Nice rational response to my very genuine criticisms of this insane proposition.

This sub is such a circlejerk it's no surprise the rest of the world don't take men's issues seriously. The vast majority of people are fine and happy not to have a DNA test. Forcing everyone to have a DNA test against their will is an absolutely ridiculous idea. The cost is far too expensive. The time spent doing this would be incredibly wasteful. And all to suit a relatively small number of people who want DNA tests but don't want to offend their SO's. How about don't have children with someon…

I get what you are saying but I don't think you feeling awkward about asking for a DNA test should force everyone else to get the tests done too. If men feel too afraid to ask then we need to be focusing on how to break down that stigma, not spend millions on tests that most people won't want or need.

Mandatory? That's ridiculous. It should be an option for anyone who wants one, but some people don't doubt they are the dad and some wouldn't want to know. If you want a test, sure. Go ahead, it should be mandatory for the parents to comply at the request of the other. But the vast majority of people won't want one.

The word majority doesn't imply 51-49 split at all.

I'm not sure I agree with you there. McDonald's got rid of plastic straws to protect the environment. They didn't need to. It sure as heck didn't bring them in more profit. I don't know anyone who uses them. If anything they cost McDonald's more than they gained from it. I think if we expect an entire overhaul of their whole ethos just because a new president steps in or whatever, we are being overly optimistic, however, I also think it's a bit nihilistic to suggest that companies never change f…

Even if they do change for good reasons, why support a company like that when there are plenty of other businesses who you could use. The glory of a buyers market.

People misunderstand the definition of feminism. Feminism is the activism of equality of the sexes through the advocacy of women's rights. This means that feminists can claim that they want equality due to the first part of their definition, but they ignore the entire second part. Their definition inherently suggests that men are already above women, and they want to give women more rights to make both equal. Yes, I believe they genuinely want equality in their own minds, but I also think they b…

My definition isn't right-wing whatsoever. Being smart is having privilege. Why does everyone assume that privilege is inherently a negative thing? There's nothing wrong with being smart at all, but it's silly to refuse to acknowledge that being smart does give you a privilege. And that's fine. Strawman me all you want, you are just digging yourself a further hole. And for the record, I don't believe that sex can be changed, and I don't think Trump is a fascist.

Yes, they do teach us kids logic actually, and I don't appreciate the personal attack. Makes you look like a right idiot. If you have an advantage that you didn't work for, you are privileged. If I have an IQ of 160, I am privileged to have that. I didn't work for it. That's just how I am. That's why as per your definition, we call people who were born into rich families privileged. If someone has hustled their way to the top-earning position of a company, we don't tend to call them privileged, …

A privilege is an advantage. If you have an inherent advantage that you didn't need to work for, you are privileged.

These are actually great points. I am thinking to myself now and you're right about the assertiveness thing. When a man's a cocky asshole, he gets called a cocky asshole. When a woman is a genuinely good, strong leader, she isn't called a bitch. Overconfident asses are called out regardless of gender.

You see I think this is difficult for me because they can list off a few ways in which males have advantages over women, which there are some. Even if it is just physical strength or whatever. Then how do I come back from that 'evidence'? Typically if a feminist gives me 3 male advantages, ill just give her 3 female advantages, but then they always claim that the 3 male ones are 'better' than the 3 female ones. So I suppose what I am asking is that when they present some kind of 'evidence', then…

With that last quote of mine you used I still would persist that both genders have their advantages and disadvantages. Even things we literally have no control over, like periods. Like yes, as a male I do have the privilege of not having to deal with periods. As a male, I do have the privilege of having an athletic advantage over women on average. These aren't necessarily things we can, or even should, do anything about. I don't deny that male privilege exists. Of course it does, but in the exac…

I'm not sure, and none of the downvoters seems to be explaining their views so I guess I'll never know. To be fair I should have made my whole view clear in my original post. Look at yourself, you disagreed until I clarified my statement further. When I elaborated a bit more, even if we don't fully agree I would like to think we reached a conclusion together that we are both happy with. I would imagine a lot of people just read my initial comment, had similar questions as you, and downvoted.

