There are so many violence against women groups and so many broad stroke statements basically preaching that men are terrible people and that men can't feel pain or hardship because they have "been on top" for so long. And you also noticed I voiced the exact same thing you brought up, that is about 1095 women being wives/girlfriends. But the article made a statement that over a third of women murdered were done so by their male partner. So lets look there. According to this chart there were 603 victims that were the wife of the offender and 492 victims were the girlfriend.
