Men’s groups are totally normal, at least where I live, and nobody’s pathologizing them. My friend goes to a men’s AA group. Another friend’s husband goes to a father’s group. My dad has “boys reunions” with his friends from middle school every year, where he and like 8 other dudes go camping for a week and they all have matching t shirts. A ton of my friends are on men’s only sports teams. I know a guy in a men’s bible study group. The “alpha bro retreat” is one specific extremely silly social …

If the economy will collapse unless the number of humans on earth increases indefinitely, that means it will collapse. This is unavoidable. The earth can't support infinite people; we're already overheating the planet, turning farmland into desert, causing a mass extinction event, running out of fresh water because there are so goddamn many of us. The more the population balances out gradually, because people who want 0 or 1 or 2 or 3 kids have access to birth control and are happier for it, the…

No. My stupid gerbil doesn't know anything about gender or duality or the fact that he exists, but he mated with a girl gerbil, and not with any of his brothers (and they're usually pretty down with incest), so I think you would call him heterosexual. Heterosexual people are the same: they see traits like soft skin, slim waist, thick booty and have the same biological response as my gerbil.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/26 10:19 PM

No. It's subconscious homophobia if a man who has had sex with men gives you a weird icky feeling--that icky feeling is the "phobia." It's conscious homophobia to believe that non-straight men are oversexed and overly promiscuous, insufficiently "manly," and have STIs. You can date as many straight men and as few bi men as you want, but I think it's true, on a broad scale, that the reason many straight women don't want to date bi men is because of the icky feeling and the stereotypes, not becaus…
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/26 10:04 PM

Tbh, again as a bisexual myself, I do not consider biphobia a very useful word most of the time. Straight people who have an aversion to bisexual men because they have sex with other men are having a phobic reaction to homosexuality, not…the fact that bi dudes also are attracted to women. Gay people who have funny paranoid ideas about people who engage in heterosexuality, have something different going on in my personal opinion
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/26 08:55 PM

I would call that homophobia and sexism
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/26 05:05 PM

Yeah fair 👍 I say “subconscious” as a bi person myself because some women (and men. really it’s the same regardless of gender) actively believe things like “gay people and straight people are basically the same and deserve to be treated equally” but they have an instinctive disgust response to gayness. It’s still homophobia, but at least in my life I’ve found it worth making the distinction between people who WANT to be homophobic and people who don’t want to be but are anyway. I would say a per…
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/26 01:53 PM

Please quote me saying that. Also, what are you arguing? That women are innately incapable of making good movies? Are you aware that action movies are a subgenre for which men are a primary audience—why choose the amount of money made by action films specifically as a measure of…artistic merit?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/26 06:10 PM

Okay well the reason the term ‘male gaze’ is more often used than ‘female gaze’ is because men make up the vast majority of directors, and many films that are not intended only for men are shot in a way that positions the (mixed-gender) audience as a man looking at women, rather than, say, a woman looking at men, despite the fact that men and women both watch a lot of movies. This was VERY true in the 70s, when the term was invented, and it is still pretty true today. So OP (and you) are saying …

Even if I take everything you say as gospel truth, none of it contradicts what I said. For example, ignoring the fact that the number of TV shows where every episode is directed by one person are vanishingly rare, and overlooking the fact that the position of showrunner is a pretty different job from that of director, and the fact that the TV industry is different and I was not talking about showrunners, could it not be true that 2/3 of women’s three favorite shows (which are what? Based on what…

I do and have—I dated a guy who was REALLY broke once and I paid for every one of his meals because I had more money. But I think in general, over time, things should about even out to 50/50, or at least a “from each according to his ability” situation. Plus if everyone just pays for their own meal they can order what they really want, even if that thing is expensive, without being rude.

