I've had problems finding new posts. Maybe there just is less content being generated, but when I go to sort by new in the forum section it seems like the same stories have been showing up for at least the past few months. When I compare it to the FDS reddit experience I find it lacking. I could always find at least half a dozen daily stories on reddit that were new, written by members, and felt engaging. Even when I compare it to other female oriented websites like Reductress (which is more of …

Exactly - I agree 100%. It's really easy to have passive, consumption based hobbies. It's harder but (in my opinion) more rewarding to create something new. It also leads me to new hobbies. For example, when I tried singing songs from musicals, I did a bunch of research on stylings and eventually tried singing in latin, then looked up ways to pronounce words, then got into singing opera songs from pop culture...etc. I always think of the disgusting consumption in shows like Big Bang Theory (whic…

I think it's totally reasonable to be easy going for the first few times hanging out with someone. I'm trying to connect to some new potential friends right now and both of us are trying to show how flexible and willing to listen we are by saying we can do whatever (the magic of social engineering!) But once our relationship is more established I always like an even give and take so neither person is suggesting activities all the time. With a guy it's different considering the effort and trust w…

To me, it's about how LVM don't have passions of their own and are looking for something cool to piggyback off of. Instead of putting the time and effort into trying, failing, and improving at their own passion they can date someone accomplished and pretend that passion somehow now belongs to them. I see this all the time. Couple is "passionate" about anime: she puts work into cosplay and exploring the stories, he watches episodes. Couple is "passionate" about cooking. She cooks and he critiques…

For me, I find it so frustrating because something that is luck and privilege based they think is a skill. They "casually" mention friends they could stay with as if it shows they are charismatic and know people in a lot of places. They are imagining themselves as rugged protagonists of international dramas where everyone swoons at their worldwide know-how and skills. The reality is they got lucky in a semi-dangerous situation and used money and privilege to tread water in an unfamiliar place be…

It's like if someone said "I'm not a thief" because they "only" shoplifted instead of an old west style bank robbery. Both are crimes, both still result in stolen goods/money, and the person committing the crime is STILL committing a crime. If you calmly poison someone instead of stabbing someone, it doesn't make it any less of a murder. If you at all coerce someone into having sex with you, guess what? That's sexual assault. That's rape. It doesn't matter any of the surrounding context, or if i…

That's insane. So many questions are going through my head. How was it easier for him to find a piece of foam than buy a mattress?? Like, did he know an industrial foam guy? I'm sorry you had to deal with that D:

this resonates so much with me because I'm in the process of moving and I'm probably going to buy most of my starter furniture at the swedish store because I know I'm only going to be here for two years.

exactly! It's also a classic case of women asking for something basic and men blowing the issue out of proportion so they don't have to confront their own laziness. women: I'd like to sleep on a bed that isn't on the floor. Maybe on a bed frame. LVM: So you want a giant oak headboard? I don't have thousands of dollars to buy that! You want silk sheets and a thousand throw pillows? I'm a simplistic guy! He continues to sleep on a mattress on the floor in sheets that haven't been washed for months…

exactly! I hate when I see posts where people reply: I don't have money to afford stuff like that :(. A lot of the gross man spaces aren't even clean! Cleaning doesn't cost anything but time and effort. Just like basic color matching or organizing. Also, so many of the simpler man spaces have nothing but a giant tv and PS5. Take the thousands of dollars spent on video games and buy a couch and a lamp! I find it kind of fun and challenging to try and replicate a more expensive style for cheap. Th…

It's telling that in the photos he took to romanticize the situation things still look pretty dire. No sunset fixes a cramped and dirty car, empty road with no civilization, etc. When I saw the wall of signs I wasn't thinking - how quaint and fun! I was thinking - collection of homeless signs in a shanty town (harsh, I know). I feel sorry for the dog.

I LOATHE that lack of planning. Unless someone is my best friend I'm not going to jump at a chance to "hang out." There needs to be an activity: food, an event, SOMETHING, and any activity requires planning. Guys will think driving around on the freeway for hours in a vague direction then finding out everywhere is closed because they waited until last minute (true story) is an acceptable "hang out" while your doing all the work keeping the conversation going. I have a really open schedule. Hours…

I've known plenty of LVM who have money too. They're just better at hiding it (having the resources to constantly buy new stuff when their laziness trashes it, getting to pretend their selfish actions are "spontaneous" and "fun" because they have a cushion of money to back it up). I think being raised with responsibility and care is something that families with more resources can do, which produce better people overall, but being poor is not a moral failing.

I would be disgusted. I wouldn't put up with this level of selfishness from a friend, let alone someone who is supposed to be sharing my life with me. I can't understand the awful thought process of any guy who tries to pull this, and it would be exhausting to constantly play mindgames with a glorified toddler.

I once took a male friend to an amazing Filipino street food style restaurant: small, family owned, really nice food. When it was his turn to order he tried to MAKE UP A RECIPE. Like "I want fried rice with eggs in this special way. Do you have eggs? Can you combine it, and like fry it with the rice from the turmeric rice recipe in a pan?" I was MORTIFIED. The lady who took our order (the wife of the chef) spoke next to no English and was super befuddled. After awkwardly pantomiming and me telli…

It's really telling, the line "what do I tell my family" - like, it's obvious this guy has the little kid mentality where he doesn't care if what he did was wrong, he cares about the consequences (mommy finding out and yelling at him, missing out on all of his favorite shows). The emojis were SO over the top and manipulative.

exactly. I heard critiques who were like "I wanted to see a cool fight! What she did was boring." No, what she did was smart given the circumstances and one of the few semi-realistic portrayals of fight scenes in a movie. Real fights are over quickly, as the whole goal is to hit the other person hard enough they can't hurt you, then get out.

YES! Their confidence is so overinflated. It's infuriating. So many guys who scream slurs while playing call of duty or tell people to "Git gud" can barely play a game with any difficulty, it's embarrassing.

the silmarillion wasn't even supposed to be published! My understanding of it, is that it contained backstory that Tolkien kept in mind while making his other books, but really it doesn't work as a book, it reads like an encyclopedia of Middle Earth. I've mostly found that it's guys who go gaga for it, but it's guys who miss out on the bigger ACTUAL themes in LOTR. They are all about the battles and less about the focus on righting wrongs and how war leaves stains that can never come out. (or th…

100% In high school when my (in retrospect LV) male friend asked me out, I asked him why he wanted to date me specifically. He flailed about, obviously not expecting any answer to his question outside of a resounding "yes!" He eventually settled on the fact that I liked "geeky" things (he wanted someone to sit quietly and watch HIM play video games) and read a lot (I constantly had to dumb down my reading so we could have a conversation about anything). Basically he wanted a girlfriend and I che…
