I don't know what to think. It sounds like she's into this behavior from you, and you enjoy your role as well. If that's the case, more power to you both and I wish you well. Though, I find it really odd that you get upset when she's giving you no options, when that's exactly what you're doing to her.

When the state calculates child support, gross income is used....taxes don't factor into the equation. True enough. I was just commenting that he's got a lot on his plate. Although, hospitalists right out of residency making $300-$400k? Seems very high to me. With benefits, maybe.

You're assuming you'd win, no question, and completely free and clear. Maybe so. But that seems like a huge risk to me. Far better to not put oneself into that position at all. I do not think he should suggest marriage, even in jest.

If he's doing internal medicine, I seriously doubt he'll be making that much. If he's a cardiologist, maybe. But then, he wouldn't be taking home nearly that much after taxes. Not to mention the massive loans he's likely to have.

Careful. In many states, simply suggesting marriage is sufficient to imply a promise. Women have sometimes gotten compensation just as if they had been married and divorced, simply because they effectively had a verbal contract of marriage.

The title makes it seem like she was the one who falsely accused him of rape. For those who didn't read the article, apparently he was wrongfully accused by others, and she supported him during the ordeal and the first decade of incarceration. Still an odd story, but she's nowhere near the demon I first thought.