What I meant by “men usually eat and drink more” is that men are generally larger and require more food to be full and more alcohol to feel an effect than women do to achieve the same level of fullness and effect, not that men choose to get drunker than women choose to get.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/26 01:38 AM

Counterpoint: men usually eat and drink more. I am 5’2 and don’t drink alcohol; when I eat out, I get an appetizer and a water. Usually my bill is about $15. Usually my dates bill is 30+. I hate hate HATE alternating because it means im paying more than my fair share. Everyone should just pay for their own food imo

“The male gaze” is a term from film theory, and it refers to the fact that, although filmgoers are about 50/50, only a tiny minority of film directors are female. When you watch a movie, the camera serves as your “eye,” and it focuses on what the director assumes you will find interesting. Because most directors are (straight) men, that often means that the camera lingers on things that straight men will find interesting (women’s legs and butts and breasts and sometimes feet), and not on the thi…

I think this is a very typical example of guys on this sub confusing “dominant and aggressive,” “physically attractive,” and “willing to take risks.” Magic Mike and “muscular guys dancing around naked” are physically attractive, but dancing around naked is not being aggressive or trying to “dominate” anyone. Your first study refers to women preferring “masculine faces and bodies,” not aggressive and domineering personalities—and certainly not dangerous ones—at different points in their cycle, so…

College admissioins favor men (https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/08/magazine/men-college-enrollment.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share) at least in the US. This despite colleges being legally prevented from doing the same for students from disadvantaged racial/ethnic/national backgrounds. Where's the data that shows female names get more jobs?

Nah they reached a 3 mil settlement with the first suit. And then hundreds more men came forward and sued. Lawsuits are expensive, even if you don’t lose—enough to make a company fold altogether or, in Bumbles case, acquiesce and become another Hinge.

Yeah young people are often kind of assholes with poor judgement and poor understanding of themselves and their sexuality. This is true of both men and women, because kindness, good judgement, an understanding of which social norms are arbitrary and dumb (like sex negativity) and which are actually important (like tipping) are skills people have to develop. I think it's a total myth that girls and women "mature faster"--people who think that often find themselves shocked by the fact that young w…

Idk if it's because of *my* advice, but most of them have hit on men themselves at least a few times. One got a negative response from a guy she liked, who said it made him feel "weird" for her to take the initiative re: hitting on him, going in for the kiss first after a date, going dutch etc, which unfortunately turned her off from doing that, despite my (earnestly believed) insistence that most guys aren't like that. One asked a guy out who is now her husband. So, you know

Pathologizing means treating something like an illness (a pathology). It's not pathological for a person who doesn't want a bf all that much to not try all that hard to get one. Lots of women just find modern dating so impossible and demoralizing that they determine the juice ain't worth the squeeze, make their peace, and do other things instead. Different people have different priorities and preferences, and they make different decisions based on those preferences--that doesn't mean they're psy…

Well I mean this whole “are women more generous than men” topic isn’t one I was arguing for—you brought that one up, which is cool, but it’s not my point—and I certainly don’t think women are born with more generosity than men. I brought up the fact that women as a population give more of themselves than men and are more involved with their communities and with those suffering from “real world problems” to challenge OP’s assertion that women “have been socially programmed to be selfish and narci…

Actually, most recipients of “passive income”—landowners, stockholders, people who make money by HAVING things instead of doing things—are men. Men receive way more of other people’s hard-earned wages than women do. I assume you’re referring to the fact that more women than men choose to be stay-at-home parents, but, if that’s so, you’ve just misunderstood the nature of marriage as an economic partnership. If you start a business with a guy who does the accounting, and you do the advertising, th…

Actually, when my female friends complain about how they don’t have bfs and ask for my advice, I also tell them that the way to get a bf is by asking dudes out. Generally the way you know if you should advise someone to change some aspect of their life is if it makes them unhappy and they express that to you and are looking for solutions. Not if I think that they are being too passive or whatever; I do think that, about a lot of women, and then I think ‘well, different strokes’ and mind my busin…

Women make up the vast majority of organ donors, and men the vast majority of recipients. Women also make up a majority of volunteer workers, even though, statistically, they have less free time than men. Women are also significantly less likely to beat, kill, or disable people they don’t like for perceived disobedience. How do you define self-centeredness and narcissism?

