I'd like to read that if you have the link handy.

I agree, they are different. My brother, I probably downplay brute force because it's so easy for me. I've never worked at it. I was replying to someone who replied to you, postulating that men can't endure what women can (childbirth). So yes, I they're different but I think they're equally important. I bicycled my son home six miles on a bike trailer with a weeks worth of groceries. I did that after I fell mounting my bike and broke my foot in six places. What was more important, physical stren…

I'm not redefining words, just using the definition provided by Merriam-Webster. I was specifically responding to a responder to your post regarding the childbirth pain paradox. If you're disregarding all other types of strength beyond physical I would ask you to be more concise in the future. Otherwise, don't be surprised when someone misunderstands you.

If we limit strength to sheer brute force you aren't wrong, but we should also factor in things like endurance and flexibility because the job doesn't always require a hammer. I'm a hammer. 6'6" 270 lbs. I can knock down walls easily while my daughter would have zero problem reaching behind drywall to wire a switch. Strength comes in different forms.

Honestly, do something physical. I swear that's why men play golf. Go to the weight room at the gym. Less women and more interaction. Straight up ask someone where to start. Gym bros can still be bros aren't always toxic. Disk golf is also a possibility. Inexpensive to start and a good way to get out. Get on Meetup and find a city cleanup group. You need dudes in your life to talk to and the goal isn't to completely avoid women. If women show up to these places they have as much right to be ther…

I'm not taking anything away from childbirth but nobody born with a penis could go through it so it's a moot point. I've seen both men and women shot and stabbed while they were working. Women were more apt to verbalize their pain but both had similar pain tolerance. I've also seen men with crush injuries and two with full deglovings from industrial mishaps. They didn't die from the pain so I would say they tolerated it. I would argue those more painful than childbirth, especially considering en…

I did. Most women my age split equally between 8.25 and 8.5 hours of sleep. If we split the difference and take an average, they get about 140 hours of sleep per year more than a man. Same with steps. They average 91,000 less per year. If there's something wrong with my methods I'm all ears. Seizure meds make things a little fucky sometimes.

I unabashedly love musicals. Old operas to Hamilton, count me in. I drink coffee so I need to try an espresso just to get my gorilla mitts on a tiny cup. I used to love to have afternoon tea with my grandmother and a tiny cup would likely make me feel a little closer to her departed soul.

I'm sorry your family is going through this but I'm glad your child is okay and your wife got all of the support she needed. I wish you got the support that you needed. I had a similar experience. A few years ago my daughter died in childbirth. My wife got love and support from the community while I was mostly asked when I was going back to work so they could support her while I was away. I'm appreciative that my community had her back but I couldn't help but feel that I was merely part of the b…

Straight women in gay bars is not new but I I didn't see their boyfriends there when I used to go. My best friend in HS was and is gay so I went as his wingman more times than I can remember. Straight women at the turn of the millennium (now I feel old) invaded gay spaces to escape men being overbearing while explaining to gay men that a night with them would change their perspective on sexuality. Total disconnect from reality on that front. I wish I had an answer for you but all I can offer is …

No expertise here, just a little experience. Honestly, I think it's self fulfilling at this point. Men who have sex with men are presenting to my ER with concerns about every ingrown hair being MP and self reporting sex with men. Some have reported abstinence but they are going out dancing at clubs which they consider high risk. Because they're presenting more often with concerns, they'll be tested more often and we'll see a lot of LGBTQ folks get diagnosed while us heteros will get a pass and m…

The genres I listen to most (punk, 80's pop, pre-millennium country) have great presences from men and women and I enjoy both equally. That only makes a statement about the music I like, not biases or lack thereof. Same with you. Don't let some rando get in your head. Just be the best you that you can.

"I wish to retain a loving relationship with you so I refuse to discuss this more often than once a year. I'll buy you lunch on the Ides of March each year and we'll talk about it." Time wears the sharp edges off most deeply held beliefs. I'm sure she wants you in her life and you obviously want her in yours. Just go gently forward and listen openly.

This is an interesting exercise but it's hard to consider without my own bias. I'll try but I'm just recognizing my own limitations. -Getting into an elevator with three men. Woman-It's not a lot of information. I would be concerned if it's in an unsecured building in the middle of the night. Office tower in the middle of the day would be of no concern. Man-Three guys? How about those sports! Read the room and see if they're acting shifty. Three women? I'll take the next elevator. I'm 6'6" 275 l…

I've checked, the testes are still in the house so I wouldn't be considered a eunuch. I'm done making babies with the wife so I figured this was the most fool proof way. Sorry if my feeling of control of my destiny triggered you, it surely wasn't my intent.

I don't doubt you, I'm just shocked. My insurance wouldn't have covered much if I hadn't had some pretty major orthopedic surgery.

Same here. I've just told them that I was circumcised because things were different when I was a baby. They are being raised voluntarist so it's not such a stretch for them.

I'm still in respiratory therapy but I'm in a freestanding emergency department. I'm the only one in the place who can run the vent but most of the extremely sick are immediately transferred to a hospital because we don't have food services or inpatient beds.

Also, the only thing that changed for me with Covid is that my kids aren't allowed at the park because the moms and dads all know what I do for a living and don't want their kids around mine.

There are quite a lot of men in nursing now, at least in my area. The thing about a nurse being understaffed is that they will often close units since there aren't enough nurses to legally open them. They don't do that with RTs. I worked at a 950 bed hospital that typically staffed 10-12 RTs for night shift. One night because of call outs we did it with 7. I was personally responsible for 18 vents and 22 or 23 patients on nebulizer treatments. I had 15 billable hours in a 12 hour shift. Thankful…

As an RT all I do is balance the function of the heart, lungs, and kidneys when I'm managing a vent. Unfortunately, it's mostly just slinging nebulizer treatments for pathology they aren't really indicated for. Occasionally I still get an interesting patient but 15 years in the business has me looking for the next step. The problem with RT is that there isn't a next step. You just pound floors for 20 or so years until your knees give up. I think I bought a few extra with NICU but some days I hav…

My father and grandfather were plumbers. I went to school and became a respirator therapist. Now I have too many kids and too many years in the field to enter an apprenticeship for plumbing. I did more interesting problem solving helping my dad install irrigation systems than I ever have in the hospital. Tradesmen work harder than anybody I work with and they don't have to give a presentation to prove they work. You can see a pipe, a light switch, or a weld. Bless the tradesmen, they keep this w…

No, she assumed that in an event where sexual assault took place the perpetrator would be male and the victim would be female. She didn't at any time insinuate that I was a rapist.

Evidence gathering includes them taking all of your clothes so a shirt, skivvies, sweats, and flip flops. A few personal care items (snacks, soap, toothbrush) and a sweet book in a nice floral bag. I guess I'm looking for ideas on how to make this a little more palatable for men. It's hard enough for us to come forward without treating us like more surly women.

I'm feeling concerned. I joined because of a false accusation of intimidation at work and I'm watching the whole thing play out right now. I work in a hospital so I doubt I'll receive anything like fair treatment.

I hope that I never lose faith in my fellow human's ability to become better. One year of eighty seven spent in truth for my grandfather is better than zero and if Rush Limbaugh sees how much he has hurt others in his coming days then that deserves to be celebrated. That said, I've seen a lot of people hang on to their ignorance to the bitter end.

For eighty five years my grandfather was the person you're describing. About a year before he died he confided in me that I was right, "black folks are just as good as white folks." It took him spending every other morning for more than a year at a dialysis center that was mostly staffed by "black folks." I hope that I never lose faith in my fellow human's ability to become better.
