they're arresting them are the types of places where people get disappeared in the night.