Yeah I mean even in the west most relationships do not begin with someone hitting on a total stranger. I live in the US and of all the couples I know or have ever met, only one began with asking out a stranger (via the apps.) I’m a feminist and I (mostly) agree! Certainly where I live (the US) we have a huge over-incarceration problem does not accurately represent the populations of people who commit crimes. For example, black Americans are often sentenced to far longer prison sentences for the same crimes. I think the most pressing moral issue in the US, period, is the institutionalization of rape-as-punishment in our prisons; of everything we do wrong in this country, that is what will most viscerally horrify our g…

We are all different! I’m sexually dominant, like a guy who’s chubby and hairy, am on birth control, think it’s hot when a dude comes fast, and my FWBs have generally been big cuddlers, so it is worth it for me to have casual sex with the guy I currently have casual sex with.

The issue isn’t with him asking. The issue would be with him thinking that sexual success is bad if it’s a woman doing it. I want an egalitarian relationship, so a guy who has different standards for men and women’s behavior is not going to work for me. I am also sex positive, I think sex is a fun, beautiful thing, and I want a partner who shares my values.

What are you defining as Misandry, here? It’s one thing to say that men are born inferior and should be subjugated; it’s another thing to say that the social class of men are in the social position of disproportionate and undue power over women, as a class. This is the difference between saying that white people are naturally lacking in empathy (which is racist) and saying that white people occupy a social position that gives them undue power over the lives of black people, who are systemically …

I'm so sorry that happened to you. You're right that there is enough variability in the size and strength of men, and especially between men and boys, that places where the rape of men and boys is institutionalized to varying degrees--American prisons, catholic boarding schools and orphanages, and more--seem to have the same rates of sexual assault as places where the rape of women is institutionalized. So, I take that part back. Thank you for making me reconsider.

I agree. What I mean that it seems like there is a whole category of sex crimes that *do* involve overpowering the victim, which would be very difficult or impossible for most women to victimize most men with, and I've never seen any data that indicates that women commit more rape by via threats, weaponry, drugging, or victimizing people too intoxicated or too young to consent than men do, so I was struggling to conceptualize how women could then make up a majority of rapists. I agree that male …

Literally the same kind that men find acceptable from other men, and that men find acceptable from women, and that women find acceptable from other women: little white ones, usually in service of politeness. For example, when I ask what he is doing, and he’s taking a giant shit, “just chilling”is a fine answer. If I ask HOW he’s doing, but he doesn’t want to talk about his feelings right now, “good” is a fine answer. This is because those are polite ways of saying “none of your business,” and he…

I don’t know how to say this without being insensitive, and I truly do not want to be, but physically how can it be possible that men are the majority of rape victims? I understand that rape is often not about sexual attraction and is instead about power, but the fact that most men are heterosexual and closer in size and strength to other men surely has an impact with male perpetrators. With regard to female perpetrators, I don’t understand how there could be more female perpetrators and male vi…

Lmao those ancient 35 year old crones writing on their clay tablets. Anyway I do think that some older people do give advice that’s similar to “just walk in there and ask for a job;” on the other hand, I, a zoomer, have gotten two jobs by just walking in there with a printed resume. Dating advice from older people is like that too: there are technologies that are designed to filter out a majority of people that did not exist when they were young, but there are ways of bypassing those technologie…

Fair enough. That’s kind of similar to what linguists do—there’s no way to prove the existence of proto-indo-European, for example, but studies like the ones you describe are still of academic and intellectual value because they show that it is extremely likely that, for example, German and Sanskrit have the same origin. I don’t consider it anti-intellectualism. I worked in academic publishing for years, and a key principle of academic and scientific rigor, what differentiates it from something Joe Schmo writes for the Huffington Post, is a refusal to jump to conclusions and a willingness to acknowledge every area that lacks proof. For example, the first article you linked does not presume to offer a cause for the greater variability in male intelligence scores. This is not because the scientists who wrote it ar…

The thing about evolutionary psychology is that it cannot, by its very nature, be proven or prove anything else. Just because it would make sense for women to be more “hypergamous” doesn’t prove anything, because evolution doesn’t work like that. A huge number of our traits are the result of random genetic drift, and even more are the result of being genetically tied to a different advantageous trait. Plus, it is extremely difficult to prove the origin of any psychological phenomenon, because th…

Sure. Women know that if they do not have a partner, they will experience loneliness. Many choose loneliness anyway, because they find it preferable to what would be in store for them with the men they can attract. It’s not about “goodness.” As you say, the dating market is what it is.

