Question, if Red Pill isn't a "movement", then what is it?

Did those groups not spawn off of red pill? Seriously asking. I thought they did.

And romance novels are less accepted in public society than Hollywood action films.

But women aren't being given the same opportunities to have their sexuality pandered to as much as men.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 01:27 AM

Bruh, there is an multiple fields of study on how media affects people psychologically. Feminist film theory is it's own field. Here's an article about how video games have affected guy's feelings towards women. Here's one that talks about media and violence against women.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 01:27 AM
1

No, I think feminists think that entertainment is egalitarian and thus shouldn't pander to one demographic's fetishes.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 01:22 AM
1

Women not wanting to engage with men who think disparagingly of them is not at all equivalent to the systematic disenfranchisement of an entire race.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 01:21 AM
1

Fair. Good article by the way. I guess then it comes down to how people think of the word "feminism". I just think of it as the belief that women are equal to men, so I don't see a problem with using "feminism" as a framework to talk about sexism. But I recognize that feminism has become envisioned by some as the more extreme, hypocritical version of feminism.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 01:19 AM
1

Well if that's what they're majorly treated as, yes. Media affects how you think. So if movies and tv shows and comics show women as sexy things to fuck and not much else, that's how people are going to think of women.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 01:17 AM
1

Wait I thought we were talking about male spaces, not entertainment.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 01:15 AM
1

One group wanting to treat another group as lesser isn't a good enough reason for it to happen.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/17 11:25 PM
1

I guess I'm confused then on what you're considering "feminist interventions".
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/17 11:24 PM
1

Fine, then you think women were involved with creating games but not a large portion of the people playing them?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/17 11:23 PM
1

That's not segregation. And frankly it's kind of insensitive to compare to segregation.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/17 11:22 PM
1

Again, how do you expect a woman to talk about sexism without mentioning feminism?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/17 11:21 PM
1

I 100% approve of unisex bathrooms.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/08/17 02:52 AM
1

feminists fight for segregation They do? No seriously, what the fuck that's not okay
/r/PurplePillDebate29/08/17 02:51 AM
1

You're giving women shit by stating "women feel entitled to men's spaces". I'm pointing out that most "men's spaces" are non-gendered and thus not male spaces at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/08/17 02:51 AM
1

All those authors were women. And I can't think of an instance where someone be discussing sexism against women but not mention feminism.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/08/17 02:49 AM
1

So it's realistic for women to want that not to be the case.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/08/17 02:47 AM

So you think women were involved with creating games but not playing them?

Oh please of course people have other uses. Thinking of people as "uses" is still shallow. But what I said is true and you know it Uh no, it's not true. It is objectively not true.

Literally all you have to do is Google "feminist critique".

Just like college rape where feminists make out as if there some sort of rape epidemic at colleges when in reality there's not, quite the opposite actually. Eh, depending on definition of "epidemic", I can see the case being made here. Every woman I've talked about it to knows at least one woman who was raped in college. And statistically, rapes are still seriously under-reported and even further under-charged. But there are absolutely those who push it too far. When I was at my college orientat…

I will concede that the "all" was hyperbole. But you must admit that women are sexualized far more often than men.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/17 03:25 AM
2

Pretty sure most misogyny is also subtle and insidious. Why should a workplace be male only? Or a bar? Or a club? I can see the argument for a gym exclusively for guys, but no one ever labels them as such. If a place doesn't take to label itself as "men only", like gentleman's clubs do, then don't give women shit for going there.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/17 03:24 AM
1

Oh fuck off. Just because you can't see women as anything but something to bury your dick in doesn't mean all men are that shallow.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/17 02:47 AM

I still know plenty of guys, single guys, who have a lot of attractive female friends that they are not trying to fuck.

