In my experience, a lot of people are lying when they say they’re happily married. Or just blowing you off because they don’t want to have a more in-depth conversation about it.

Genuinely not trying to make light of your issue, it sounds exhausting. But I’m a “Wednesday night, every other weekend” dad, and I’d kill for 50/50.

I turned to drugs and alcohol to numb the pain, but I don’t recommend doing that. Not only do they add more problems, but it’s basically just kicking the can down the road when it comes to dealing with the grief and sadness. You have to feel it eventually.

Orion Taraban said it best - “What do women want? They want what other women want.”

I read somewhere that women who have a close friend go through a divorce are significantly more likely to then initiate a divorce in their own lives. My ex’s best friend divorced her husband and shacked up with a coworker. Two years later she (my ex) did the same thing to me.

I get it. My ex initiated my divorce too, and she is way further along than I am, because she had a huge head start.

It’s been four years since my divorce and my kid is still the only thing that keeps me going. Aside from the emotional trauma, the divorce ruined me financially and I’m still trying to pick up the pieces. I’ve been with two women that I met on Tinder, but both experiences felt very hollow, so I’ve given up on dating/sex for the time being. I have friends, I have hobbies, but I can’t enjoy them like I used to because there’s a lingering emptiness inside me that I can’t seem to shake. To be fair, …

It gets better, but it never fully goes away. I was with my daughter basically every day for the first eight years of her life. Now I’ll go five days in a row without seeing her. You’re right, it feels unnatural as a parent. It feels fundamentally wrong, and it isn’t fair to either of us. But her mom didn’t want to be married to me anymore and there was nothing I could do to change that.

My daughter was 8 when I moved out. That first night alone in my apartment was the worst thing I’ve ever experienced. It permanently broke something inside of me. It does get easier if you can just make it through the acute period. It’ll get easier on your son too. As far as tips go, I have none. I turned to drinking, but that’s obviously not a good idea.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
