She was also part of making and growing the business and a heavy stockholder herself when they split.

Thank you for the clarification. Bullet points are just for organization. No rampage or ill will intended.

"You have to be ok with that tree being poisoned." That is from your comment. It implies abandoning something you see as a lost cause. And I said you were coming across as condescending. I'm not insulted by that because your advice is at best poorly thought out from a parenting perspective. This is highlighted by the fact that I haven't down voted you. Now I think you're just kind of a dick who doesn't think before speaking/writing.

Trying to do that and as difficult as it is, trying to keep up hope that she realizes I am fully in her corner. Even when she's mad at me.

We have a child together. We just wish we had done so sooner. I haven't stopped living my life or looking out for my wife and son. Daughter has been in therapy already. While this time period is hard and I am having some issues with coping since it is my daughter, I do love her, and I want good things for her. You don't abandon your kids though. That's why I will continue making periodic contact in hopes she will start responding. It is just painful to continue getting the silent treatment. I'm …

She definitely got to see emotion from me. My parents both came from pretty emotionally weird families but one thing there is plenty of is expression. I just learned how to do so without the temper they both have. It is why I've gone to counseling previously. I do tend to get a little flat when I am really buckling down to get things done during stressful times but not with my kids. Thank you for the thoughtful reply though. I can definitely see the point you're making as I have been pretty vigi…

Yeah she was. That has been a repeat occurrence with other admissions that later turned out to be not how she really feels. As far as I can tell at this point, she likes boys and is into art, music and science but has become extremely lazy about pursuing any of them. My parents divorced when I was 7. They spent the next 10 years bashing each other constantly. I left her mom when my daughter was 2. I won't load my stuff on her. She gets to form her own opinion of the people in her life. It is not…

Yeah. Just turned 14. The thing is she went from years of being upset with her mom when she would catch her lying but being afraid to start living with me more of the time because she thought her mom would never want to see her again. For her, im a safe one to lash out at because the only time she ever really gets in trouble is if she either lies or does something with a pretty clear intent to harm someone/something else. In the last 3 years she has undergone a lot of changes both physically and…

Takes a long time for some. I'm currently in the middle of my daughter suddenly refusing to talk to or see me starting a couple months ago. Her mom has told her that I: Cheated on her constantly (it was the opposite) I am gay and left her for a guy (I am married to the woman I met a year after I left her. I have no inclination toward same sex relationships. I was a diver for 10 years and have a lot of gay friends but that is about it.) I only care about my career. (If this was true I would've ju…

It really isn't. When Bezos had his stuff published it showed that both he and his wife had vested interests in the company which is why they had a pretty even split among many corporate assets. That shifted once personal assets showed and he ended up not losing half his net worth due to diversified asset investment. He is not paying alimony.

True but again, it was faulty reporting and I'm guessing this will be an even distribution of assets as he is wealthy himself. Granted she may have to pay him for services rendered on investing if she benefited from his knowledge of investment banking.

Considering the amount of tax sheltering they all do, the only business we generally do is consuming their content and products. It is pretty much a one way street. If you go the route you're discussing, then all people that own businesses, make products, etc should have to publish their full financial records on a regular basis to ensure they are fiscally responsible and ethical. That would give a good basis for knowing whether your investment in then had merit. Publishing the nastier financial…

I think it is wrong then too. I think most people just don't care even though "journalists" publish it.

I'm a guy who loses a quarter of every paycheck to a previous relationship. I get it. I'm just saying that close to equal earners or people who can easily maintain accustomed lifestyle usually don't end up paying each other much when a judge actually makes a ruling. This should be applied to everyone. I just hate how toxic this sub and r/mensrights have become with this stuff. Stop focusing on celebrities and uber wealthy people. They get different treatment regardless. And this is not a denial.…

Well the original article had some issues. Claimed she had a £170 million net worth and owed him $140 million in settlement or something like that. That isn't the case. She has the original net worth in pounds but it was just bad conversion that led to a ridiculous title. There was no indication they had finalized a settlement yet, nor was it made public in the article. And honestly it shouldn't be made public.

To be fair, dude is an investment banker that came from serious money previously. She worked her way through the ranks of trying to make it with music. A lot less people trying to work their way through accounting firms than through the entertainment industry and even fewer born into a connected world. He likely had a somewhat easier path to both inherited and earned wealth than she did. Pretty sure they should just let each other earn what they earn and do their best to coparent. It would give …

Also, as a Vanderbilt he probably could have had much faster ways to make new boatloads of cash than starting into journalism. Especially since he started out doing scut work for a small news agency despite his connections and internship.

No, I think they are misremembering. I believe this happened on The Talk and it was Sara Gilbert arguing against the response.

Again different strokes for different folks. My primary concern is my family and doing some amount of good in the world during my life. I'm not advocating that people believe exactly as I do but frankly I'm tired of attempts to coerce me into believing anything by either religious or consumer groups. Hence my desire to see the current approach to holidays in general revamped. Not everyone puts religion as their primary concern. Assuming that or pushing the idea that since it is your personal bel…

Different strokes for different folks. My being American has no impact on how I feel about Easter and Christmas. I don't enjoy Christmas for gifts. I enjoy it because I actually get to see large portions of my family together. It doesn't happen at Easter. Yes, that's a personal reason to prefer one time of year over another. No, it doesn't change my opinion on the matter. I don't enjoy Christmastime due to any religious sentiment and I only call it that due to being raised in a predominantly Chr…

I say ditch all the fake holidays including Mothers day, Fathers day, Easter, and all cards for any holidays outside of Christmas (or the cultural equivalent) and birthdays. It's all a conspiracy by greeting card companies for profits anyway.

This is part of American culture, not any one subculture of it.

This is not true everywhere. Pennsylvania courts use your net income after applicable taxes are taken out. Therefore it behooves you to get as many pretax deductions as possible.