Like, can you explain what made vet jobs change from masculine (it was originally mostly men) to feminine, with out appealing to the genders of the participants (since that would flip the arrow around). I have a hypothesis that as women started to join into vet jobs, the prestige went down. (There's been a few studies showing that historically, when the female proportion of a field went up, the field stopped paying as well and seen as less respectable for men.) So, I think it was kind of a self-…

Never heard anyone say nursing was an easy major. Apologies, you're right. I was thinking of what was said specifically about science and engineering majors at my school. You're right; it's definitely not an issue across the board. I am not saying it doesn't happen as it does, but that I highly doubt its the epidemic feminists and that matter women are making it out to be. I personally wouldn't call it an epidemic at this point. Just a persistent annoying cough. But you raise a good point; it's …

Your argument was that if a man is friends with a woman, he wants to fuck her. You didn't specify any criteria other than woman.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/08/17 09:46 PM
1

Yep. I work as a software engineer for a defense contractor. The section I'm in is pretty 50/50 which is great, but I still see the bias when I go to high level meetings where I'm 1 of 8 women in a room of 40.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/08/17 02:38 PM
1

These are all fair points. I would point out however that we can see in this day and age that discrediting information isn't enough to stop ignorance. People make provably false claims, but others believe them regardless.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/08/17 02:35 PM

It's not a male-space that women "invaded". Women have been there since the beginning.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/08/17 02:33 PM

They've boned. But they don't try to bone every woman they're friends with.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/08/17 02:31 PM
2

I don't know why you see it as an "invasion"; women have been playing video games and reading comics since their inceptions. And women do criticize rapists and hip-hop artists who use sexist language. Women do point out the over-arching sexism in music, visual media, and books. You're right; feminism got a stronger foothold in comics and making them change. But that doesn't mean we've stopped fighting on all fronts or that we shouldn't be fighting at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/08/17 02:29 PM

These are all excellent points. With medicine and law, it used to be like what we see now in CompSci. Women were pushed out because they weren't "smart enough" or just not "wired to think that way". But women pushed and got through. I think that's what happening in CS now. I think we're in the transition phase. There was a study that found that the environment of a coding class has a significant impact on whether girls take it. It's not a conscious bias in this case, but that girls instinctively…

I was going to write something snarky, but dude, I am sympathetic to you. No one should be told they can't study something because of their gender. That's dumb and exactly what I'm against.

Women have been playing video games since their inception.

What "male spaces" are we talking about? Because I would assume male spaces would have a direct reason for being male-only. Like a big brother program. An entire field of study doesn't get to be exclusionary to one gender. And before you bitch about it, I don't see people telling men they can't be in Women/Gender Studies.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/08/17 12:57 AM

Nice argument. But free speech is only guaranteed in the way of the government not being able to punish or stop you. Private citizens can still use their first amendment rights to try and change the actions of other private citizens or institutions.

Huh. Then why do my guy friends have so many female friends? Are they trying to fuck all of them?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/17 05:19 AM

Maybe you don't see it but that doesn't mean it's not happening. My experience is that most friend groups are mixed genders and don't at all rely on a relationship.

Look you may not realize it, but what you just said is an example of the kind of attitude that discourages girls from STEM. I went to an tech/engineering school; I'm a woman. I saw so much bullshit. Guys treating female project partners as idiots who could only be trusted to make the powerpoint. Guys "correcting" girls who knew what they were doing. I saw freshman CS majors try to correct a fucking professor. (Surprise surprise, the female professor was right and the student was flat out wrong) …

What you just wrote is word salad. But let me see if I understand what you're trying to say. So you're attempting to claim that when a woman tells a man to "man up", she is implying that she would and could go after a "manlier" man? If that is what you were trying to say, I could see the argument that using the phrase "man up" is manipulation in any case because it's attempting to condition the recipient. But I disagree with the assessment that anytime a woman uses it she is doing so in the cont…

"Dread game". There you go, it's manipulation, and by many accounts it's emotional abuse. One common tactic prescribed by the redpill is to straight-up ignore your wife/partner/"plate" until they do exactly what you want. Manipulative, and emotional abuse. I won't say there aren't women out there who do "game men". But the idea that AWALT and that they're always doing it is ridiculous.

TRP teaches men how to pursue men's own interests By instructing them to manipulate and emotionally abuse women. It might not be "hate" but it sure is hateful.

Sorry, I meant the opposite with psychology and biology. Biology and psych used to be well-respected, well-paid fields. Coincidentally (or maybe not) now, when women are the majority, that is not the case.

It's getting better, but then you have places like Uber and other Silicon Valley companies that still treat women terribly. It's not just about getting women into programming, it's about retaining them by getting rid of sexual harassment and the "Boy's Club" mentality.

