Wonderfully written, a lot of important lessons here. Keep your head up - the challenge you’re describing is core to the human experience, and it’s not easily solved. You’re doing the right work by holding a microscopic to it and letting it sit there for an uncomfortable amount of time. When I lived in West Village, NYC - I had these exact same experiences that made me deeply question who I wanted to be. I think that’s growth, oftentimes painfully achieved.

I wrote down “you’re not everyone’s cup of tea - and that’s ok!” the other day. You may have not actually connected as well as you think. And that’s ok - it’s easy to be blinded in the first couple dates. Onwards and upwards my friend.

It’s more in the style of conversation. It was super clear the differences in our ability to focus on a conversation lol. It’s like her attention span was a fourth of mine - kept jumping all over the place. It’s fun for a night, but it didn’t match with the way I like to engage in conversation.

Have you tried just texting them and asking to set up a coffee or dinner date? I find the more time I spend trying to banter over text, the greater the falloff. I’ve now cut out all texting unless it’s to set up a date - works well for getting to a date. The trade off is you can’t really qualify them beforehand, so you end up going on dates with people you might not actually like lol

It’s not about what’s ethical, it’s about where there’s a falloff in compatibility. I’m experiencing the same thing (28m). I find my sweet spot to be 22-25 rn. Any younger and it’s like they’re speaking a foreign language. Slept with a 21 year old a few months ago and while she was highly intelligent and super attractive, there was just some clear disconnect between us that made me not want to see her again. Anecdotal, but I think it was the age thing. I imagine that the age gap doesn’t feel as …

Brother - it took me like 10 years, from a teenager on, to get really good at game. You’re a month in, take a breath, have a group chat that you can text all the times you blew it in, and know that you’re going to blow it 90% of the time at the start. Takes a lot of time to be great at anything.

Yeah I think this framing makes a lot of sense. I originally was going to say that if you’re optimizing for # of lays, and not “good dates” or “good connections” - tightening up your time spent is going to be key. I especially like the intentionality this conveys. I’ve ended first dates with girls knowing we weren’t going to sleep together (I prefer never to wrap the little guy and would rather do some vetting prior nowadays) and said “I can’t stay up late tonight, but just know I want you to co…

What a piece 👏👏👏 super impressed with this write up. I disagree with the 1 hour date limit though. I do think a 2-3 hour date limit might make sense. Also depends on how good of a conversationalist you are, and how much they have to offer to a conversation.

I like this piece, and I agree with most of it. But a few notes I want to add. First to preface with a very douchey, very eye-rolley comment (but I feel like it’s important to include, could be wrong tho and it could just be self-aggrandizing, my bad): I feel like I’m one of the guys you mentioned (largely because of genetics, but also because of 10+ years of concerted effort into seduction). 6’ 2”, bright green eyes, go to the gym 5 days a week for 10 years, have been told I’m handsome since I …
