Not when the argument has already been disproven by other means. It's just the gravy - you don't need it to survive, but it adds flavor.

You lose the argument the minute you trot out some ad hominem shit about people's appearance. No, we don't. And I wasn't talking about her appearance per se, although that's a part of it. I was talking about her entitled attitude and what she thinks. If someone thinks counting calories is oppressive, they have a shitty entitled attitude. And that's exactly the problem with these SJWs. They live a destructive and entitled lifestyle, have a destructive and entitled mentality, and that's true with …

tasteless comments about women It's not a comment about women generally. It's a comment about an individual crazy feminist SJW, who also lives up to the crazy feminist SJW stereotype. The act of conflating "all women" with "crazy feminist SJW," and saying we can't criticize the latter because it's exactly the same as the former, is what needs to stop.

I totally agree with your high standards of decorum, u/johnnie-fuckwit. Surely, with a name like that, you know all about how to be taken seriously. Perhaps your other comment "Good on those crusty hippy bastards" is more like what I should sound like? What's the last thing you've done for the "movement" as a political force other than commenting anonymously or talking to people 1 on 1?

We should celebrate too. This will only frustrate and turn away customers, and cause more work for the staff. More work for less money. In this case at least, capitalism is only a bitch if you are.

Honestly, if you are helping people you should still be careful. Never let your guard down in a place you don't know, around people you don't know, and especially after dark. That doesn't mean you should treat people like they are criminals upfront, of course.

No no no - women should be allowed to falsely accuse men of rape and that will never trivialize rape no matter how much they do it. But if people actually acknowledge the problem, THAT becomes the problem.

No one who so privileged that (s)he is exempt from selective service should ever be commander-in-chief of the armed forces. Those who are first and foremost on the chopping block of war when governments get it wrong deserve the first and foremost vote. This is simply "my body my choice." Equality requires not just equal rights, but also equal responsibilities. You want in the club? Fine, I'll support you - so long as you pay the dues everyone else in the club has paid. It's not about stooping. Just a different perspective. If someone jumps in my car, points a gun at me, and tells me to take them to my family, I'm going to lie and say we're headed there right up to the point that we arrive at the police station. Nothing immoral in such a deception. In these, as in many occasions, countering vastly superior strength that intends to do you harm with cunning is a valuable skill. Granted, it's not one for everyone. Enjoy your fake moral superiority.

Already have a database of lawsuits due to false accusations, so it would be kind of redundant. But thanks for the suggestion.

I agree there. But there are many ways to subvert one's opponents instead of converting them. Double-agents in the right places at the right times are highly, highly useful.

A battle is fought on many fronts. Slipping behind the gate to open it from behind so your forces can go through requires stealth and deception, but yields great results if executed properly. We can be "honorable" (like Ned Stark honorable) and "transparent" and grow very, very slowly, or we can be surreptitious and unpredictable and win faster, bigger, and more often. I think we need more Tyrion Lannister and less Ned Stark. If that's not peoples' cup of tea, well, that saves me the time of cre…

Well, all I can say is I disagree. All war is deception, and we are at war. If anyone is joining these clubs thinking they are only about cake and ice cream instead of establishing and expanding a power base, they are in the wrong line of business.

That terrorism exists? That ISLAMIC terrorism exists. The words Obama and many of his cronies don't have either the courage or honesty to say. Thanking CAN be gloating, but it isn't in this context, not even for Trump. The full context of the quote says otherwise.
/r/MensRights13/06/16 09:03 PM

Thanking people isn't gloating, sorry. Especially when it's followed by a context that has a strong "BUT" feel to it. Also, Trump properly called out Islamic terrorism as a threat. The backlash is over people who didn't want to admit he's right. If people truly believe that he "gloated" about being right, it begs the question as to why those same people don't credit him with actually being right. It's just the same old, same old: trying to throw whatever accusation at the wall they can to see wh…

Nice job quoting only half the tweet. Now here's the full tweet for the real context: "Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic terrorism, I don't want congrats, I want toughness & vigilance. We must be smart!" Hmm, seems a bit different now! Gloating? That's stretching quite far. Telling people to be smart and vigilant is about saving their lives. /r/MensRights13/06/16 01:49 AM

He was not gloating. You are drinking the kool-aid and repeating a lie. Trump was thanking his supporters for thanking him for being a voice for these people. That tweet was then twisted by the hatemongerers on the left and the sour-grapes neocons on the right to somehow mean that he was gloating about the killings. In the very same tweet he said that BUT...now is a time for being tough and smart.