My point still stands. She made a pitiful mating choice That would have been true regardless of whether she stayed with the father or not. All these changes only to make your own lives horrible. Someone's projecting. I don't get why you're proselytizing to me when you've made it clear over and over again that you only care about yourself. Why should it matter what I do if apparently only you and your offspring matter?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/17 03:14 AM

You think that this is something I should avoid doing? If you want men to get fair custody then YES. oh wait I'm sorry thats right you only give a shit about yourself. And you know what, maybe I dont care about you, because you've proven yourself to be an asshole, but I DO care about men and I DO tell off man-hating feminists . Also I love how you said I was playing the victim earlier when you clearly have a victim complex. "Wah life isn't fair for men! But I'm not going to do a single thing to …
/r/PurplePillDebate30/01/17 06:47 PM

You don't care about people unless they care about you. Okay, so you're sociopath. Got it. And secondly, by asserting that women are the ones to take of children, like you were at the beginning of the conversation, you help perpetuate the situation where women are assumed to be the primary and better caretaker. How can not see that? You can't whine and bitch about men losing custody and then turn around and tell me that women are supposed to do the child-rearing.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/01/17 10:59 PM
2

So you just don't care about any rape victim unless its someone you know? News flash, people not giving a shit about rape victims is a huge part of the reason rapists go free. To rape again. And then it just might happen to someone you do care about. And I don't think it's "men's job to make the world a safe place". I think it's everyone's job. We're together as a society, and I believe that means that we should be looking out for each other and trying to protect each other.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/01/17 11:55 PM

I'll be honest I thought we'd moved on to a somewhat understanding chat. (I apologize if my "but theyre the best thing ever?" comment came across incredulous; I was just confused by why you said it was unfortunate that you knew that.) Why are you calling her a slut? Because someone violated her when she was drunk? How does that make sense? Did she drink too much? Clearly, but that doesn't mean she deserves to be violated. Would you say a man who was raped when he was drunk deserved it?

/r/PurplePillDebate27/01/17 02:19 AM

Well your argument seems to revolve around the belief that people's worth is based on their reproductive ability, but I would say thats simply not true. Sure, sperm is cheap, but don't kid yourself. Women are still devalued in society. Not in the same way men are, but they definitely are. You point to rape accusations, and I point to the comparative rates of rape reporting, rape prosecuting, and actual rapists put behind bars. False accusations do happen, but the fact is men are more likely to b…

What biological facts are you referring to? I don't see what biology has to do with boys being allowed to express emotions. And society has made changes on how we treat people. Sure, it's not a quick process, but things are certainly more equal today than they were 50 years ago.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/01/17 12:18 PM
1

I see your point, and you've made very good ones. But I disagree with the idea that this is something that cannot change. If more and more people start taking an egalitarian approach to raising children, won't it eventually lead to a more equal society? It's one thing to say "This is how it is." and another to say "This is how it is and thus how it will always be."

I apologize if it appears I'm shaming men. But I'm confused by what you mean by "acting like men have to act". What behaviors are you referring to?

What's your source for that number? If you're referring to Liana Sayer's study, what she accounted for was not stay-at-home dads, but unemployed husbands. That study included data of husbands without children! And I do care about children AND men. I care about the fact that there are people still trying to raise little boys to believe they have to be tough and they can't show emotion and they are superior to girls. "Toxic masculinity", look it up. And you keep re-iterating that "men and women ar…

/r/PurplePillDebate21/01/17 02:39 AM
2

OH okay so you're saying we all have the same motivation of finding the best possible mate? I guess at least then your view is egalitarian. And actually the reason we broke up was because of distance caused by our separate careers. Also, I'm not saying women can't be feminine; I'm saying it doesn't make sense to assume all women want to or should be and that's the only "intelligent" option.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/17 05:00 AM
2

Well first of all, on the semantic side, some women are attracted to women. On the more logical side, do you assume every man on Earth has the same motivation? I wouldn't. People can be motivated by many different things; fame, fortune, happiness, family, love, etc. So why would you claim that women all have the same goal (getting the optimal man)? Also, personal example, if I was just concerned with getting the best man possible, I don't think I would've broken up with my former boyfriend who's…
/r/PurplePillDebate19/01/17 01:15 PM

