For the majority of Redditors, and indeed the English-speaking internet, we don't live in a patriarchy. And you're complaining about a "patriarchal mindset" - what do you want to do, criminalise thoughtcrime? Legal equality is realistic, forcing people to change their minds is not. You can't use "this isn't a crime somewhere" (where in this case 'somewhere' is non-Texas US states) as a justification for making something not a crime in somewhere else (where in this case 'somewhere else' is Texas). In fairness, the ruling wasn't overturned on the grounds of being wrong, but because the previous ruling on the matter was made by the supreme court, so only the supreme court has the authority to overturn it. It appears it's being escalated to the supreme court for exactly that reason. The SC's previous reason for allowing men only to be forced to enlist was that women served in different roles, which is no longer true.

Tragic. The daughter's probably developed issues for life and the dad probably feels he's wasted a decade of his. Apart from what the other comment mentioned: there is a time and place for throwing shade at dead people. When someone's been dead for such a short time, the shade can usually wait until funerals and the like have happened. Give the friends and family - and fans, in this case - a bit of time to come to terms with their death, before putting a spotlight on their failings. Hitler has been dead for almost 75 years. Any respects that were going to be paid to him have been paid a long time ago.

The distinction between pedophile and child abuser is important. You can be sexually attracted to children without having sexually assaulted one. (You also don't have to be sexually attracted to children to sexually assault one, but I'm not sure why else you'd do that.)

Isn't the latter just another form of the former? If someone's saying "You're too old to be doing Y" (whatever Y is, playing video games, wearing certain clothes, whatever), they're telling you how to live your life, indirectly - "Beyond age X, you can't do Y".

I just looked at that subreddit, then at its rules. Okay, nothing that seems to prevent a legitimate argument... If a moderator sees it, they're free to take action as they see fit. Moderators are not required to give you a reason and persistent rules lawyering in modmail may result in you being reported to reddit admins for harassment. Oh, it's a get-out-of-jail/ban-at-will clause. At least I know where to go if I ever want a free ban.

Freedom of speech or no, insulting your opponent greatly undermines your credibility. Generally, people will think it is more likely that you are trolling or immature as a result, rather than agreeing with your assessment. You don't have to apologise for calling it like you see it, but if you're trying to make a point, you may wish to refrain from such calling if you want to be taken seriously.
