They have always been the worst. W. B. Yeats was obsessed with Maud Gonne, kept proposing to which she refuted. She marries someone else, has a daughter, to which W. B. Yeats pesters also with offers of marriage. So, they’ve always been at it.

This is a good point, I never thought about it before I never thought about it from both sides: if a man proposed after four years and she said no, she would be a villain and everyone in his circle (friends/ family) would tell him it is over. So now from the reverse perspective, she should end it, as painful as it would be How many in HER circle (friends / family) will say to her the hard truth?

Ohhh what a wonderful thought. Because of the devastation of the two world wars, women got equal rights. We had to go to work during the war years while the men went off to fight in war. When the war was over, society had changed for the better, as women were demonstrably equal to men regarding work. In the space of 100 years, out of all of human (recorded) history, this is the most free we have been. The men are shook and trying to take the coercive control back. We have the power to end the re…

Narcissism. They hate anyone who has seen them in a bad light or as wrong. If the kids are not perfect then that is a negative reflection of him in his mind. Strangers can feed and reaffirm his ego if he just acts nice

We had this in Ireland during the abortion (8th amendment) referendum, and there was funding coming in from usa christian churches They funded some events where people spoke against abortion Some methods included ‘there are medical guidelines! If the mothers life is at risk they’ll terminate the baby, even without the husbands opinion!’ Except that was not happening as the constitution is supreme law compared to an employers guidelines to doctors. That did not save Savita Halappanavar from septi…

I think Gweneth Paltrow got it right.. she found a man when she was young who ticked all the boxes, and married and had a family with him. The spark faded as they were not a true match But her current guy, that seems like real love to me. Maybe Im wrong, but he seems to tick all the hvm boxes She found HVM and made life choices with them Whatever my opinion on goop or her movies etc, she didn’t devalue herself, she made choices that seems secure (chris martin) even if it didn’t work out. He didn…

He is playing a game. He wants intimacy of a relationship without the commitment. You date and have fun like a couple, Maybe he has a fantasy of a woman dominating him as she is overcome with desire A man pulling back from sex.. Im glad he is in therapy as he is playing some sort of game. The more this goes on, the more power he has over you, and the more it will chip away at your self esteem, which makes you easier to control. You need to make the terms with him. You are not fulfilled, it is af…

‘If it didn’t work the first time, it won’t work the second time’ is my personal motto I too have just broken up, and this was the third time (the second break up was a day so I didn’t count it) and all the problems from last time were amplified. Nothing changed. But I did get honesty from him this time, all my instinct thoughts for breaking up the first time, he admitted to, I was right. So as much as I think about him when I wake up, am alone, watching something and want to make a joke with hi…

When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

The vetting Im referring to is when someone shows they are a sociopath or a narcissist. Like being rude to waiters. Saying unjustified crappy things about people. I don’t follow ‘rules’ set up on reddit, I let someone show who they are. As does my friends. When someone shows they are crappy, women make their polite excuses or directly end the dating experience with that person. If we went on to explain why to the guy, he would get ‘broken boner’ (what I call it..) where he throws a tantrum or ac…

Women are vetting guys. That is what dating is about. If the guy shows troubling traits or drops his mask, then the girl with sense will drop him. That is NOT the same as leading someone on, tricking them into thinking the guy means what he says. She falls in love. Once he has won The Chase, he loses interest and drops her. There is no reason, and that is why women have trust issues, and also why after a few dates a girl does not continue pursuing the guy. That being said, this is Not All Men Im…

Not true. We don’t get filled with testosterone and go into competition mode, tricking people into thinking we mean what we say, when in fact we just want to know we could ‘win’ Women are nothing like men. Some women will pretend to be in love in order to be a gold digger, that is a fair comment to make. That is a small amount of women. There is a lot of men, be honest with yourself and you can count names on your hand who you know who say they loved a girl but behind her back the guy made fun o…

True, but what I mean is, someone is showing up, saying they are serious and want to create a relationship and do all the parts for that, their actions matching their words And then once you are falling for them, and they have ‘won’ they just pull back, stop messaging and avoid meeting up... There is no way to foresee that, unless you have trust issues and were expecting it

The Chase. It is real and fuk up. They get competitive and focused on ‘winning’ without thinking if they want a relationship. They say everything the girl wants to hear. Win her, then go off. Leaving her confused (obviously) by the sociopath behaviour. Don’t pursue someone for a relationship if that is not what you want. Have some respect unless you want a reputation.

He is solely responsible for himself, I agree. But he didn’t shoot his sister. There was a teen brother who stabbed his younger teen sister in a caravan park in Wales though that you might be thinking of? This guy was warned by HIS MOTHER WHO HE SHOT to the police (he should not have a gun due to anger issues, gun taken by police. Gun given BACK BY POLICE as he did an anger course, where he said everything the police wanted to hear, in order to get the gun back. He shot a woman (60s I think) out…

I had a friend from school when I was a teenager, we were in the same friends group and quite good friends. When I got into my first long term relationship at 20 he suddenly declared that he was in love with me, that it had always been me he pined for etc He Never indicated this throughout our friendship before. He had dated others when we were teens, and always tried to get girls drunk in order to bang.. Long story short, he felt ‘entitled’ to me, he did not want a relationship etc, just was fr…

YAK: You Already Know It is good to review and discuss before making lasting decisions (like ending a friendship) such as asking RPW But I am glad OP recognises her instinct and already knows the answer. A problem shared is a problem halved after all.

I respect that he took direction over his own life and made a career out of it (he is her personal trainer, and was a bit chubby when younger, sorted it out and now has made a career out of fitness) but I do wonder about his intentions due to age gap. I want to believe he 100% has her best interest at heart and it not a negative influence