Yes, I am, actually. We need a different type of volunteer right now. I'm trying to create a database that compiles ALL the groups out there working for educational equity for men and boys, no matter what the area (educational achievement, boys' health, due process, etc). What we really need right now are people who are interested in doing some research, with some guidance from me. We have other databases we are working on, but we already have some help in those areas and this is one area we cou…

No, I'm afraid I don't, because quite frankly no one else gives a damn to make graphs like those because the implications of the data are an inconvenient truth. Texan and former teacher here. To be technically correct, according to Texas law it's not rape for a lower ed teacher to have sex with a 17 year-old because 17 is the age of consent. It is a crime, however, for a teacher in lower education to have an "improper relationship," and that's exactly what it is defined as in the law (see the poster above).

I wouldn't call that oppression, though. That's such an extreme word. Oppression involves things like gas chambers, death camps, epidemics of extreme (and fatal) starvation, mass homelessness, mass incarceration, and so forth. Things women have never really experienced as women.

they are still doing damage by doing nothing. You can say that about just about any cause. Why don't we have a bunch of white people go and harm the lives of black people who "aren't doing anything about black crime"? Oh wait, that would be racist. Civil disobedience is one thing when it directly relates to the people who are oppressing you - for example, failing to comply with a law that states you can't ride on a certain seat on a bus. Going out and just terrorizing people who aren't directly harming you and ruining their day out of petty vindictiveness is another. Feminism is a female supremacist movement. Of course it's a bad thing. We'll just have to agree to disagree here.

It's not just social media. It's also many leading feminist advocacy organizations, feminists in the mainstream media, as well as academic feminist "professionals." It doesn't matter how many moderates there are if the radicals are the ones with the power. Most Nazis in the 1940s weren't radicals either, but it doesn't do Jews a lot of good to tell them that, and trying to tell them that would be strong evidence that the person making such a claim is missing the point. Punishments for filing false reports really need to be classified or scale according to the seriousness of the false accusation. Well, all I can do is again point to NCFM. Yes, the majority of the MRM treats activism as a spectator sport. In fact, the 999/1 ratio may be an understatement. At this point there isn't much reason to ask for donations if we can't get the human capital to do any leg work. Truth be told, we may have to start looking outside the MRM to make real change.
/r/MensRights19/10/15 05:30 PM
13

Yes, the MRM generally has little traction in the real world. That's because for every 999 people saying "someone should do something" there is one person who says "I will do something." The only question is, which one are you? Don't complain about why no one else does things the way you think they should be done. Build the dream, and use your example to encourage others to join you. Also, virtually everything you are saying has been done by The National Coalition for Men, with the exception of …

I could explain myself again and again, but people who are convinced otherwise and have an ax to grind against Paul / AVFM will never believe me. So I'll say this - take it or leave it. It ("it" being the one of several reasons I changed the name) is not about AVFM per se. Relaxing and talking with a few friends and fellow activists, sitting on a few porch chairs in the middle of nature, high up in the mountains while some of us gather around a campfire and cook a few home-cooked meals, is a much more accurate way to characterize 95% of what happened. Yeah, 50 minute interview. Sorry for the slip up for that 90 second stretch. An admitted slip, but hey, we all have our days. Oh, and just for perspective, the movement won't die because one person didn't have an immediate question for 5% of their 50th media interview. It will die because we have 50,000 people who only know how to complain on obscure internet forums and only 300 in the world who actually want to do work to contribute to a real movement. 250 of them aren't even in the U.S.