Everything women do is about getting a higher quality man. Do I even have to explain why this is wrong?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/01/17 01:46 PM

That's a good perspective.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/15 09:30 PM
5

Fair. But I feel these: Ambition, Leadership, Social status with other males, Having other females desire him (pre-selection) are sought after in bad ways. "Dread game", "spinning plates", etc. Many techniques seem to treat women has commodities rather than partners.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/15 09:29 PM
1

You raise a good point. You explain the division very well. But I also feel like TRP seems averse to women going from being a slut to a hubby. It seems that TRP views the count of previous sexual counters as more important than current habits.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/15 09:27 PM
1

You say it's not an insult, but TRP certainly sees sluts as lesser. And, you're right, sexual pleasure goes both ways. But the fact seems to be ignored that a woman's (even a "slut"'s) libido might not be in sync with the male's.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/15 09:25 PM
1

I get your point, until your example. You're saying that a TRPer would treat his wife poorly (abuse her even, from your wording) because other women were making fun of him? That's pretty telling of the mental state of TRPers.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/15 09:23 PM
1

I can see that, to an extent, since height is something that cannot be controlled or decided. But height is physical trait, and sex partners is an aspect of personality. Which, I concede, means it is more shallow then.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/15 09:22 PM
1

But I feel like a lot of TRP denies the fantasy of this thought.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/15 09:21 PM
1

Well, relationships fall under sociological, communication, and anthropological spheres, which are all about "theories" that can't really be proven because there is no solid way to quantitatively test relationships. We can make qualitative observations and experiments, but the human condition is so vast, it's hard to make a solid theory. The thing is, generalizations in such spheres should not be used as the solid-fact norm. They are a mean around which everything fluctuates. There is some sense…
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/15 11:10 AM

Well, I think we also just don't seek to be viewed as "credible" to TRP.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/15 11:04 AM
-1

We do occasionally now, but a lot of time when I see a post that links to TRP, it's just something appalling that I can't begin to reason against. It's like trying to point out why being a con-man is morally reprehensible.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/15 11:01 AM
5

I agree with your first point, but a lot of blue-pillers do not find the behaviors "that make you attractive to women" actually attractive.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/09/15 10:59 AM
8

I don't think your example works. TRP sounds like it wants to be able to "get it in" with ease, after a first meeting if possible. The type of woman who sleeps with strangers is probably going to be one with multiple previous partners, or "sluts" as TRP deems them. Thus TRP is demanding a service while insulting the provider.

You completely missed my early point about it depending on what you want. No, I've never had a fling, but if I were looking for one, no I wouldn't look for high commitment because that's not what I want at the moment. Also your b scenario doesn't make sense. I was tricked into thinking he wanted commitment so I must value commitment lower than attractiveness??

No, that's not what that means. I would never be with someone romantically/sexually if I wasn't attracted to them at all, similarly, I would never date someone who would have no commitment to me. Doesn't that make sense??

It is! While there are certainly women who only look for LT relationships, a lot of women don't.

Now first off, no one would pick 0% attraction, regardless of commitment. Second, when "picking people", people look for different things at different times. But the amount of people who read 50 shades does not reflect the number who enjoyed 50 Shades. There's a large group who bought it/read it to make fun of it.

Your assertion that women will choose a hot stud over emotional commitment has no basis aside from perhaps your own experiences and cherry-picked examples.

I'd consider being Secretary of State

I wouldn't call her incapable as secstate, and I certainly wouldn't call her worthless. But that's a personal opinion thing. But you did admit that Obama appointed her because he took the nomination and she didn't. So it wasn't because of who her husband was.

It might be how I was raised, but again, I feel empathy for most people. Thinking about it, the only ones I don't feel empathy for are the ones who lost my respect. I don't see empathy as something that people "need"; it's just something I experience when interacting with people.

You think empathy and lust are mutually exclusive?

See, you don't know me personally, but that again is decidedly untrue. I prefer my men less masculine.

Listen, she might have gotten her foot into the Senate in 2000 because of her husband, but she stayed in Senate on her own right. And Obama didn't make her Secretary of State because of Bill; he did it because she's a capable woman.

As a female, I can attest that I do actually have empathy for fellow human beings, regardless of their gender.
