The side effects are a side show. The dropouts that get cited for these pieces happened in the second stage. More important is that fully 10℅ of the original participants dropped out in the first stage because the injections failed to lower their sperm counts to the required 1m/mL.

The logic behind the article is simple. The availability of an affordable, satisfying sex surrogate for men inevitably leads to the demand that a woman being more than her body to a relationship. Some women find this idea terrifying. Some of those same women have newspaper gigs.

When this test comes up in conversation, I find it useful to confirm the opinion that any movie that passes the test is automatically better than any movie that doesn't, then confirm that depictions of violent female death are unacceptable in progressive cinema, then bring up Verhoven's Starship Troopers.

The problem here is that the article uses the relative rate rather than the per capita rate. For example, consider 1000 men and 1000 women, observed over a lifetime. If 20 women and 80 men kill themselves from this group, then 20% of the suicides are female, and 80% are male. Then run the experiment again with a new population. Psychological science has advanced, and so this time, 19 women kill themselves, and 57 men kill themselves, then 25% of the suicides are female and 75% are male. Even tho…

This is magical thinking. Wanting something very badly, and convincing yourself that it is just and proper does not result in that position being written into 26 USC without the help of several hundred congress-critters in Washington DC. The IRS is an executive agency charged with carrying out the law as written. The person you talk to on the phone will know and will tell you that a particular offset was for a non-tax debt, but they have neither the means nor the obligation to be any more specif…

Seems fairly obvious. Consider the ridiculous barriers to entry that exist for prospective male teachers in the modern age. Only the most irreproachable, dedicated and generally superlative have a hope of getting and then keeping the position in the first place. So yes, the average rating of the very best among men could be reasonably expected to be higher than the average rating taken over a much larger pool of women taken from a wider range of achievement levels.

This will not help. The IRS does not make these decisions. They receive offset lists from other agencies for a number of purposes, student loans and child support being the most common. The IRS then processes the list, because that is what the law says to do. The exception is when your part of a joint refund is at risk due to a current spouse's debts.

I'm going to assume that this is a grade or high school and that everyone involved in a juvenile. I'm also going to assume it's an American public school, as there is no good way to generalize private institutions, which have a wide variety of disciplinary templates. The ugly reality is that the boy is already involved in the altercation, and thus is already likely to receive the maximum punishment allowed by local law and procedure. Given that, there is nothing to be lost by reacting. Unless th…

If you are coming at us from a modern feminist perspective, there are a number of basic definitions that are different in our usage. For starters, feminist != woman. While the MHRM is largely anti-feminist, anti-woman is not the same thing, though that is a common attack levied at MHRAs. Women are people. Modern Feminism, defined in this case as the policies and beliefs of the most powerful people who identify themselves publicly as feminists, on the other hand, is a toxic ideology that uses the…

Compare your perception of the proposal to what was actually said. In your mind, this hypothetical game has a Duke Nukem-esque protagonist who sprays an unending stream of lead into an unending stream of helpless women who have obviously done nothing to deserve it. Pure hatred of women. However, this reflexive perception is the very thing the article was about. Because you recoil at the idea of a large number of women dying, you necessarily limit the portrayals of women in this kind of media. Vi…

Everything about the event is screwed up, but the mens' rights issue arises in the coverage. If you read the text that goes with the video, the reporter focuses entirely on the trauma the girl suffers as a result of the arrest, and tries very hard to paint her in a sympathetic light. The quotes are from people trying to excuse her behavior. Nothing is heard from the parents of the victim, and no more mention of him is made than is strictly necessary to establish the poor little girl narrative. H…

The problem with your desire is that wanting to cut off his porn watching, which is to say, your desire to control him sexually, does make you a bad person. It's an abusive behavior, and really not acceptable. That said, men and women do have some significant differences in their brain structures, some due to genetics, and others due to socialization. Men, generally, are more easily stimulated visually, and experience sex on a very physical level. When he watches porn, he doesn't want a relation…

I think we may be able to have a productive discussion. Point one: I've had oogy feelings about this as well. I don't like when people who identify as feminists shut down male perspectives that agree with them based on gender. The way I understand it is, well, you don't have the experience of being a woman in this society so you can't speak to sexism in the way that I can. Which I kind of agree with. But I don't think we should cut off allies at the knees because of gender. Kind of like that Mac…

There are three major issues: First, there have been plenty of articles that explain, in no uncertain terms, that the place of a man in the feminist movement is to be silent, provide support/resources, and accept being reeducated. I have never seen an article by a feminist that attacks this POV, or even mildly disagrees with it. If there is no room for men to be heard, then there is no room for men's issues. Second, you will find that many of the subscribers to this sub have personal experience …

On its face, your statement is true; however, it is also a perfect illustration of the inherent failings in your setup. You are not entitled to be debated solely on your own terms. You do not have a right to rhetorical safety. Your political axioms are not sacrosanct., and the fact that you clearly want these things to be otherwise is wholly irrelevant. If you are actually interested in debate, then debate. Your Potemkin subreddit is pointless.

