I have been the bigger saver in my short 3 year marriage. I also came in with much more assets. I only insisted divorce because my wife asked for the separation. However, in my case it made more sense to rip the bandaid off. Staying married for 5 years+ would mean I now have to pay spousal support on top of child support. She would also be entitled to much more of my retirement. There was no way I was gonna agree to that so I filed the next day. Better to fail and fail fast than hold on to hope …

Damn OP this hits so close to home for me. I recently took recently filed for divorce from my wife of 3 years. We have been together for 10 years and have 2 children ages 8 and 1. I have had sex a bit more than you ovee the course of the last year or two but we aren't even talking monthly here. Going through a similar situation. I got a lawyer and filled last week. I honestly hate it and I feel like such a failure but I know internally I'm finally choosing me.
