This makes me want to throw up.

Yeah, this whole idea makes a mockery of informed consent. I realize that medical professionals are and have been involved but they can be shopped for, and it's hard to look at this and not see an agenda being pushed.

I don't think anyone can say that with any authority, puberty is a tailor made maturation for the body and the mind. How can you declare a gender misidentity without finishing the process of becoming the gender in the first place.

I wonder what the psyche looks like after delaying puberty for a number of years. The changes in identity and thought processes are just as significant as the physical changes during puberty, I wonder what that experience is like.

This is really the only constructive alternative I've come across yet, all or none vs some.

So wait, if I verbally and physically assault an uber driver and upload the video of me doing so, I get a trip to NY to hit the national morning show circuit?

Out of curiosity, can you inject Javascript run server side too?

Luckily the Internet doesn't have designated safe zones. Really the only 2 states of a server are secure and pwn3d.

Those statements from the board are the most carefully worded sentences that I've read in a while.

I don't feel comfortable seeing a story with this level of brutality in this sub. To me it has less to do with gender roles and more to do with mental health problems. Anyone who perpetrates that kind of violence on a child is clearly a sadist or a psychopath, or both.

All points about custody aside, this will backfire spectacularly. You can't physically force your teen to do something? A court order 2.5 years before they turn 18 will clearly win them over with reason.

Heed this man, it's one thing to read about some poor bastard trying to prove a negative and fight abuse charges, but finding yourself in that pit of hell is quite another. Even if you can vigorously prove your innocence you'll still come out damaged goods. Be careful.

I lived in that state of despair for 6 months before prevailing and getting full custody, but every day before the judge signed the order was filled with black fear knowing that she had to lose before I had a chance to win. My heart goes out to any naive dad who walks into a custody hearing and gets slapped the reality that he's not on anything close to a level playing field

You'd think, at least I did. I try not to let it bother me, the hive mind has too much going on to wrestle with and not being able to see the breakdown of up/down you don't get a sense of where you stand.

Jesus christ, those kids don't have a chance. That's so sad, I mean I'm no king but my son will grow up knowing that my focus is him and I'll never stop trying to make his start as solid as possible. Those kids aren't going to get anything like that and all because they got a shitty mom, no fault of their own.

They're referring to how CPS works with family courts, once an allegation of abuse is made the system starts working on the assumption that it is true, regardless of evidence or investigation. From there you have to prove that you didn't do something just as much as they have to prove that you did. Factor that with young children who don't understand the whole situation and what it means, and not having the ability to speak with them yourself and you've got an uphill battle to prove innocence

I had to defend exactly this style of wild west custody proceedings, it literally turned my life upside-down and inside out for 3 years. It could have sunk me if not for my keeping meticulous records, hiring a good attorney, and most importantly the other side being incredibly stupid and flagrantly undermining their own credibility. Still, I lost 3 years of my life and about $30k, but I have full custody of my little boy. 2 bruised apples are better than none.

For once I would like to see the femrage crowd suggest a solution that they could live with instead of a chorus of whargarbl and outrage.

I came back to the comments to say something about the idea being interesting but that all the "bitch/cat fighting/emotional" references totally undermined the article overall, that was my plan. Then I realized that the article was written in the first person by the owner herself and figured that if anyone could get away with the name-calling, it would be her.

That's just the first fight, then comes the 3 or 4 year custody battle royale. If you think this is ridiculous, wait until you try to get custody of your children as a single father, I came away with the impression that most judges think that single fathers are mostly abusive pedophiles in waiting. (I won full custody tho, took 3 years and $22k and some stunningly stupid moves from my ex)

Jesus christ, legal proceedings aside, can you imagine how dark this kid's world got? One minute he's graduating from high school and looking at his lifes horizon and the next minute he's in a jail cell looking at spending a chunk of his adult life in jail. Even if everything goes his way he will be damaged goods for years.

That's a refreshing change from the direction these kinds of posts usually take. I went through the standard narrative that pops up here every now and then add this is one of the very few that didn't prompt me to PM words of solidarity and support for another guy who is getting raked over the coals. Your son's mother is an exceptional person.

Even after listening to the girl double down on psycho there will still be a sizable group of people who will blame the guy for having done something to deserve it. So twisted.

It never ceases to amaze me how people are so quick to respond to MR issues with anger and hate. No thought occurs between reading something and criticizing it. I mean anyone with the ability to reason should be able to see where the mr movement is coming from. But no, instant hate and criticism. Just wait and see how those same people react when trying to get custody of their kids in a "mom state." Not so marginal now is it.

Aye, you and the other gentlemen commenting are making me re-examine why I change genders to suit my wants. I said below that his mother and I have a poor relationship, bad enough it seems, that I am changing a story if the mother is saving the day. So in my quest for neutrality I am really just being passive aggressive. Thanks for the fresh air though.

Fair points, maybe I am getting wound up over nothing. It seemed like the natural response, but it may be due to the poor relationship his mother and I have.

I certainly don't, and that example was a little extreme so I apologize. What I meant is that certain stories have a morality structure that favors one parent over another, or is disparaging towards an absent parent. A real example might be the father in Hansel and Gretal, in the beginning he is a nice/caring parent but under the direction of the wicked step mother (who tells him to get rid of the kids). I have heard other single parents reading a story and using the story to lob barbs at the ot…

Once again you guys impress the hell out of me. Instead of jumping on the "see?! Even SHE thinks so!" bandwagon, you remind the OP to not call out her entire gender, but rather to work from within to bring understanding and information. This is what separates MensRights from other groups fighting for true gender equality by spreading hate and misleading information.

I can't read things like that without feeling frustration, I am physically agitated now... That mindset is so cruel, it boggles the mind. I read an article last month that was talking about the range of topics on reddit and the writer made a reference to reddit having its hearty share of nutjobs, and in the same sentence referred to /mensrights as a hate group... I was already familiar with the subreddit at the time, but it still strikes me when I see people label the MR movement as something fo…

There is a predisposition toward cancer in African Americans as a whole, and if memory serves me right, it is a fairly significant percentage. I want to say that AA men are a little bit less than twice as likely to develop prostate cancer than Caucasian men. It's not just gender tho, because AA women have a higher risk of developing breast cancer than Caucasian women.

I have stopped dating. I was head over heals for a girl, we were engaged and had a son together. Unfortunately there were patterns of behavior that were insurmountable. Since then I've found that dating isn't worth it, I have a son to raise while I go to school full time and work full time. Trying to date on top of all of that just isn't worth it. Plus I don't trust myself as much because the last time I seriously engaged a relationship it turned out to be cataclysmically bad. I have been strict…

I would call social services, however that's how this whole mess got started. My ex took my son to the doctor and somehow got him to say that I had burned him with a cigarette on accident, the doc thought the marks resembled cigarette burns so he called dss. Of course I didn't burn my son with anything intentionally or otherwise, and the 3 other adults in the house agree that he was fine when he left. DSS concluded that the burn had occurred and was likely accidental, and that there was no reaso…

I was afraid that was going to be the answer. I have a lawyer already and hopefully we'll be filing tomorrow or the day after, but even then it'll be a slow march to get him back. Thanks though, I don't like it, but I also don't want to escalate this hell any farther than its already gone.
