I think in this case OP got lovebombed by a rebound relationship after an ugly divorce. I don’t think the comment is meant to shame, just to point out that a review of the handbook ( + some therapy IMO) might be beneficial to OP given the circumstances.

IMO, because society says we’ll meet our guy, fall in love, get married, buy our first house together, etc. I actually didn’t learn until I bought my own home and made a comment about how the documents said “a single female”, that it wasn’t “until 1974, credit cards could be given to a woman without her husband's consent. Once women were able to receive a line of credit, the home buying process became more attainable.”

The song isn’t out yet but if you @ call me stela cole (no spaces) she has a link in bio where you can pre-save the song on Spotify and Apple Music. I’m so pumped for this song and excited for this artist!

Lol well according to these other commenters, my experience is only one and it doesn’t count. Oh but somehow all our experiences and trauma are the same!?! I learn something new every day! 🤡

Well good for you then, I’m glad things worked out but still not sure why you continue to comment back to me and insist on generalizing “any fathers” just like the OC’s offhanded remark about lesbian couples. They’re not the same and our situations were not the same and I don’t pretend to know your life.

I’m sorry to hear about what you went through with your parents. I did still see/have a relationship with my dad growing up, and I learned the truth about what happened from other family members as an adult, so I have a very close relationship with him now, none with my mother. It sounds like we had different dads growing up. I know now my dad really did do his best, and truthfully I don’t blame him for anything, because I know more than anyone what my bio mom can do. My initial comment was made…

Well, back in the nineties it was easier for a mother to manipulate a situation to get sole custody. My dad did fight for me, but if you’ve never gone to war with a narcissist, then you should consider yourself lucky that you don’t understand.

I must respectfully disagree, as a chronically depressed kid and C-PTSD diagnosed adult, I wish I could have chosen my dad and his new wife over my n-mom and her rotation of (some actually diagnosed) psychotic women partners. Not all lesbians are the same, and some really hate children but choose single moms anyway.

Translation: A woman who “has her life together” is a woman who lives alone- no pesky parents or roommates to get in the way of this married man’s affair.

Guys everywhere want to know: why is the Gabby story so popular? For myself, the answer is: “It could have been me.” If my former pickmeisha self had accepted the invitation I received from some scrote to “go camping” (and y’all- he asked me even knowing I don’t even LIKE the outdoors), I know in my soul- it would have been me.

I completely understand that and that’s why I don’t agree with it being posted here (again, no offense to OP, just my humble opinion).

Who knew you could make a Tik Tok just reading other people’s tweets?! (No offense OP but this kind of content isn’t my fave, I don’t need boys telling me what I already know.)

It’s a bummer because I’d love to have a single mom role model in the spotlight. Seems like too many women (including some of the other HGTV hosts) are afraid to be alone for even a moment, and I worry about the messages they’re sending their daughters. I know all of this probably sounds super judgmental, but I wouldn’t speak on it if I didn’t experience it myself.

In the beginning, I didn’t really see it because my dad is funny but not an attention-seeker. I feel like it was after all the “well Chip brought home another animal” stories that I started to side-eye, but listening to their books is a whole other hurdle once you’ve spent some time learning self-respect on FDS.

What shocked me was their surprise number 5. I remember around the time of that announcement that there had been rumors about a wandering eye and thinking she missed an opportunity to leave then. Surely she has made enough $$$ to support her family, even after a divorce. I know plenty of women who have made it work with far less.

Thank you! I thought maybe I was reading too much into it but I was feeling worse for Joanna the more I tried to get into their story. Also, thanks for sharing the mind game tidbit- all the more reason for me to not finish these books. For lack of a better word, I get really triggered with stories of manipulation, especially with authority figures.

