Neither should be “obligated,” bodily autonomy for both.

Yeah, these social media clowns honestly think they’re smarter on the subject than ACTUAL clinical psychologists. Another ploy to deny men’s issues and then throw them back in our collective faces.

I wouldn't say it was even necessarily "couched" as a reply to male loneliness, I think it was more using something familiar as a segway into something funny instead. Either way, I wouldn't put it in the same category as the unserious "mEn'S lOnELiNeSs Is SeLf-InFlIcTeD!!!!!1!!!" schmucks. Certainly not yet, and in general he's smarter than that.

I don't see much a problem. He's a comedian making jokes about silly "bro" influencers. Hardly the sort of flippancy that gets lobbed at serious men's issues by actual harmful ideologues. This video seems like more or less a non-issue. Humorlessness is always a setup for failure, I think.

Didn’t his wife groom him from when she was 39 and he was her 15-year-old student?

I’m sorry, this is just shitty. Ironic how TERF shit gets everywhere.

I mean, maybe point out how “pick me,” though it may have meant something before, seems to be misused to the point of being a genderswapped version of calling a male feminist a white knight. “Did you get picked yet?” is basically “she’s not gonna dm you bro” at this point, as far as I’m concerned anyway.

MaleSurvivor.org for me. If you’re across the pond, check out the Men and Boys Coalition and the ManKind Initiative.

The two are intertwined. OzyFrantz, a writer who I recommend strongly, has written of this in zir essays, stressing the need for feminism AND masculism.

The "space" you talk about, politics, has been unavoidable for the past 6 years and counting. In said space, Walsh's name is everywhere you look. Another thing I'd consider noting: when Akana said what she said, it was intended as a joke. Obviously, NOT FUNNY. Still, she is hardly the only comedian to have made such a mistake. If we're to point out a double standard, let's use one of her comedian peers, Daniel Tosh, and the controversy he's courted for similar material. In contrast, Matt Walsh i…

You’re not being “supportive” or “an ally” in the slightest. Telling people to “stop complaining” IS NOT being an ally in ANY scenario. But you know this. You’re a bad faith troll looking to give your ego a boost. Don’t let the door hit you.

Men aren’t giving up. But they’re also not getting anywhere with tone deaf, disingenuous “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” claptrap like yours. If you knew what you were talking about, you’d know that male survivors are already doing what they can. Groups like the ManKind Initiative, Male Survivor and guys like James Landrith have been fighting for years. You really think they need YOU to tell them what they need?
/r/MensRights27/11/22 09:40 PM
1

This is tone deaf. Yes, women had to work their asses off to get their movement ahead and should be applauded for it. However, whenever male survivors try the same they are shut down, with (mostly white) radfems claiming that they are “already working for the interests of male survivors.” Yet, whenever one tries to take them up on that, they are shit down with phrases like “not now” or accused of “derailment” or told to “go start their own thing.” When they try, they are shouted down like before…

And Matt Walsh, along with other right wing grifters, is a household name, day in and day out.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/11/22 06:43 PM
6

But why the need for dog whistles? We’re not some right-wing conspiracy theorist group. Just say radfems. The second-wave (usually) white crowd.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/11/22 06:06 PM
6

I don’t think I’d call Akana a “much more famous figure.” Who’s the name more commonly heard through the news cycle? But yes, the double standard is annoying, to say the least.

I’m not sure if that’s how she phrased it, but sexism and racism are deeply entwined. MOC have to deal with the same things as white men, AND have it concurrently with white supremacy as well. Anyhow, yes, I’m a fan of hers and I think she’s come a long way.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/11/22 06:02 PM
2

Thing is, they keep getting shut down with the disingenuous “already working on your issues” claim.
/r/MensRights27/11/22 05:19 PM

A joke that didn’t hold up. I’ve followed her for years and she seems to have genuinely recanted. In recent years, Akana really seems to be learning more empathy for men.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/11/22 05:16 PM
8

Nah, she’s the real deal. Someone politically left-leaning (certainly progressive) who actually gives a shit about men and boys AS WELL AS women and girls and raises funds for Movember. As for selling nudes on the side, who cares? She’s an adult, let her make her own decisions, don’t be a swerf.

The same thing happened to Nimrod Reitman when he came forward. White Feminism(TM), you know? https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/13/nyregion/sexual-harassment-nyu-female-professor.html It’s like nobody even WANTS to listen to what Tarana Burke really has to say.

I’ve seen other intersectional feminists and transmen concur. “Men are Trash” is just the conservatives’ “boys will be boys” repackaged to the woke crowd.

Yeah, these are probably TERF-adjacent, at the very least. There ARE feminist groups who have solidarity with male survivors (Tarana Burke, for example), but these Karens are trash.

RBG's the reason widower's benefits exist and was vocally against the prison sentencing gap. She spoke out for due process where Title IX is concerned. As for the rest, I recommend you look them up, worth your time.

RBG (rest in power), James Landrith, Tarana Burke (spoke out against the white feminists who hijacked her movement to the exclusion of men), Ally Fogg, Masayoshi Toyoda, Liana Kerzner, Anna Akana.

Casual misandry and misogyny will be there with or without Musk. It's the possibility of anti-vaxxers, anti-maskers, Russian bots and the like being allowed back on that worries me. Except that they still hold proletariat men as oppressed rather than being bourgeoisie. Getting back to the actual point being made, “cultural Marxism” DOES NOT refer to what you’re talking about. It is a dog whistle for the so-called “Jewish Question” and always has been. There are those who may use it without knowing what it is thanks to the far right getting closer and closer to the mainstream, but that is something that will need to be corrected.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/02/22 04:00 PM

There’s already a better label, a Duluth Model mentality. The only people who’ve used “cultural Marxism” demonstrate so little knowledge that they need to need to read the sparknotes for the first time before their debate with Zizek, or try to call Hasanabi a hypocrite for having a nice house. As for what I’ve read so far on Marxist feminism, no they do not use patriarchy and capitalism interchangeably, but rather that the two are concurrent.

If you don’t care about the signifier or who’s using it, that’s how the right co-opts men’s voices, making subs like this necessary in the first place.

Here’s the thing: “cultural Marxism” is a patently far-right conspiracy theory/ label for anything reactionaries don’t like. The LGBT agenda? Cultural Marxism! BLM? Cultural Marxism! Critical Race Theory? You need to ask? Much as Godwin’s Law is so cliche, here’s a historical tidbit: “Cultural Marxism” is just a modern rephrasing of “Cultural Bolshevism,” a talking point of a certain group of German corporatists led by a wannabe Charlie Chaplin, as a sort of off-shoot from that whole “Protocols …

Germaine Greer is a revolting TERF and misandrist who thinks it’s ok to sexualise 12-year-old boys. As for #MeToo, it hasn’t gone too far, as for as the matter of male survivors is concerned, it doesn’t go far enough, despite the efforts of solidarity displayed by Tarana Burke.