Not local school districts per se, I'm talking state education departments. It's good to have an agency to simply collect data and provide large-scale analyses / snapshots of a nation's educational health. Individual states won't do this because they are only looking after their own. Also, this approach actually helps the whole "states' rights" approach, because then people can see at a glance which states are performing well and which are not, rather than just leaving it up to individual states…

The plan for creating a ranking of colleges and universities for how male-friendly they are was in the initial concept of A Voice for Male Students, but actually implementing the idea would be very difficult as we have to first have a massive amount of data to compare many of the 7000 public institutions with each other. And we have nowhere near enough data for private institutions. As for schools that have a men's rights organization, I have a small database at present which I am looking to exp…

When women lie about birth control, or use a man's sperm in such a way without his knowledge or consent, I put those women on the same moral equivalency as a rapist. What they did is not rape, but it is a staggering violation. And I think men are fully entitled to defend themselves from such women the same way that women are fully entitled to defend themselves from a person attempting to rape her.

But then we have to consider that, by that thinking, men who are falsely accused are often shocked and confused as well, which would make it laughably easy to get a confession from them as well... ...and our justice system does rely on those confessions.
/r/MensRights08/08/15 02:21 PM
5

The problematic premise there is that a false accuser is "shocked and afraid." They are typically nothing of the sort; they are manipulative and calculating, even when they suspect people are sniffing out their accusation. I think this is a case where society generally does not give women as much accountability as they generally deserve. Women are characterized as emotional, not logical. I believe women can be very logical - and hence very calculating. "Feelings" are often a front and a facade.
/r/MensRights07/08/15 11:01 PM

False accusations are made for many reasons. If it is made to provide an alibi it is not malicious, but it is still a false accusation. Not sure if we are in agreement there based on how your sentence was worded.

Paul's approach is not the end-all-be-all, but it is a necessary one. As a sociopolitical movement we need both academics and fighters. Unfortunately, the two do not always go hand in hand. Ultimately, the problems affecting men and boys are due to the fact that people just don't care (male disposability). Some people don't care because they don't know, some people don't know because they don't care, and some people won't care regardless as to whether you give them facts or not. I adopt a very a…

Proving a negative is incredibly hard, that's why thinking just anyone can do it - especially in a he said / she said case - is irrational. Furthermore, false accusers are so rarely punished in even lenient fashion that an accuser today assuming she could receive a serious sentence herself is incredibly remote. Also, your premise works both ways as well. If harsh sentences deter genuine victims from reporting rape because people could be wrongly convicted, by that same logic we should refrain fr…

There is a regret asymmetry because there is an entitlement asymmetry. Our culture tells women that they are entitled to sex + a promise of goods and services when they have sex with a man. Doxxing isn't bad in all cases. When it is used to expose the evil of others in a way that does not place them in immediate danger (example: naming home addresses) it is a form of social good.

Doxxing is only bad when it's things like home addresses /etc - things that can place them in credible danger. Otherwise, doxxing can be a social good. Well now you're looking at a different scenario; the daily life of a hunter/gatherer society vs war, the latter of which brings out the best and worst in everyone. The lawsuits help in so many ways. They let the wrongly accused know they are not alone, help them chart out a "battle map" by letting them see what charges are being filed, help them find qualified attorneys, and so forth. And the database helps gain publicity for this issue by amassing them all together.

Well, calling someone a rat isn't the same thing as calling someone a Stalinist. Stalin killed more people than Hitler, so I don't think the equivocation holds up very well. When someone is called a rat, most people do not conceptualize that as the same as being called a power-hungry mass murderer.

"Referring to people in certain groups as animals such as rats, cockroaches, insects ... recalls the worst moments of history." I think that would be a better point if by "certain groups of people" you were referring to groups identified by their genetics or their birth-group (men, women, blacks, whites, etc), rather than ideological tribes. I don't see a problem, for example, with someone calling a group of white nationalists who want to ship all blacks to Africa a group of racist rats. Do you?

