I would let the system collapse. I am just boycotting marriage unless the traditional system (with traditional gender roles) is restored. It probably never will; just look at how modern movies and TV shows exclusively show masculinized women as cool as opposed to feminine, shy women from the past. For the past many years, I have been trying to map out how to live as a lifelong single, setting a routine for myself and keeping myself busy to prevent physical and cognitive decline in old age. Why work? A lot of men in the past only worked to attract women and support their family. That is the purpose men were born with - to lead a family. But today, women have financial autonomy and traditional gender roles are abolished. Men don't have an incentive anymore. Personally, I force myself to become materialistic as to give myself an incentive to work. But it's hard, if I am living alone, I am totally fine with meeting only basic necessities.
