I ask my husband to take the trash can to the curb. I take out all the trash but I need him to take the trash can to the curb because it has to be lifted over a stair from behind a bush & I often can’t lift it. If I ask him to do it I want him to do it that night, because the trash truck comes early in the morning. So sometime before he goes to bed.

Unfortunately for a lot of people both genders, they get used to having something done & don’t realize how much work it can be to do it. I personally think that’s the whole reason couples argue about this sort of thing so much. One person in the couple thinks, “laundry isn’t a big deal, try doing the mowing!” But the person doing the laundry could be thinking, sure but I have to do it way more often than you do & it takes longer! I think we should just be appreciative of the things your partner …

You said “just don’t do it” nothing to do with if it’s done “perfectly” or not. If I have something I think should be done a certain way, I do it myself. I don’t expect my husband to do things the way I do them. So I’m either going to accept how he does it, or do it myself. If it’s that important to me, I do it myself. I do pretty much all the housework, & tbh I couldn’t care less if my house was messy. But my husband cares, because a messy house makes him anxious, so I do it for him. I would sa…

But would YOU want to live in a house like that? What would you do if your laundry didn’t get done & you don’t have anything to wear to work? Or food to eat because no one went food shopping or made the dinner? When you have kids, are you going to be the one making sure they have the right size clothes, that you know what dates things are happening at school, & all that? If no one does it, it’s not just “chill & stop doing it then!” Cause it affects the whole family.

I disagree. Living together shows how you both handle chores & being around each other all the time. I think it’s a must before marriage

I’m married, & I would say I make my husband’s life much easier. I cook for him, clean the house, do the laundry, do a good portion of the childcare- but he is very involved in our daughters lives so I’m not saying I do MORE but I do take care of most of the “invisible labor” with our girls (buying clothes, making sure they still fit, buying diapers for the baby, buying formula for the baby when she was taking bottles, knowing what milestones she should be hitting, & then for our school aged dau…

For sure, though I do think you can’t quite know what it’s like until you’re there. I had no idea how touched out I was going to be- touch has always been my love language so it was really wild to me to feel the way I did. But I do think all of those things should of course be discussed prior to having kids.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/26 12:56 AM

I was coming to say this same thing, that sex life can change so much especially after kids. So while you might have gotten married thinking your libidos match, hormones from pregnancy or postpartum can change so much.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/26 12:32 AM

Could be, but even so I’d say some people are different when they live alone when it comes to chores. Or they might clean up to impress you if you’re coming over especially if they think they might get laid.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/06/26 08:03 PM

For me, I don’t mind if a man doesn’t cook, because cooking is something I enjoy. I would be wondering more if he helps split the cleaning chores? Which is a weird question to ask when you’re on a date
/r/PurplePillDebate26/06/26 07:58 PM

I can’t imagine asking that during dating or getting a genuine answer. Who would tell you, “oh yeah no I’m not gonna split chores with you” if they wanted to date you? That’s why I think you should live together before you get married. Not everything will stay the same but you’ll get a good feel for how they handle things around the house.

Exactly! & it’s not fair to the kids if they had parents who fully didn’t want to be parents… that’s how you seriously fuck up your kids!

I’m a mom of two, & I absolutely love being a mother- it’s what I always wanted to do in life & though it’s hard I wouldn’t trade it for the world. That said, I totally understand why another woman wouldn’t want to. Pregnancy is very hard on your body - & I had easy pregnancies!! Childbirth is VERY hard on your body (I had two babies over 9 lbs each … 🫠 my delivery of my 2nd is a huge reason why I think I’m all done now haha), & postpartum is eve more trying. Not to mention, with the way the eco…

Because there are in fact many creeps. I would say almost every woman has come in contact with many creeps in her lifetime

That is a wild take & not true

Imagine that many women do do that.

Unfortunately not every couple is splitting chores in 2026 when both are working.

That’s funny. Growing up I was rejected by every guy I ever pursued until I was in college. None the guys I ever pursued would even be remotely considered a “Chad” except for the very first one in 6th grade, who then played a months long prank on me culminating in asking me to the Valentine’s Day dance in front of the whole school & then saying he’d never date the ugly girl. Plenty of “normie” guys rejected me over the years.

Women on that thread even said they got ghosted in DMs like that after sharing their pics
/r/PurplePillDebate16/06/26 03:03 PM

I’m 5’9 & I’ve dated some guys who were my height or only an inch or so taller (I’d have been open to shorter just none of them approached me or reciprocated feelings) & the told me not to wear heels lol like ? So YOU’RE the one who cares if you’re shorter, not me!

No one I have ever dated or pursued was in the “top 5%” or any of my friends either so I don’t even understand this POV.

It’s hard because for me, I approached every guy I was ever interested in & I had quite a few tell me that it’s a turn off to do so & that I should let the guy do the initiating. So even though I agree that more women should approach if they’re interested, it seems like that sentiment isn’t even shared by a lot of men
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 11:58 PM

Okay but even with academic backing that some women feel that way doesn’t mean all women feel that way lol
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 09:47 PM

Ok, but not every woman feels that way. It’s like when men say, well why do women choose these guys who treat them like shit? Same question here, why choose a woman who has no empathy for you? There are plenty of guys out there who aren’t assholes, there are plenty of women who have empathy.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 09:26 PM

I’m Gen-Y lol
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 06:52 PM

I don’t think it’s that women don’t want their husbands to relax, it’s that if we’re doing ALL the housework & you look over & see your husband just sitting there, it’s frustrating. It’s 2026, most women are working too. So why is it that a woman has to work a full week & then come home & take care of the house too? If I saw my husband cleaning while I was sitting around I would get up & ask what I could do to help so it would get done faster. That’s the difference. As far as the baby stage, it …

Every single time, wow. I’d say you’re probably dating the wrong women then. I have never in my life told a man that I wasn’t their therapist & not to tell me about their past relationship struggles. My now husband was engaged before me & it ended because she cheated. I spent years helping him heal & showing him I was different from her & wouldn’t do that to him. There are tons of empathetic women out there.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 05:28 PM

Do you think that men don’t do this? I am not a 10 & I struggled to find relationships when I was younger- I’m married now. Besides the very first guy I liked (in 6th grade) I have never tried for “upper tier” guys because I know I’m not in their league. I’ve told every single guy I’ve liked that I’ve liked them & I was rejected until I was college age. Even when I got my first bf he didn’t want to put it on social media because he said even though he thought I was beautiful he didn’t think his …

For those of us who aren’t 10s, we had to lean more on our personalities!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