Great timing OP, I had a mini milestone I was proud of this morning and wanted to share but felt no one in my personal life would understand. After reading self-help books my whole life and finally putting in therapy hours last year, I know that I can do better by journaling, but I’ve always been afraid because N-mom always threatened to find mine and read it so I stopped as a teen. Today I actually opened up a journal and put pen to paper and I immediately got a boost from getting my thoughts o…

I’m fully ready for a women-owned chain of childcare centers that actually pay their employees a livable wage, especially considering the cost of childcare. Edited to add details for those without kids: when I was transitioning off welfare, even with help from the state, I was paying $300+ week (60% of the regular price) for an average center with full classes of kids, yet the workers barely made minimum wage, despite working there for years.

I’m sorry that your friend is currently in a weird place. I hope she’s okay and that I’m just projecting. I wish I didn’t have to deal with that traumatizing situation, but for me it was my final “time to get off the dating apps” sign because I always seem to attract the “otherwise occupied but still exploring” type from those sites.

Don’t worry, he’ll probably go back to his wife and ghost her after the vacation. Signed, former lovebomb victim by a married man but the (unknown to me) wife showed up at my house a week before the vacation was supposed to occur.

Have we also discussed Lorde’s 15+ year age gap relationship/suddenly stripped down appearance as well? I’m no prude but that new picture of where the solar power doesn’t shine was an interesting choice for someone who once said “With pop music and pop musicians, you know everything about everyone all the time, particularly their physical appearance. With female musicians, that's made a big thing of, and I think people, certainly with me, have appreciated a bit of mystery.”

Do you and forget what anyone else has to say, unless you are asking them for advice because you respect them and trust their judgment, even then... Two years ago I found my first house and the only two people who I asked for their honest opinion on my ability to handle the property were my real estate agent and the house inspector and they were virtual strangers. As much as the people around you may mean well, I notice that SO MANY PEOPLE will project onto you so it’s best to just do what makes…

Agreed!!! I “graduated” from therapy in the beginning of the year, but having resources like her makes me feel not alone (and reinforces that I’m not “crazy” like I felt for so long from years of abuse from narcs). I’ll have to see if my library has any copies of her books and if not, I’ll be submitting that request.

Hey friend, a lot of your posts and comments are concerning. If this man is doing that to you, then you need to call the cops because that is rape if you are not fully awake and consenting. Are you only with him because he owns the place where you live? Where is his not-quite-ex-wife in all this?

Thank you for saying this. I hesitated watching the video until I read the comments, because I’m not a fan of those types of videos. I’ve walked the walk of single parenting for over a decade now so I have plenty of empathy for those in the struggle, but I personally find it a questionable priority to be posting videos on social media as opposed to seeking a therapist, reaching out to friends, family, etc. for help, and making a real plan for how you’re going to level up in life. Some people fin…

Wow, so in that 30 minutes, she managed to read the handbook, wiki, FAQ’s, top posts with comments? Yet her article still came off like she just regurgitated all the other recent “journalism” about FDS. Amazing work ethic for this groundbreaking piece, I’m super impressed. /s (just in case)

Holy crap I totally agree! In fact, I was about to make a post on how I have to stop reading threads about FDS on other subs, because it occurs to me that the commenters spend all this time making up lies and stories about the sub when they could be actually reading the handbook or posts to understand what we’re talking about here. I just saw one where we are called hypocritical classist sluts and future murderers. Oh, also we are the female “angry group of pills” because apparently we have sooo…

Is it bad that I’ve started responding out loud to these stories from the women close to me, “Maybe I don’t want to have a husband one day?” Is it worse that I’ve had so many married women tell me not to get married ever?

At my house, we’ve been fostering cats since June, so far we’ve helped socialize and prepare more than half a dozen kittens and cats for their forever homes. Just a thought to those who are considering the pet route- sometimes a “foster fail” (aka adopting your foster animal(s)) is the best thing that can happen :)

Lmao what an immature douche, also this is literally a storyline from an episode of Nickelodeon’s tv show Victorious, where this happens to Ariana Grande’s character, who meets a guy who only likes blondes and spoiler alert, dumps her when he finds out she’s not a blonde.