We are better when we don't make false accusations of misandry. And we aren't worse than them when we criticize their false accusations of misogyny - which you seem to suggest we avoid doing. What you are advocating isn't really avoiding sinking to others' level, but indulging in their intellectual and moral dishonesty. If people make a false accusation of misogyny and use it as a suppression tactic, they deserve to be called out on it. It's that simple.

No, he didn't say that. And no, I'm not saying he did. But you're not reading me correctly. I'm not talking about what he said. But according to your logic, if you don't think it's misogyny and instead people not taking our claims seriously, you are also invalidating the experiences of Feminists who feel that all our claims are misogynistic to begin with. Do you genuinely think saying "men suffer from false rape accusations" is misogyny, as many of our critics claim? Calling BS on that statement isn't "invalidating" misogyny, because that statement in and of itself is not misogynistic. If we accept the idea - as you suggest - that "misogyny" is whatever Feminists feel it is (and if we disagree we'd be "invalidating misogyny"), then we might as well pack up and go home, because according to them this entire subreddit is misogyny.

Just so there's no misunderstandings, let's keep in mind that you're asking a group of people who aspire to behave like the faculty at Duke University whether they criticize patriarchy theory. We've seen how far their critical thinking skills have taken them.

You've never heard claims like reproductive drives are the underpinnings of much of human behavior? Have you never heard of evolutionary psychology before?
/r/MensRights05/08/14 11:21 PM

None of the numerous definitions of patriarchy by Feminists account for evolutionary psychology. There is a substantial amount of evidence that most social stratification on the basis of sex is in fact the basic reproductive drives of humans carried out on a large scale. Feminists dislike such angles because they imply that men and women are both responsible for the world we live in, rather than just men. In addition, it also means that women have power in and of themselves. Consider the fact th…

Yeah, but being president of an English Honor's Society doesn't in and of itself make you a rapist because you have sex with some student who's not involved in campus life. Also, the above scenario you described may "open the door" to abuse, but that's not in and of itself rape. And that's what the policy is about. So your constant attempt to pretend that the policy says something other than what it actually does really amounts to either: Trolling, or Immersion into an ideology to the point that…

The only naive one here is you. They don't get to walk free, unlike these "oppressed" women. They polygraphed both the accuser and the accused. If you think they "threatened" the accuser, then you need to bring you…

As I said in the article: There’s a difference between satire that employs metaphors which credibly parallel real-life situations with the goal of pointing to a higher truth, and satire that just flat out makes things up…while attempting to suggest – through satire – that those made-up things are the actual truth. This is an example of the latter.

I think there is also a benefit to about 1,000 people getting up in a school administrator's face over and over and over for a prolonged period of time as opposed to one person getting in his/her face one time. Simply put, if you tie up all their phone lines they can't conduct normal business and therefore they are forced to address the issue. This would be very FTSU/direct-action oriented.

Consider the possibility that the use of phrases like "the first AVFM-backed student organization" is done - at least in part - to not step on the toes of organizations like NCFM, which actually got around to starting men's issues groups earlier. Also, there is a small history of men's issues groups forming and then being very quickly disbanded (or more accurately, crushed) by Feminist pressure around ~2005, before the explosion of men's issues blogs, and before YouTube and Reddit even existed. …

This reminds me of a part from the book The Giver (which presents a subliminal critique of dystopian societies), just in reverse. It would highlight the particularly bad effects of misandry and be a good launchpad for further discussion on anti-male bias in academia. The idea is that it would be something for newcomers to the movement. Arranging these videos from 1-10 in terms of how bad they are would help facilitate this, since it "ramps up" how bad the school is with each new video. For example, your point could be referenced several times in the series.

Sensationalism? I disagree. I can find "women's advocates" speaking out about men's issues. But I can't find Feminists - the ones who keep talking about patriarchy nonstop. The ones who talk about rape culture. And so forth. There's a difference between women's rights and Feminism.

