Legally, in the United States, it works like this: You don't have the right to kill the fetus. You have the right to remove the fetus, and the unfortunate fact that it's unable to sustain itself afterward is a byproduct. Not accurate. Under the law a baby has no rights as it not considered a life until the 2nd-3rd trimester. A person's right to bodily autonomy does not make it legal to kill incidental offenders of said autonomy. The only reason abortion is legal is because the people like yourse…

The fact you expect such crude and pathetic insults to have any beneficial outcome shows how limited in capacity your thought process truly is. You only serve to undermine any chance you had of you opinions to be taken seriously.

No brain activity, no heartbeat and no motor functions take place until that time. Braindead comment about fetal development. You are either willfully ignorant or lying. Heartbeat and motor functions begin well before the third trimester. Heart beat and movement can be seen in the late first trimester, and brain activity becomes apparent in the second trimester. If your litmus test for life was based on the same criteria you attempted to use in your diatribe against the use of abortion statistic…

Free speech. That is no "call to violence". Snowflakes of all stripes use the same stupid logic to try and shut down viewpoints they don't like. Be better than that.

A) You're saying the only law that matters is the stuff you could go to jail for? Remember, I said the legal definition of assault, not that it constitutes a criminal offense in all circumstances. Your disregard for tort law and state law sounds like really lopsided thinking. I disregard Tort law in this discussion because such Civil Liability laws are not written with the protection of society in mind, but for the restitution of defined illegal acts. Criminal Law will put me in prison for viola…

Intentionally putting another person in reasonable apprehension of an imminent harmful or offensive contact. No intent to cause physical injury needs to exist, and no physical injury needs to result. So defined in tort law and the criminal statutes of some states. My definition was the default criminal definition of Assault in the United States. Yours was for Civil Liability and some States. Attempting to use a definition such as the one you provided that is only irregularly applied to criminal …

I don’t agree that we strive to make people feel safe. We strive to ensure peoples safety, and as a consequence, you generally feel safe. So while the feeling of safety may be derived from being safe, being unsafe does not derive from feeling unsafe. As such, society should be primarily concerned with ensuring the safety of its citizens, not their feeling of safety.

Hmm, no I had never heard of it. Thank you. Curious though, while you may have heard of it, did you take the time to read your own link? The fourth is freedom from fear—which, translated into world terms, means a world-wide reduction of armaments to such a point and in such a thorough fashion that no nation will be in a position to commit an act of physical aggression against any neighbor—anywhere in the world. Well, as they don't bother to provide an explanation, and I don't feel the need to beg one off them, we will just have to make some assumptions. Seeing as I had a grand total of four comments in that sub, neither of the other two were any more offensive than the one above nor garnered the amount of down votes. So I found it logical to assume those last comments were the proverbial "straw" in thier eyes. Or it was the mere fact that I participated in r/MensRights, which is even more of a reason t…

I think you may be missing the context a bit, as I specifically avoided linking to the post in question. While I think such notions should be confronted, having a flood of MR comments would only further convince them of the righteousness of thier victim narrative. No, the standard is not based on how safe you feel, but how safe you actually are. You may feel unsafe, and the situation may reflect that. Or you may feel unsafe and the situation does not an reflect an actual threat to your safety. The key point is not your feelings, but the reality of the situation.

How do you objectively determine if you are safe? Are you safe right now from deadly airborne pathogens? Are you 100% certain you will not be struck by a rogue meteor in the next hour? From my post above. So if you do not feel safe regardless of being realistically safe, that is your issue. I never argued that you could be objectively 100% certain of your safety, only realistically so. The threat of a rogue meteor with a personal blood feud is quite unrealistic, so I have no right to expect prot…

So you need to feel safe to pursue happiness? While feeling safe is good, being safe is really the only objective goal we can strive for in society as a whole. Individual mental states can only reliably be controlled by the individual. So if you do not feel safe regardless of being realistically safe, that is your issue. If it presents a barrier to your ability to pursue happiness, that's your problem, not society's.

