| 1 | Study intended to show anti-woman hiring bias in tech finds exact oppositeThe question is nonsensical. Your example doesn't assign cause to the number of each color car so there isn't any theory to test. The data supports nothing except itself. | /r/MensRights | 02/07/16 07:41 PM |
| 1 | Study intended to show anti-woman hiring bias in tech finds exact oppositeThat is a survey, not an experiment, it doesn't have an Independent Variable. The original article was an experiment, the IV was manipulating female voices. In the gravity example, the IV is letting go of the object. | /r/MensRights | 02/07/16 06:56 PM |
| 2 | Study intended to show anti-woman hiring bias in tech finds exact oppositegiven that they collected at this data where the collection had no bias couldn't it be examined to look for multiple different conclusions? The only conclusion an experiment can draw is to 'reject' or 'not reject' the null hypothesis. In this case, the null hypothesis is that a bias in favor of men does not exist. The hypothesis was that men benefit from a bias in the hiring process. Creating a seperate hypothesis after you failed to reject the null hypothesis is a post-hoc analysis which is bar… | /r/MensRights | 02/07/16 06:17 PM |
| 5 | Study intended to show anti-woman hiring bias in tech finds exact oppositeInteresting study, but I can see a confound in accounting for seperate varieties of speech used by men and women. This might be evidence of a pro-female hiring bias, or this could be evidence that voice modulation has a negative impact on job interview performance. After all, there's much more to male and female speech differences than the octave of their voice. Another suggestion, they might have had a seperate group that shifted the male voices to sound feminine. I'd also like to point out tha… | /r/MensRights | 02/07/16 04:10 PM |
| 5 | 15yo boy forced to pay child support after being raped by 34yo teacher [x-post /r/wtf]Nathaniel J. adds that the child will not suffer because she will receive welfare support. Am I the only one who actually read the court's opinion? | /r/MensRights | 19/06/16 02:13 PM |
| -1 | 15yo boy forced to pay child support after being raped by 34yo teacher [x-post /r/wtf]I am sure the court would side with him over the mother if he had sued for custody instead. | /r/MensRights | 19/06/16 01:58 PM |
| -2 | 15yo boy forced to pay child support after being raped by 34yo teacher [x-post /r/wtf]You're saying the judicial system should have imposed a new tax and public policy? That's absurd. As distasteful as it is, the ruling was consistent with precedents that were cited. | /r/MensRights | 19/06/16 01:48 PM |
| -32 | 15yo boy forced to pay child support after being raped by 34yo teacher [x-post /r/wtf]If it's one or two kids child support is usually just a cop out for the woman having to work and provide for her own. Wow that's some potent Coolaid right there. But what was I expecting, this is /r/mensrights | /r/MensRights | 19/06/16 07:38 AM |
| -19 | 15yo boy forced to pay child support after being raped by 34yo teacher [x-post /r/wtf]One of the main arguments that sex with a minor constitutes a form of rape is that they can't understand the consequences of having sex. To acknowledge that by maintaining statutory rape laws while simultaneously imposing the consequences of sex onto a minor is fucking absurd. But a 15 year old who has sex with another 15 year old is still responsible for thier child, despite both's inability to consent. The world is not black and white, and this is a definate grey area. | /r/MensRights | 19/06/16 07:25 AM |
| -54 | 15yo boy forced to pay child support after being raped by 34yo teacher [x-post /r/wtf]You are LITERALLY defending a rapist I know in your mind the child and the rapist are the same thing, but they aren't. | /r/MensRights | 19/06/16 07:17 AM |
| -80 | 15yo boy forced to pay child support after being raped by 34yo teacher [x-post /r/wtf]If 2 minors have sex, they are not mature enough to consent. However, they still bear responsibility to support the child. | /r/MensRights | 19/06/16 07:11 AM |
| -103 | 15yo boy forced to pay child support after being raped by 34yo teacher [x-post /r/wtf]I could ask you the same question, why should the rights of the former tump the latter? In fact, the court held that the 15 year old did do something wrong. [T]here is an important distinction between a party who is injured through no fault of his or her own and an injured party who willingly participated in the offense about which a complaint is made | /r/MensRights | 19/06/16 07:01 AM |
| -122 | 15yo boy forced to pay child support after being raped by 34yo teacher [x-post /r/wtf]But the compensation is for the child? The law states that the child has the right to support from both parents. Everyone is up in arms about the kid who was raped, no one seems to have any concern for the welfare of the child who has done nothing wrong. California law provides that every child has a right to support from both parents. (Fam. Code, ?? 3900, 3901 [former Civ. Code, ?? 196, 196a, 242]; County of Shasta v. Caruthers (1995) 31 Cal.App.4th 1838, 1841 [38 Cal.Rptr.2d 18].) Family Code … | /r/MensRights | 19/06/16 06:44 AM |