I don't think our views are mutually exclusive. If you consent to sex under the stipulation that you will be using contraception, and she intentionally sabotages the condom, then I don't think either of us agrees that the child should be aborted. Her action was to sabotage the condom, and the consequence of that is she should be responsible for raising the father being obligated to support the child. I know what you are probably thinking, but this is contradictory to your original view that when…

Not at all. One of the many consequences of sex is pregnancy. You don't put your child up for adoption during pregnancy. Giving the child up for adoption isn't you skipping the consequences of sex, you've already had the child. On the flip side, when the adoptive parents make the decision to adopt, they are assuming responsibility for that child, which is why I don't think they should be allowed to sue the biological parents for child support or whatever. Like no, you adopted a child and a conse…

Unpopular opinion: Reproduction is a consequence of sex. If you consent to sex, you are consenting to the possibility of that consequence and while there are ways to reduce that possibility (using contraception etc.), once you agree to engage in sex you are inadvertently agreeing to assume responsibility of any consequence of that action, including pregnancy. No one, man or woman, should have the 'right' to alleviate themselves of this responsibility. EDIT: I am actually surprised at the number …

One review found recidivism rates of 10% to 50% among pedophiles previously convicted of sexual abuse, although this could include anything from an arrest for any offense to reconviction on a crime against a child. I mean you weren't necessarily wrong but this says 10% to 50%, not just 50%. It also includes any crime committed, so I don't think this backs up the claim that 50% of treated paedophiles re-offend and 100% of untreated paedophiles do.

I think the argument is that if a woman can terminate a child up to, say, 24 weeks, then the father should be able to opt-out of responsibility for it too within this time. If the man opts out, then the woman still has the choice to abort the child if she can't handle it by herself.

When it's life or death, you can get your arm amputated, but no medical professional worth their salt will cut your arm off on the basis that it is your arm and so you should have bodily integrity. If there isn't a medical reason for chemotherapy then you won't be given it. You can't just walk in and pay for a round of chemo because you enjoy the sensation of being blasted with radiation. I've never really understood why in the case of abortion everyone seems to conflate WANTING one and NEEDING …

Makes sense, but other search engines like DuckDuckGo (as pointed out by other commenters) shows the desired results perfectly fine.

Why should I have to go searching multiple pages when I clearly stated in my search what I want to see? The exact phrasing of the question in Duck Duck Go (as pointed out by other comments) brings up exactly what I was looking for. There is no ambiguity, "Male reporter sexually assaulted by female" should bring up exactly that, not a whole page of articles on females being assaulted by males. Literally the opposite of what I searched.

Just for some context - I was trying to find that situation where a male reporter was sexually assaulted at some event and the women who performed the assault openly admitted it was assault, yet the police officer standing there watching it did nothing. It was fairly recent and I still can't find it so if anyone has the link handy I would really appreciate it.

Well according to it's definition, to conflate means to combine two or more pieces of information. Don't understand how I conflated those two phrases.

It's not that they deserve a holiday. No one said that here. It's about acknowledging that your parents look after you every day and love you and tend to go unnoticed, so you take one day to really appreciate them. We don't celebrate grandparent's day because we have mothers day and fathers day, and (spoiler) you have to be a mother or father in order to be a grandparent. No one is saying you need to force appreciation onto your parents on their respective days, it is just a goodwill gesture to …

I actually disagree. I think it's quite sad that you believe mother's day and father's day are unnecessary. I mean if we are talking literally then yes, they are not essential to our survival as human beings, but I think it is a nice gesture to those who look after us our whole lives and see no issue in it. We don't get off school or work for it, it doesn't effect productivity and can help boost the economy. Why should we get rid of them?

Definitely. I know I am talking about facts in my replies to you but even I didn't think to check the poster, I assumed it was real on first impression which I totally agree, is a problem. I am in full agreeance with /r/MensRights's movement, but we can't fight a battle with wrong facts. There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics - Benjamin Disraeli

And because they don't get checked. It's not something that is a huge issue among men so people aren't really cautious about it.

I am not saying I agree with the poster, the facts are misleading, it isn't surprising that an Australian poster is using Australian statistics. It is like a poster in America saying "1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer". It may only use American statistics, but it isn't really cherry picking. Bearing in mind that even though the statistics shown in the poster are true in the context, the numbers don't show a huge gap in the deaths between men and women. Only ~500. With the sources…

Again, this is an American source but 1% is probably about right. Even still, breast cancer is easier to detect in males because we naturally have less breast tissue than females.

True, but if we are talking about Australia, 28 men are predicted to die from breast cancer, which is a very small percentage

A) Those facts are from the United States only B) It probably means over time The latest statistics I can find show that in 2012, 307 000 men died of prostate cancer, while 522 000 people died from breast cancer in the same year. So yes, you are correct. However, I couldn't help but notice that the website at the bottom shows an australian website, so I did some research and in Australia, it is estimated that in 2017, 3 452 men will die of prostate cancer, while only 3 087 women will die of brea…