"Can't we just remove the zero tolerance policies?" It's a good start but doesn't go far enough, in my perspective. Under a legal concept/precedent called "in loco parentis," administrators are afforded wide latitude in how they administer discipline because they are acting "in the place of a parent" (that's what the Latin phrase means). Thus, schools are empowered to act in such a manner regardless as to whether they have zero-tolerance policies are not. Such policies are really just another la…

I would agree. They tend to cut out a little more time of schooling per week, but the continuity will likely have a positive effect. Not just when it comes to sex! When a criminal breaks in at 2AM in the morning, both sexes tend to expect that the man will be the one to shield both of them with his body and his life. Same thing when they are attacked on the street, and so forth.

@Nicemod, and other mods: in the stickied thread concerning UCSB you say "New posts of this kind may be removed, unless they have some other significance." I'm not sure if my post meets the criteria of "some other significance," but I don't believe the angle of the anti-gay crowd commenting on the UCSB case has been brought up here. I'm not sure what you want to do with this post, but of course feel free to do whatever you think is best. Thanks!

I just wish people would stop using metaphors to broken phalluses to illustrate the problems men face today. "Broken Tusk" sounds a lot like that. I don't want to hear about how boys are being "neutered" in lower education. I want to hear about the barriers they are facing. I don't want to hear about how men who unthinkingly support Feminism, no matter how bad some of them act, are "psychologically castrated." I want to hear about them, but not in that way. Ah, I see. Thank you. This may help. The article cites three separate attacks: An attack on an all-boys school (Sept of 2013) An attack on a coed school (February) An attack on an all-girls school (May) The phrasing of the article works with #2 specifically, but not especially with 2 and 3. But admittedly that's not even how I intended it. The bolded part can be removed. I think your point would be stronger if a mass execution was a one-time event, where they do it once and are done. But when it is demonstrated that an extremist group makes a pattern out of mass executions, a lack of coverage is less understandable, because that bolsters the concern of "what is going to stop them from killing again?"

Thank you. I think I should have made this point clearer in the article. Edit: and if earlier intervention might have saved both, it should also be presently argued that intervention now might save both in the future. But that's not what's being argued in the media, government, etc.

I read the article. There is some research that strongly suggests that female teachers tend to evaluate students based upon their own conscious or unconscious (or "implicit") biases. I reviewed this article yesterday because I was considering publishing it at A Voice for Male Students. For me, however, this article came on very strong in rhetoric but was very light on evidence. It really should link to the study it's predicating its claims on upfront, but I didn't see a link in the entire articl…

The problem isn't addressing the fact that black boys/men tend to be the hardest hit by race/sex/class issues. The problem is that people in power - especially those in "diversity" positions - will only help men as a group to the extent that they belong to another group that they actually do care about. They will never admit that problems like homelessness, overincarceration, job deaths, and educational underachievement affect men and boys as a group disproportionately worse than women and girls…

Actually, yes I mean those liberals. Not all liberals are communists. But the thing about these "progressives" is that they tend to only acknowledge that the school-to-prison pipeline exists when it affects racial minorities. Boys are SOL. But some of us are getting the word out.

Well, I don't think "moving the goalposts" is the correct phrase since that idiom carries a connotation of deception. I acknowledged my error with how I phrased the earlier question, and returned with a question which is both more relevant and more representative of my concern. The purpose of moving the goalposts - as a rhetorical device - is to deflect attention from a question, which doesn't happen when the speaker acknowledges the error before moving on. There is a fair degree of intersection…

Actually modern conservatives are well known for their law-and-order approach to crime. Liberals favor rehabilitation rather than punitive measures. Also, liberals have historically been at the forefront of opposing the phenomenon called the school-to-prison pipeline. Also, I wouldn't trust many school officials - teachers or admin - with a gun. Not in this day and age.

Yes, and I've occasionally seen women arrested for domestic violence. But there is an overriding cultural narrative that men by default are dangerous, which is one of several reasons why men are disproportionately profiled and arrested. Just because it sometimes happens that women are arrested for DV doesn't change the fact that there is a strong bias against men that leads to them being disproportionately profiled and arrested. Same thing with zero tolerance policies.

