I think it takes being out of the situation to see what it was really like. I was beaten down and found myself living just for that person. After divorce, move to a new state, new job, new friends, life is much better now. Living on my terms just for myself. That makes a huge difference.

Heard that also in the thick of the last time I confronted my ex husband with his mistress. He laid out a laundry list of all the horrible things I had done through all 14 years of us being together. I was stunned by exactly how horrible a wife and person I was in his eyes. That’s when I knew in my heart there was absolutely nothing left to fight for. Nothing. Almost 8 years later and I’m way better off now. Wishing the same for you.

I gave away 99% of our shard items. I didn’t need the reminder. It was better to start of new.

Aside from the emotions, my divorce was relatively nothing to write home about. The house was sold on Wednesday and on Thursday morning I was on my way out of state with my kid. My brother drove the UHaul with my stuff and by 11:15pm I was at my new home. I haven’t set eyes on my ex husband in 6 years. It could not have been easier and more clean cut. Life is so much better now. Healing takes time and making a clean break works for some people.

The only person you can control is you. You can’t control who she sees and what she does. It sucks big time but the sooner you come to accept this, the saner your life will be. Focus on you and your kids. Divorce isn’t fair. The injustice of it all isn’t fair but it’s part of this sucky life. Communicate only about the kids. This is the only way to move on.

You get one life. If she won’t get her act together and it’s difficult to see that she will, then it’s time to move forward. You’re still young. I know you don’t feel that way with your health issues but you are. There’s a much better life ahead you just need to take the first step and contact a lawyer. As a divorced single mom, I can’t fathom someone of able mind and body wanting to stay home and do nothing for so many years! Also, geez how do you guys put up with that? My ex gave me shit and I…

My ex hid his new address when we first got divorced. I saw it as him projecting his craziness onto me. He cheated yet he felt like I was the one he needed to be weary of. Go figure…

Nah- in my experience it takes a special type of delusional person to simply walk away. They are able to live with themselves because they end up believing all the lies they have told themselves to justify leaving. In their mind you’re always going to be the one to blame, the one who was lacking. It’s pretty shitty but the truth.

It takes a tremendous amount of duplicity to live two lives like this. Cheating is a deliberate, conscious act. She will never admit to it because that defeats the purpose. Get all of your documents in order. Protect yourself and your children before letting her know you know. You’re right- on your very worst day, this is not the woman for you. Her actions are not one of someone who loves and respects you; it’s the complete opposite. You are worth more. Your value as a human is not tied to her a…

She can’t move away without your permission. I moved 900 miles away because my ex gave me permission. It’s been almost 4 years and he’s regretted that decision. We do not coparent because he lives in NY and I live in FL. It was his choice to give me permission. If he hadn’t, I would have stayed and had no choice to coparent. Like you, I knew exactly how impossible it would have been to do that. So your choices are refuse her permission to move and set very firm boundaries to coparent. Deal with …

It depends on what your goals are. Are you the type of person who will become emotionally involved the longer this goes on or is it really and truly “just sex?” I had sex with my ex while we were going through the divorce. As a matter fact, we had lots of sex, probably the best sex. We both knew though that it was hysterical bonding because we were ending this marriage. If your goal is to move on to a better place with a better partner, then this should end. That’s totally your call- good luck!

I’m a woman who’s been exactly where you are. If it isn’t this guy, it will be someone else because her cheating isn’t about you. It isn’t about what she perceives as lacking in you or the marriage; it’s about her. It’s about her sense of entitlement because she’s entitled to be happy regardless of who she hurts in the process. As for your child, yes it sucks having to only see him part of the time, however, you will both survive. Despite how you feel now, you will be modeling resiliency to him …

Saw your post history. Just like there’s never a “right” time to have a baby, there’s never a right time to tell someone about a divorce. But if she really is cheating, those boundaries have been crossed already so fuck that. She’ll never admit to an affair. What she’ll do us tell you you’re imagining things and she’ll drive that affair further underground. Once that trust is gone, it’s gone. Cheating is about lack or character and morals. It’s not about mistakes and opportunities. The whole poi…
