That's like saying basketball is stupid because you aren't good at it. "Party conversation" can be as simple as asking people how they know the host and talking about the people at the party. I feel like you are ejecting because things are going really well, and you want to leave on a high note before the situation gets less interesting. This way the girl only remembers you as this interesting guy she only met for a few minutes.