Feminist moderation makes this an inherent non-starter. You can't have a debate when one side is protected and the other grudgingly tolerated. Many of the participants in this sub have personal experience of self-identified feminists acting in bad faith, so do not expect to be tested as a good faith actor. The supposed benefit on offer is of no value, as debate with an unapologetic feminist may be had simply by existing within earshot of one.

The Finnish organization is not to blame here. The problem is the IeSF World championship which is run by a South Korean organization. This Finnish tournament is a qualifier for the World Championship. The WC has a male division and a female division. The only game shared between the two is Starcraft 2. Since only men can play in the Hearthstone segment of the WC, there's no point in risking a female winner of the qualifier. Similarly, I would expect a Tekken Tag Tournament 2 qualifier to be fem…

Setting appropriate precedents will be key here. The provision allows segregation if there is a 'comparable' program for those not served by the main program. Feminism, especially in its more radical flavors, is inherently seductive. The 'strength' you see in it is a desire for agency, which is a fine thing. Agency has a price, though, and the movement has become twisted over the years by its unwillingness to recognize and pay that price. The price of agency is safety, and this is just as true at the individual level as it is on the societal level. You can make dissidence vanish and create a facade of perfect order, but it takes a police state to make…

The financial aid landscape needs to become more gender-neutral, and policies that specifically disadvantage male students at the primary, middle, and high school levels need to be abolished. Female students are currently outperforming male students at every level of the educational system, but this has more to do with a reduction in male performance than an increase in female performance.. Christina Hoff' Summer's The War Against Boys covers this in more detail and it is worth a read.

To this kind of person, the idea of the oppression of women is axiomatic, and often unexamined. If you want to change a mind, you need to attack the foundation of the toxic worldview rather than complaining about the draperies. Start with education statistics and demand proof of this systemic oppression. If you can shift that even a little, everything built on it comes tumbling down.

Close. In saying "Protecting the rights of men" you assume that men as a group have all appropriate rights and are in danger of losing some. This is not true. To take the obvious examples, men as a group have essentially zero reproductive rights, but have a whole passel of responsibilities. The classic example is one of several cases in which a boy who was legally raped (unable to consent due to being underage) is later required to pay child support to the rapist. In a similar vein, make victims…

Not exactly. The common generalization that comes from the feminist can is "all men". This amounts to a moral/value judgment derived from a genetic characteristic, and is repugnant in any context. The common generalization that comes from the MHRM side of things is " all feminists ". The set of people who identify as feminist is genetically diverse, and therefore it is reasonable to state that being a feminist is a behavior. It is an act of self-identification, and is demonstrably subject to cha…

Born that way" matters. The reason it matters is this: It is unacceptable to make value judgments based on immutable characteristics, while it is acceptable and appropriate to make value judgments based on behavior. To take an example, it would be out of line to deny a job or housing to the one-eyed one-horned flying people people eater based on its being horned, pigeon-toed, or short. On the other hand, it would be entirely appropriate to make those same decisions based on its idemonstrated pro…

A person can be smart. People, as a whole, are dumb. A sentiment like this one is often used to illustrate that macro observations cannot be usefully applied to the micro case. This is plainly obvious to anyone who has had to deal with the differences between Newtonian and Quantum Mechanics. For all intents and purposes, they are right. George Orwell was spot on when he discussed how control of language equates to control of thought. The only solution I'm aware of is exactitude. If talking about racism results in a detailing discussion about what counts as'real' racism, then instead talk about how it is unacceptable to make moral judgments based on generic characteristics. This has the side effect of neatly covering ethnicity sex, and sexual preference, and puts your interlocutor in…

A rhetorical tool, like any other tool, is defined by its use. The statistics you mention are valid, but the salient point is this: While the MHRM may blame the concerted actions of people who identify as feminists for the lack of attention these problems receive, the MHRM does not, as far as I am aware, blame women as a whole for the problems themselves. The concept as it is used is bankrupt. This kid, like any other individual, bears no responsibility to or for the actions of others beyond his control. The phrase "check your privilege", as it is used in the current discourse, amounts to a moral/value judgment rendered based on the target's ecotype. You're looking at the wrong question. Misogyny is a feminist term, the feminist gestalt controls its definition, and so long as influential feminists remain opposed to MHR, it will always be used to label and attack some or all of the movement's behavior. MHRAs have, for this reason, no responsibility toward the label at all. To pretend otherwise is to seek feminist approval, and that is suicide.