You come across as condescending, so whether or not your points make sense, people are less likely to be swayed by them. Hmm, you have a point here. This medium does not lend itself well to easy transmission of tone and emphasis you get from verbal communication. I was going for more no-nonsense straight talk, but I can see where that could be misconstrued. Except for that last bit about life lessons, that was all intentional snark/sarcasm, as I was getting exasperated with the entitlement narra…

You are free (at least in the grand ol'USA) to express yourself in anyway you see fit. You do not have the right to have said expression validated, appreciated or curried too. Only two replies up.... You are setting up a false dichotomy here. Your options are not only Conformity or Starvation. You are free to make any choice you want for your life, but you are not owed a reward, or even tolerance for those choices. Life is not fair, it can and does suck, make of it what you will. No, you are not owed a job just because you exist. You are owed nothing but the opportunity to continue to exist. What you do with that opportunity is up to you. While Canada is running headlong into the arms of socialism, your southern neighbors have not yet given into the siren song of Socialism, with its honeyed words of "fairness" and "social-justice". Socialism only ever exists at gunpoint.

Employment is not a right, it is a privilege. When you accept a position, you accept the terms and conditions as laid out by the employer, or not. Business have the right to define the conditions for your employment, within certain basic health and legal guidelines. If societal norms lean towards acceptance of short-haired men, and your business relies on catering towards those customers, requiring your male employees to have short hair is not unreasonable. Requiring business to cater to every e…

Men's dress codes are a men's issue as much as women's dress codes are a women's issue. It's tiny and almost utterly irrelevant... I'd hazard to even put this in the realm of "men's/women's issues". Painting minor annoyances as "issues", is the first step along the slippery slope of outrage culture that fuels the SJW grievance train. If we want this crazy ride to ever stop, we need to stem it at the source.

It is a private company, they have the right to provide dress expectations to anyone who voluntarily accepts employment by them. This is not a policy denying employment based on your sex, this is a dress policy outlining acceptable dress for each sex. You are free to dislike their dress policy, and subsequently refuse to be employed by them, but labeling it "sexual discrimination" is silly. tldr/sjwtrigger:Hooters *Edited for spelling... and hooters :)

Ugh, do we really need to be nitpicking company dress codes?? They have a right to define the standard of dress for thier employees. If you don't agree, don't work there. We do not need to go down the SJW micro-discrimination rabbit hole.

But if i feel like the basic genders dont represent my thoughts accuratly incan categorize myself in a more fitting way. And therein lies the main issue the article was attempting to point out I think. For you to feel the need to identify other than the base binary, you have to define the base binary. Can you succinctly define male/masculine and female/feminine for me? Will I identify with your definition? Will anyone else? Ask 100 people to do the same and you will not find a singular definitio…

I'm not sure what your definition of gender would be then. Are you making the argument that gender is not tied to sex? If that's so I'd be interested to know how you define it (within the frame of your argument).

and so long as their is no legal bias, then their should not be a problem in allowing themselves to identify however they want. I wholeheartedly agree with you. Belief is not reality. I could believe that I am the second coming of Christ, but I have no right to expect you to treat me like it.

I don't see that as an error. Gender is a synonym for Sex. Attributes are assigned to a gender/sex based on societal expectations, but failing to match an attribute does not mean you are not that gender/sex. Being Male/Female doesn't require compliance with a specific attribute or even whole sets of attributes. If I were to describe an apple to you as "A red spherical fruit that grows on trees and has a sweet taste." I would be correct, at least for a subset of apples, and in my town we may only…

I disagree as well. If you read the article, you will have noted the main assertion the author makes is that the entirety of non-binary ideology is built upon a series of straw-men assumptions, ascribing attributes to a specific sex/gender and using those straw-men as proof that gender is non-binary. Non-Binary ideology: "Male/Female = X, I != X, thus I am not Male/Female" The same type of process is used by Feminism to marginalize and denigrate Men. Feminist Ideology: "Male = X, X = Misogynist,…

The alternative is stoicism which isn't working out for us that much so we should probably try something else... So our best option, outside of shutting up and taking it, is to play the victim card for cultural pity points? It's the audience who chooses the game not your opponent. There is no audience in life, you either participate or forfeit.

