OYS #10 Background: 37, married for 10 years. Two kids under the age of 7. 5'11, 160 lbs. Physical (1RM): squat: 195. Press: 155. DL: 205, weight pull-up: 26. Tested my RM max. Results above. I used a calculator to determine 1RM based on weight I could do 3 reps with. Continuing to work on hamstrings stretches. Incorporating cardio on my off days. Reading: I got the book Tactical Barbell and have been reading through it. Good reference, nothing earth shattering. I think that as I get a bit more …

OYS #9 Background: 37, married for 10 years. Two kids under the age of 7. 5'11, 160 lbs. Reading:Virtues of selfishness. Physical: 135. Press: 125. DL: 155, pull-up: 10. All in pounds. All for 5 reps. No major changes. Workingthe 60 days of dread challenge #60DOD. I started by making a big list of why I lift. I came up with the following: The challenge of pushing my limits and the focus/discipline required to keep improving. After looking at why, I wanted to look at areas where I could improve. …

OYS #8 Background: 37, married for 10 years. Two kids under the age of 7. 5'11, 160 lbs. Reading: Reading over my notes. Reading atomic habits along with the virtues of selfishness. Physical: squat: 135. Press: 125. DL: 155, pull-up: 10. All in pounds. All for 5 reps. I feel that I could do more in the press. Other lifts seam about right, but I suspect my form is keeping me back. I have some slight back pain when doing squats. Other shit: Finished NMMNG again. Big moment for me was coming to see…

OYS#7 Background: 37, married for 10 years. Two kids under the age of 7. 5'11, 155 lbs. Physical: Started a new program cycle. Adding more weight to the lifts. I figure I will run this for 6 more weeks and go and test my 1 rep max on squat, DL and press. My own weight has not gone up as I would expect. I haven't been consistent with tracking my calories. Reading: NMMNG. This is a re-read. I missed a lot during the first two passes of the book. This reading I have begun to really connect some of …

OYS#6 Background: 37, married for 10 years. Two kids under the age of 7. 5'11, 155 lbs. There are no shortcuts. There are no cheat codes. STFU and do the work. Reading Back to WISNIFG and a bit of NMMNG. Big insight - I put others needs before mine. Physical Keeping to the program, three times per week. Been adding weight. Numbers are still pathetic. Relationship Past few weeks the number of rejections were higher then usual. Typically when rejected I leave the room and go do something else arou…

I think that you are bang on with the overthinking and the sidebar reading. I need to STFU and follow the program.

This all makes sense. My initial thoughts on just STFU was that it was going to be too autistic. I think that if I frame it as chasing her it makes a bit more sense in my head. And as far as the delegation, this is a big one for me. Been thinking about it for a bit as to what is at the core of this. Ultimately I think it comes down to conflict. I don't know how to handle the conversation if they say no. TBH I never thought about it like that before.

OYS#5 Background: 37, married for 10 years. Two kids under the age of 7. 5'11, 155 lbs. Reading Completed most of the sidebar. Reading Day Bang (30%) and rereading WISNIFG (20%). Think I will shelve Day Bang for now. Physical Squat, floor press and deadlift. Been adding weight every week. Numbers are still pathetic. My weight is going up as well. BJJ on the back burner for now due to scheduling. Relationship The dancing monkey post got me thinking on how I try to seek validation from my wife. On…

OYS#4 Background: 37, married for 10 years. Two kids under the age of 7. 5'11, 150 lbs. Feedback from last post was to read WISNIFG again. Will add that to the queue. Read it in a bit more detail as I don't recall slot from the book. Workout going well. Adding weight and working on form for the lifts. Weight myself at 155.3 lbs.. I have started to track my weight every Sunday to see if I am making any progress there. Rambling below on current mindset: I am the dancing monkey. Was doing a bit of …

OYS #3 Background: 37, married for 10 years. Two kids under the age of 7. 5'11, 150 lbs. Missed last week. Dealing with some depression. Out of the hole now and back on track. Physical Started up a new training program. Squats, press, pull ups and deadlifts. Numbers are pathetic really. I tell myself it is because I am learning the movements and don't want to hurt myself. Might be some truth to that or I'm a huge pussy. Whatever it is, at least I am moving weight and not just doing bodyweight st…

Yeah I am coming to the conclusion that I need to eat way more then I think I do. Tracking calories is one thing. It has at least shown me that I need to get more protein.

OSY#2 Background: 37, married for 10 years. Two kids under the age of 7. 5'11, 150 lbs. Short post. Post from last week had some good feedback. Basically got called out for being a skinny bitch. Point taken. Started to track calories. Came to realize that I need to eat way more. To help build mass I am also working on building out the gym in the basement. Power rack on order and should be here in a few weeks. Been in the works for awhile, just never pulled the trigger. Got out of the house on th…

You hit the nail on the head. I probably look closer to Guy Pearce in Memento then Brad Pitt in fight club.

Background: 37, married for 10 years. Two kids under the age of 7. Physical: 5'11, 150 lbs. Skinny fit. Doing a rings workout from GMB, along with BJJ 2-4 a week. Reading: Done most of the side bar stuff, some books multiple times. Just finished 48 laws of power. Been lurking here for about 15 months. Found this place after being in a dead bedroom. At one point it was a 6 month dry spell. After some hard work I started to turn my shit around. There were lots of ups and downs, but I feel that I a…