I'd like to think And that's the problem. What you're really saying is "I assume." I'd like to assume that if teachers teach a definition of consent that is really rape that bad things won't happen. That things will "turn out ok," despite the incompetence or ulterior motives of certain educators. But education and indoctrination are very powerful tools and should not be underexaggerated. Enthusiastic consent is not the legal definition of consent. Neither is "affirmative consent," which requires a verbal "yes." Public school teachers have no reasonable expectation of privacy because they are public figures. THAT is the truth. Anything else is lies. teaching kids her fucked up definition of consent isn't going to make anyone falsely accuse someone of rape who wouldn't otherwise have done so. Do you believe that in reverse? For example, do you believe that if a generation of teachers teach impressionable students to adopt a definition of consent that is actually rape that one of them won't internalize it and go out and rape someone thinking they were actually having consensual sex?

Her offense is misrepresenting the law, encouraging her students to internalize those misrepresentations, and then exercise them in their daily lives. If you don't get how that's a problem, then switch it up and ask if it would be a problem for a teacher to teach that it's ok for a 40 year-old to have sex with an 8 year-old.

Let's remember that, at the very least, in many educational institutions this would be considered a breach of contract and unprofessional, and hence grounds for dismissal on that fact alone WITHOUT making it a political issue. This is not what doxxing is. Doxxing is where you take someone's private information and make it public. In any case where the school might be contacted about her article, for example, this is quite a different story: a public institution being contacted about her public actions, where she she talks about what she is doing in that public institution (an abuse of power). Once women are slaughtered like cattle on the front lines of war and die on the job in numbers even remotely close to men, then I'll believe women are "owned by the system" as much as men are. Women have always opted for equal "rights" before asking for equal responsibilities, and they have a lot of catching up to do. But if women are complaining now, it's because they've only begun to taste what men have been going through forever.

I think it depends on how you interpret it. If you believe that education is a human right (and men's rights are human rights), then I think this would be the correct place. A disorder that overwhelmingly (~83%) affects boys is something we need to keep tabs on, because how our education system accommodates (or fails to accommodate) those with such a disorder could infringe upon their right to an equitable education. Of course, we may simply have to agree to disagree.

It's changed, but that's not the reason for the spike here. This study was done in 2010, before the definition was changed in 2013 with the release of the DSM-V. What makes people think that this study includes the expanded definition is the fact that although the data was collected and tabulated three years ago, it was only published just recently. Right, but a key difference between then and now is that historically boys haven't been without male role-models at both home AND school simultaneously during what are aptly called their formative years, like many of them are now. When boys have no direct male role-models among adults, they tend to look for them among their peers. Given that their peers are still maturing themselves, this leads an unfortunate number to delinquency, which has a direct impact upon their educational outcomes. There…

So a person's feelings that this man's death matters more than a petty and misguided grammar debate makes no difference in the world? Well, at least you're being transparent about what you think. It would make a difference if you actually were so obviouslycorrect and if your "contribution" in any way outweighed what you take away from the conversation surrounding this young man's death. But neither is the case. Not by a longshot. Some people are so full of themselves that they can't stand being …

Educational equity. Mainly because it's such a huge issue, I have a lot of experience and research in it, and because, well, it's just gotta get done somehow. That's not to say that I think it is the most important men's rights issue. I definitely think education issues are "up there." That's just what I'm prioritizing, for the reasons given above.

"Being passed out does not have to be unique to being drunk for 'passed out drunk' to be a state of drunkenness." It can be reduced to simple math. Speaking in terms of whole numbers, 1 plus 1 equals 2. And 2 is not 1, even if it is made in part from 1. 2 has at least 1 in it. But 1 does not have 2 in it. Similarly, it is being "passed out" plus "drunk intercourse" that makes drunk rape, which requires the two elements combined. Just as 2 has at least 1 in it, drunk rape has at least "passed out…

