Well I suppose in that case she’s providing the safety net herself (the mass entry of ‘independent’ women into the workforce is a major factor here - singledom for mothers used to not be an option economically). True, but I think it’s more to do with the level of wealth of the society, and particularly women having access to resources to help them raise kids sans the biological father.