The idea of "teaching not to rape" isn't intended to counter any specific ideas about rape prevention. It's interesting, and worth studying. Given that the places where microfinance is deployed often have subsistence economies, I would expect more 'traditional' gender roles to exist, and in that context, the conclusions make sense. I would contest the assertion that underage sex and underage porn are expressions of a normal sexuality. They can be a men's rights issue, but the issue is that, regardless of the ages of the people involved(ie which is the older), any financial or criminal consequences accrue to the male. This smells like coat-tailing to me, and there is no need for the MRM to tolerate it.

The first thing is to stop identifying yourself as a feminist. TERFs are a Very real problem, and spew an unbelievable amount of hate at MtFs. Also, MtFs are women, and that needs to color the way you approach mens' issues with them. FtMs can be safely dealt with as men, because that is what they are. TERFs are a problem for FtMs, but in a different way.

It might be bette rto say she assumes that her approval equates with rectitude, but that invites similar head-scratching. This last point is aimed at an element of the feudal social contract, specifically the idea that male endeavor takes its value from the utility it provides to women. Essentially "It does nothing for me and is therefore wrong" It's not her gender, it's her plain lack of empathy for anything with a penis that means she has nothing useful to say about what is a "real" mens' move…

I see what you are saying, but I'm not attempting to rebut the base observation that spawned the theory. The unfortunate reality is that the theory, much like the label 'feminist', is rarely if ever used in its "defined" sense. It's possible that my industry bias is showing, but the facts and circumstances have to rule the day. As it is actually used, intersectionality theory amounts to a victim scoreboard, and that isn't a valid way to construct a society.

The fact that their sidebar explicitly lists TERF as a term that will get you banned gives the entire game away. Truly, this sort of nonsense makes me feel bad for the MtFs out there. They do not deserve to be hated for being who they are.

A little point-by-point: I have NEVER seen Men’s Rights Activists campaign for the inclusion of trans* men in their spaces. Here we have "begging the question" The statement contains the assumption that trans men are somehow not men, and would thus need some special writ of inclusion. I think a few things: First, as you can see, the nature of the chart is very likely to be misinterpreted. It looks, at first glance, like an earnings chart rather than a jobs chart. Except that anti-feminism isn't the point. For one thing, the label is too broad and too fractious to be a useful point of opposition. For another, men have real problems that are older than feminism. Brands of feminism exist that exacerbate these problems and others exist that create whole new problems on their own, and so solving men's problems often means butting heads with the Dworkins and the Dalys, but the conflict is an obstacle on the way to the goal, not the goal itself.

NAFALT is a rhetorical trick, but this isn't the way to deal with it. Feminism is a broad and fractious label, so be more specific. There is wiggle room in "Feminists hate men" In some cases it's true, in some cases it's not. It's like surrounding a house and declaring that its occupants are all in the bathroom. A far better statement is "Dworkin and Daly adherents hate men." This type of statement is much more difficult to attempt to refute. A NAFALT is ineffective here, since you aren't saying…

The most powerful argument against this kind of thing seems to be to turn the concept of 'rape culture' against its creators. There are girls who quite vocally declare that it constitutes oppression or assault, so the existence of a girl who would call it consent is not a great stretch.

Sinfest / Tatsuya Ishida went very seriously anti-male a few months ago. That particular strip is relatively tame relative to the new paradigm. I would suggest not investigating further, or at the very least turning AdBlock on before doing so.

It's an MR issue because it's a reproductive rights issue. The thread wonders how long a relationship has to go on before the girl is right in being upset. This assumes that at some point, she automatically acquires exclusive rights to his gametes.

This is a bad article, and doesn't reflect well on its audience. It is light on specifics and heavy on histrionics. I'm not saying the article is wrong, in large part because the first few hundred words don't manage to say anything substantial at all. If you want to expose a liar, you don't do it by calling that person a liar over and over. You do it by staying the lie, refuting it, and only afterward ascribe motive. You especially don't use the term conspiracy in such an analysis before refutin…

You're 15. You have your own life to worry about. If her boyfriend, your friend, can't get her help, then you're not going to do any better. You should avoid her when you can only speak to her when you must, and never, under any circumstances, do anything for her. That is drama you don't need. Also, the word feminazi is a poor choice. Anything Nazi related invites dismissal as flippant, and in any case, the term was coined by Rush Limbaugh in an attempt to shame people who are pro-choice on the …

Holders of memes like the transactional relationship paradigm that underlies the image should be encouraged to express themselves in as public a fashion as possible. In this way, more rational people can avoid or exit painful, unfulfilling relationships with these people with a minimum of effort. Also, if you are in a relationship with someone who deliberately undervalues you, leave. Just sayin'.

