Not only is this important if you go out with an "agenda" to pick up women, but it's important for life as well. Learn how to go out and have fun for fun's sake. I've seen a lot of marriages (even alpha male types) that suffer because after the 1st few years they stop doing anything. Because neither of them ever learned how to go out and JUST have fun. If going out is always something you do to scout women and you have trained your behaviors to do that, then what do you go out and do when that's…

This is best simple advice to give to men thinking about marriage. 15 years and I have slept in the guest room a few times because the wife was sick and I didn't want to catch it. It all comes down to not giving into the idea that she is ever entitled to anything just because she is a woman. Mad at me for some reason and don't want to share the bed? Fine I'm sleeping in it go find somewhere else. Try and pull some kind of rant because I bought a brand name you don't like? Don't ever expect me to…

I've only been married 15 years but I am in the same situation. Fiances have always been merged. All bills are OUR bills, Money is OUR money. Granted i have been lucky in that my wife and I have stayed comparable in our earning over the years. I manage the bills and handle money because she is just bad at it. We have a monthly budget but it is not broken down for the 2 of us to each have x amount of money. In 15 years I have only ever had to say anything to her a few times about issues. Sure she…

Sounds good for the most part. Married life can change that as well as if you have a large difference in income though. For example if you make 100K per year and she makes 40k, then are you going to want to live a lifestyle that she can afford 1/2 of? If so what are you doing with the extra money you have? If she has to stretch her finances to the limit to cover her 1/2 while you are buying toys or just socking away money she will start to resent it. Are any kids bills split? Who covers insuranc…

It's good you got this out of the way early.Married life IS different, but some rules always apply. Even when the wife works and earns a good amount/same as you never fall into the trap of "Her and His finances". It can be tempting to keep your stuff separate from hers.... but I've seen it backfire so many times. If you let her have "her money and her bills" you can easily find yourself in a situation years down the road where she has done no late life preparation and has run up huge debts. At t…

I think it was more doable 20 years ago. I say this as a 43 year old married 15 years. Women (and a lot of men) are a lot more immature in the late teens/early 20's than they used to be. And the real problem with that is simply the fact that they will change A LOT from 21ish to 26ish. A lot of the "being adult" changes, have in my experience moved later in life. When two people like that marry there is a big chance that by the time they both finish the process they will not care for each other t…

The simple fact is my wife is shit with money lol. Over our years of marriage she has improved a lot, but if we counted on her to budget or balance a checkbook we'd have gone bankrupt with bounced check fees in our 1st few years. I don't keep her on an "allowance" so much as I keep her informed ahead of time how things are. "Mortgage and insurance just auto drafted and paycheck will not deposit for 2 days, so don't buy anything out of the norm tomorrow". Any major purchase she always clears with…

Very much the same here, married for 15 years. I think one of the biggest things to realize is that deep down most women prefer it this way. After so many years of marriage my wife doesn't even blink when she tells her friends that she is quite happy not having to make household decisions or plans. I plan the budget, pay the bills and when we make plans I ask for her input but I will make the eventual decision.

Very nice post. Pretty much sums up my relationship with my wife. A lot of her "work friends" that are not close with us always seem to tell her what a jerk I am for the way i tease her. She usually responds that Yes, I'm a bastard. But I'm HER bastard and she wouldn't have it any other way.

Agree with a lot of what you say. Wife and I both work so I have little fear of the whole "lose 1/2 of everything" situation. And we have no (and will not have) any kids. I'm not actively looking to replace my wife, but I enjoy flirting with women and do so for fun. I work at my job, not to increase my value in her eyes, I do it for MYSELF. You should not be in any marriage where you feel like you are toiling to increase/prove value to her. Rather the things you WANT and LIKE to do should be the…

No problem. I just wanted to explain. I've never done an illegal drug myself (except underage drinking). I was always leary of being arrested like a couple of friends were in my teens. But I'm not against them. Weed especially should be legal IMO. After that...... I'm more wishy washy on other drugs. I'd say MDA could be legal, maybe some of the hallucinogens as well.

To be fair about the money thing. It wasn't that I "put her on an allowance" as much as I didn't trust her to balance a checkbook. Because she couldn't. Back then there was no Internet or even really text banking. And she tried to do her checkbook with constant calls to the bank to see how much she had. This inevitabley blew up in her face a few times. I "handle" the money in that I pay the bills, I plan for things and manage savings. A few years after marriage she started using a debit card and…

No. I have a few friends who smoke weed to this day. But they know to never bring it to my house. Personally I think it should be legalized. But at the time she was on probation for 6 months for some stuff she did before I met her. She also worked somewhere that did random drug tests. She was really just starting to get her life together after hitting rock bottom. I didn't want to see her mess that up. Plus I was NOT going to get pulled into an issue of her trying to keep weed or anything at my …

Amen to that. I find myself having more trouble remember WHEN things happened that i do remembering them. I find myself saying things like "Did we know X yet back when D and C were a couple?" a LOT.

To avoid the creepy factor I do make sure I never flirt with anyone working (no waitresses for example). Also I have tended to avoid it with younger women as I have gotten older. 30 year old flirting with a 20 year old is ok. 40+ doing it tends to go into the creepy side of things for most.

No problem. Was happy to post it since a few had asked. Now not so much now since my poor memory of details from 10 years back seems to have doomed me to not be believed. But it is what it is. If you liked it I'm glad.

I'm rarely flirting with any purpose to "close the deal" it's just for fun. Strangers I tend to just go with innuendo and double entedre stuff. She says something about being teased I'll respond with "oh don't you like to be teased?". Nothing major just having fun. Female friends I'll go farther because they know it's for fun and they will flirt back the same way.

43 as of March. 42 is a hard habbit to break typing though. Like wise i won't have been married for 15 full years until next month in June, but I have already gotten into the habbit of saying 15.

Shit like this is why I almost didn't write this. My birthday was a few weeks ago. Sorry I still type 42 instead of 43 at times. Sorry I also didn't bother to have the right game a guy I barely even knew 10 years ago played. It was a something fantasy and MMO related I mistakenly assumed it was WoW because really that's the only one I know the name of. I don't play MMOs at all.

At a wedding of some friends. Sorta. We realized later we had both ran into each other a few times before and not really noticed each other much before that.

Maybe tonight after work. It'd take it's own post. Might be worth an "introduction" style post. I only found TRP a while ago and have been pleasantly surprised to find a place where most of the ways I've lived my life are reflected.

She does. They are "besties" as they call it. The 3 of us are together occasionally, but that's not a common thing. Married to the wife for 15 years now and we have been in the current situation with Kay for 10 years now. It's a long story how it all worked out.

I have to agree. As a 43 year old I find I'm having the best sex of my life with a 40 and 42 year old right now. The trick is as always understanding you need to find the right ones. The 40 year old is a fitness instructor and has a better body than most of the 25 year olds that aren't actively into some kind of fitness program. The 42 year old is my wife and I have made sure she has kept in shape over the years.

Been a lurker here (and Reddit in general) for about 6 months now. I never registered because I rarely want to comment. But I feel I really want to comment on this. As a 42 year old guy married 15 years with a group of friends that go back 20 years (or more), it was not until a close female friend of me and my wife started talking about TRP and how it related to our social circle that I started coming here. Ok not trying to an introductory post here, but you get the idea. In our group we have ab…
