Maybe to test interest from the guys approaching? If they're usually ugly names, maybe she's wondering if the guy is shallow and won't continue things or maybe she just likes being someone other than herself when she goes out? No idea, personally I would be rather offended if I went up to a woman and she lied about who she was if things were to become serious between us.

Give me some back story about what you think is going on between you two. Shubrook has some good advice but I would go off of it a bit and say that even though a persons happiness is their own responsibility, you need to remember to do some of that for them as well. If you're asking to go do things and she's constantly saying no but you do whatever she asks then you're doing everything wrong. You just need to be confident in these situations, and be honest with your intentions.

I find it's easier to just push myself to seem confident in what I'm doing when things first start out. A friend of his was going out with him one night and she had a friend that was coming too so he invited me alone, the two of us started out kinda shy by …

The senior drill sergeant when I was in basic told all of us the same thing before we had to go in the gas chamber. The chemicals going through your body are all the same when you're either nervous or excited, he told us just keep thinking "I'm excited, this is cool." It worked for a lot of the guys.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