It doesn't matter whether it's "just" the United States, or whether it's the United States at all. The idea of saying "I own this country because I'm this skin color" is morally wrong, regardless as to whether white, black, or brown people say it. You don't even mention the "fallacies" you accuse me of using (except strawman, which we'll get to). You just say "you're using fallacies!" Not good enough. In the real world, having privilege does not automatically and in and of itself mean one is part of an oppressor class. That may be how lefty postmodern extremists think, but that's not how the world actually is. Just because those people abuse words like privilege and equality, and use them dishonestly, doesn't mean we have to. And no, I do not "spontaneously" pick up political torches, let alone Feminist ones. As you can read in my article, I don't really like Feminism. I'm simply been one who…

Also, higher education is not a "privilege" whenever you have paid for it. The university has a contractual obligation to treat its students fairly and equitably. And it should also have such an obligation under Title IX. Unfortunately, pretty much everyone who enforces or creates guidelines to enforce Title IX has a huge blindspot toward men and boys. Whites do face discrimination and hatred. I agree there. But that doesn't justify nationalism. You might also consider the fact that the racism of nationalism provokes these zealots who promote white guilt even more. Also, male privilege and white privilege are different. White people genuinely are the majority race at the top of society, but are not the majority race at the bottom. Males, by contrast, are the majority sex at the top of society, but are also the majority sex at the bottom. And t…

I'll have to disagree. Anything can be an addiction. That's not to say that we don't falsely label regular consumption of porn as "addiction," which we often do since we live in a culture in fear of its own sexuality (especially male sexuality). But that doesn't negate the fact that some people can be addicted to porn.

No, white nationalism is indeed racism. So is black nationalism, for that matter. There's a big difference between saying "we need racial and national purity where our nation is set up by whites and for whites, and we have to drive out people of other races" and saying "it would be unfair for whites to vanish completely from the earth." MRAs are not "male nationalists." They don't advocate having their own country. They don't advocate a country by men, for men, with all the women driven out. Tha…

You can be passed out without being drunk. Hence, being passed out is not unique to being drunk. Therefore, it is not entirely the same thing. Being too drunk to consent can be rape if you are passed out, but simply being drunk is not in and of itself nonconsent. The problem is that Feminists/Regressives argue that in all cases in which a woman is drunk (not just those in which she is passed out wasted) she cannot consent. Furthermore, even when a woman is wasted and passed out, it's not the drunken state that negates her consent. It's the fact that she is passed out.

Your tattoo "example" - if even honest (not counting on it) - is still nonetheless an exception. We can (and often do) hold people responsible for killing while drunk, driving while drunk, and so forth. That means we have strong legal precedents for holding people responsible for their choices while drunk. You're exactly right that having sex isn't a crime. So stop accusing men of rape simply for having unforced drunk sex. No one is comparing being raped to committing crime. They are comparing c…

"So being raped is the equivalent of driving drunk or beating your children?" Strawman fallacy. Drunk sex is not in and of itself rape. As someone who taught English at the university level, here's where I disagree. You rely on the dictionary as if it is in and of itself determinative of meaning. It is not. As a general practice, while the dictionary may be a useful index in triangulating meaning, it is not the final arbiter of meaning itself. Language is very often (though not absolutely) socially constructed. What this means is that everyone, to a greater or lesser degree, has a part in the determination of meaning. That does …

The bigger picture is that men and women accused of statutory rape are treated very differently. I think we agree on this. The age of consent can be argued back and forth, but it really shouldn't detract from this. Also, I think not seeing oneself as a victim may be important, but it isn't in and of itself determinative of whether someone was wronged or exposed to dangerous situations. Headlines are very misleading (if not fraudulent). Police determined she made a false accusation and that the sex was consensual. She and her partner were punished by her school for lewdness. She was not punished for making a false report. Feminists and the accuser wanted the school to do its own investigation and punish the accused through its lower standards of evidence. Their "activism" incurred a Title IX investigation. NBC happily obliges their rape hysteria.