In a case like this, there is no reason why the transfer of children should not occur directly after the ruling. This becomes a men's rights issue when you consider that a deputy would be along to retrieve the children directly if the change of custody had been male -> female.

This is just asking for trouble. HR is your vector. The phrase you need is "hostile work environment"

Does a banker or an engineer stop being those things after work? People are often defined socially by their profession. He has chosen a loaded word for it, though.

The grouping isn't the root of the perception. It's the vocabulary. It seems to me that his central thesis is the idea that the current default relationship model, in which the pursuing man provides goods and services to the desired woman in exchange for the possibility of sex, is inherently transactional and morally equivalent to prostitution. In this light, his statements about 'prostitutes and their customers' makes much more sense. It's a lot like the MGTOW thesis, which rejects the model on…

Run everything you can through the court system. The fact that there is a child support order in the first place tells me that this relationship has turned sour before. That arrearage is a huge club that can be used against you if it goes sour again. While you live together and things are working out, then paying nearly everything to her via the court won't cause either of you any hardship.

You are abstracting the things I've written. There is nothing overtly harmful about a good vegetarian diet, bit good vegetarian diets are not the issue here. They exist, and people do just fine on them. This mother, though, seems likely to provide a bad vegetarian diet, and that is much worse than a bad omnivore diet. Obesity can be cured, diabetes can be treated. Undeveloped bones and brains, though, are irreversible and unconscionable.

The paper is quite clear that it is possible for a vegetarian diet to not be harmful, but the paper also notes that this requires care, attention to detail, and careful monitoring. The behavior of the mother in this particular case does not persuade me that she exhibits those characteristics, and that is the primary source of my objection. Putting a child's mind at risk for political or religious reasons is frankly inexcusable. TL;DR: The fact that there is a right way to do a dangerous thing do…

This is a child, though, and one whose mother has shown that she is not thoughtful in her decisions. Allowing someone like her to force a child to assume a vegetarian diet is a bad idea

That has nothing to do with the repugnance of the article or the offensiveness of your ham-fisted attempt to justify it. Since you no doubt sincerely intended to improve lives by suggesting your text, I will suggest Aristotle's Rhetoric in return. True, his ideas on physics were somewhat naive, but he did know how to make an argument. We're done here.

I believe that trying to change the definition of a word (FTFA: The dictionary is wrong, get over it) for political reasons is just about as Orwellian as you can get. The author is crazy but dangerous.

Your point was quite clear. Feminist authors have begun to recognize that the denigration of fatherhood has reached the point where it interferes with the woman's quest to have it all. The tone is one of chagrin and permission, only sanctioning fatherhood within the context of its direct benefit to women. This is repugnant and if you don't understand why, then you need to examine the history of your own movement. Your attempt to justify your own condescending writ by claiming that I must not hav…

You misunderstand the nature of the offense. There are a number of extraordinarily repugnant ideas present here. "Men must help" is inherently offensive in that it asserts that women, in general, are owed some kind of support by men. Your clarification is no better, as it implicitly denies a man's right to have a life independent of a woman. Your reference to the book as essential is also offensive, in that you assume first that men have an obligation to enter into dialogue with the feminist mov…

First, consult your lawyer. Second, pay attention to your lawyer. All we can tell you is that the system will be biased against you, and that you will need a mountain of proof to overcome that bias. If you intend to fight, you will have to fight without compunction or mercy. If you try to be civil and respectful, sparing anyone's feelings, you are putting yourself at a disadvantage, and your story indicates pretty clearly that that disadvantage will be exploited. Record and document everything, …

I'd be in favor of more math earlier for everyone, along with logic and Euclidian geometry. This are things that pose problems which have answers, unyielding truths that can't be shouted at or shamed out of existence. The experience would do much good for members of both sexes.

Actually, the state does not matter. The procedure that an IRS employee follows when talking to someone on the phone is very specific in its treatment of call recording. The assistor will terminate the call every time. If the call is a toll-free call, though, the IRS is recording it already, for later use in doing evaluations.