If we live in a culture of victimhood that is the correct and only sensible path to redress grievances This just in... Identifying victims of injustice can be the catalyst for true change, but relying on political capital garnered from your victim status to make any real societal change will only lead to the need for more victims. That is the rabbit hole that the feminist movement has gone down. I see no need to follow.

I'm not sure how you can point out a systematic inequity without bringing up "X has it worse than Y". I agree. Using comparative analysis to highlight an issue is fine. I am talking about what happens next. For Example: How would you respond, if when discussing gender issues with someone and you state that "Men suffer inequality in regards to X" then use statistics to show that X affects more Men than Women, then your detractor counters by pointing out "But Women suffer Y more then Men do"? Do y…

There is a difference between victimhood narratives and force protection. They can resemble each other at the superficial level, but they are in fact very different. I agree that victimhood narrative can often be difficult to spot at a surface level, which is exactly why we should be vigilant in its detection and denouncement. I don't believe that feminism went from suffrage to man-spreading by deliberate design. We need to be careful that as the tide begins to turn, we don't allow our victories…

I have no issues with women speaking about Mens Rights. Men are routinely ignored when we attempt to make our voices heard, and it is shameful that protestors will use that to their advantage to shut down a viewpoint they fear. The point I was trying to illustrate is that I often see the discussions/arguments/assertions devolve into oppression one-up-manship, where each side is trying to prove how much worse they have it than the other. Those tactics are widely used by the feminist/SJW camp, and…

I have to disagree with your characterization of the article as "Bullshit". While you may not be donning the armor of a woman's skirt, it does not mean it is not happening. I don't think I am the only one to have seen a rise in some men flying the MRM flag at the "Oppression Olympics". When the primary arguments move from "My Rights have been violated/ignored" to "My rights are being violated MORE than YOURS!!!11!", we move into the realm of victimhood. And as the feminist movement has shown, no…

I think the author has a point here. How far down the rabbit-hole of victimhood will the MRM go before we become that which we rail against? Shining a light on injustice and hypocrisy is not only good, but a responsibility of any decent person. But using such injustices as a cloak for personal gain or to excuse oneself of personal responsibility for their actions is reprehensible.

I would have to agree that there is little likelihood of either of us changing the others mind here to day, so in regards to the abortion/adoption subject, I will not delve any further. I do though have to clarify that your characterization of me supporting "no choice", as being quite off base, though I expect it was not intentional. First off, this line of dialogue is a bit outside of the scope of the OP's post, so hopefully we can keep this brief and not derail the original topic. To answer your question in one word: Yes In two words: Mostly Yes In detail: I am not a supporter of abortion outside of strict exceptions for the health of the mother, and rape. Even in the instance of rape I am strongly against that it being a primary option. I believe adoption is an option only in the event the parent's (note the plural) are I…

There is no "true" feminism. The moment you start speaking about "true" anything you have either just invalidated your argument, or crippled the chances of getting a satisfactory answer to your question. Though in my experience I have seen several posts I would consider to be mired in a narrative of hate, though they rarely make it very far before having their nature revealed. Personally I don’t see a issue with hate. People should hate evil and immorality, and when it rears its ugly head you sh…

I never made claims to the impossibility of failure. Men try and fail, then they get back up and try again. If they cant get up, others lend them a hand to get back on their feet. Life can and does suck, and you will fail. Failure as a consequence need not preclude the action. I never suggested he had any true control of the situation as a whole. I am being entirely realistic about the outlook of the choices he made. Regardless of the legal obligations he has, of which he has minimal true control over, he is likely going to be a Father for the rest of his life. His control is limited primarily to his own actions.