It is not a conspiracy theory. It is an understanding of the general culture of academia based on someone who has lived and worked in it. Academic officials are obligated to perform due diligence on all accusations. If they do not, they can be held liable under Title IX for "not doing enough to help rape victims." The two are not as comparable as you suggest. A key difference between anonymous police "tip" lines and a campus "court," is that the former actually has standards of evidence and procedural safeguards for due process. An anonymous false accusation made to a school administration is thus far more likely to result in a young man having his life destroyed than an anonymous accusation made to the police.

Making false claims of criminal behavior is easily condemnable, but flooding the form with nonsensical statements is another. The form was set up - either through reckless negligence or deliberate apathy toward victims of false accusations - as a tool of abuse. Flooding it with nonsense statements merely clarifies the main problem with the form: that anybody can come by and post anything. I believe that point has been made. Also, letters of outrage are not productive unless they are posted publi…

You win the award for being willfully obtuse to the point of being an obstructionist troll. You're the kind of person who would say it's not racist if a law barred people from voting whose ancestors didn't own land prior to the emancipation proclamation. "After all," you would say, it "affects white people too." Indeed it does. It just so happens that it overwhelmingly affects blacks. That's how Jim Crow laws worked. Just because the letter of a policy is gender or race-neutral doesn't mean it a…

Since you are drinking from the goblet of Feminism, I doubt you'll see the error of your ways regardless as to whatever arguments anyone makes.

Bullshit.

And there you tip your hand, my friend. Your answers are straight out of the Feminist playbook. Here's some truth for you: No one knows the exact percentage, or even a close approximation, of what claims are true or false. We don't have the science to get close. Anyone who pretends otherwise is both ignorant and arrogant. Far better to be humble and admit what we do not know, than to plod forward in ignorant self-righteousness. All we can do is examine the process and try to make it fair for bot…

What's with the fedora shaming. I mean, i don't wear fedoras, but it sounds really silly.

Because it's actually a service for false rape accusers, since it benefits them more?
/r/MensRights17/12/13 08:43 AM

Well, it's quite simple. When people are raped, they feel ashamed. The process of coming to terms with their experience is inherently self-shaming, regardless of the method employed. That's how rape works. I shouldn't have to explain that, but oh well. We can argue back and forth on this, but my position is pretty much set: there are a variety of methods to report rape. When such is the case, speaking out against a singular method of reporting that is rife with the potential for corruption - if …

There are no shame-free resources, anonymous or otherwise. That's how rape is.

Yes, you're exactly right. We said all those things. You aren't an idiot desperately trying to project your own neuroses onto others. lol

Exactly. Not only do the police still exist, it's still an option to actually walk in to the Dean of Students or Title IX Coordinator's office and file a complaint.

Well, I'll take your word for it. People can always search for it if they want to. I found it via Google in like 5 seconds.

"Hello Occidental, I'd like to report a rape. My roommate totally raped my cookie stash. How can I file a formal complaint about this?"

Occidental does indeed respond to them. See here: http://www.avoiceformalestudents.com/occidental-students-want-power-to-make-online-anonymous-false-rape-accusations/

By the way, folks, here's the anonymous form through which students at Occidental can just accuse other students of rape willy-nilly: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dFNGWVhDb25nY25FN2RpX1RYcGgtRHc6MA#gid=0

It was just the other day that there was an article linked here about the problem of Feminists falsely accusing people of rape to "raise awareness" of the problem of rape. Tell me how men are responsible for that, or better yet, tell me how "Feminism is working on it."

My comment on the article: It is not correct to label a prepubescent child's behavior as sexual because prepubescent children are not capable of sexuality. They are only capable of imitating adult behavior which they do not yet understand. The label of "sexual harasser" will have no affect on the 6-year-old boy's immediate behavior because the label itself is alien to his understanding, and indeed alien to his very age group. Like all sexual harassment accusations directed at prepubescent childr…

I could. Some are more recent, some are from the 90s. I left out the dates because people tend to get wrapped up in them and may think that the mentality isn't still out there. To me the problem is the worldview behind these false accusations, rather than the occasional incidences in which they are expressed. But I'll consider it. If it helps, people can always read the links in the stories as well and see the dates themselves.