Never. I also don’t think it is fair or appropriate to say “you should have gotten an alarm system” to someone whose house was broken into, or “you should have stayed in at night” to someone who was mugged. If person A does something bad to person B, it’s kind of insane troll logic to blame person B for letting them. No. Most women experience sexual attraction to the men they see around; some experience sexual attraction to the women they see around; a very small percent are asexual. Why do you think women date and have sex, if not to date and have sex? We don't need to fuck in exchange for resources anymore. Hell, why do you think women cheat on their partners as much as men do, if not because they are similarly driven to have sex with a man they see around, even when it is against everyone's interests?

Anyway, I think perhaps the reason men are having so many problems finding partners is BECAUSE they were “raised to be men,” that is, without social networks that can help them find a match; without the skills to make themselves appealing (grooming, style, etiquette, sensitivity); without a sense of gratitude for their independence; without friends they can hug and comfort and receive comfort from, so that they are not so desperate for one woman to do all tha…

Good. Girls aren’t having a loneliness epidemic; maybe the way they’re raised is better suited for an industrialized world. Like, you’d think men would have a leg up in terms of happiness, because testosterone is basically a recreational drug that makes a person more energetic, angry instead of sad, and put on muscle so easily; men are bigger, stronger, and don’t have to spend a quarter of their lives in pain. And yet! They are disproportionately unhappy. So I think something about how boys are …

What’s with this idea that all men went to war? Throughout most of human history, most people—men and women—were subsistance farmers, and the thing about farming is that if everybody leaves the seasons will still change and there will be famine. Most hunter-gatherers today do not exist in a constant state of war; most do not go to war at all. In fact, one might argue that men are ill-suited to killing, given that killing other people generally traumatizes them forever. Hunting, maybe. War, no.

It’s not a theory. It’s the fact that men are overwhelmingly in ‘ruling’ positions of power. This is easily verifiable. Why is it alienating?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/26 02:02 PM

It is sexist because it treats men and women differently in a way that restricts opportunities of women. I would indeed say exactly the same thing about a female CEO refusing to have work dinners with her male colleagues only, if such a thing were ever to occur.

I mean, I think you kind of have a point? Like, I don’t think it’s “hypergamy” for me to only date guys who are equal to me in terms of being “aligned, reserved, social, emotionally intelligent, well groomed, fashionable, and moral.” It’s just that the skills that make a person good at being in a relationship—stability, pro-sociality, being kind and nice, ability to make yourself look attractive—are generally better taught to little girls than little boys. And that’s a shame! If I have boys I wi…

The thing about finding a romantic connection is that a lot of it comes down to luck, and it generally makes people crazy to live for a single goal that they don't actually have control over.

I agree that dating apps have ruined everything for everyone. Let's stop using them. This will require going to bars. A lot of guys have trouble getting a first date at all on the apps. Some of those guys are confident, socially adept, have lots of wingmen they can bring to the bar, and are just short; they benefit from meeting women in a situation where they can showcase their strengths and where people are mostly sitting down.

Bear's fatal flaw is cowardice. This is established early in the movie, with innocuous things like him being too scared to tell Nikki how he feels, and then, as the story becomes higher-stakes, waffling around and taking the easy way out, until it's too late. This is because "Obsession" is a competently-constructed tragedy. Nikki herself is not particularly brave, either, but the movie isn't *about* her--she gets possessed almost immediately, and so her personality has no bearing on the actual p…

The wage gap refers to the true fact that men make more money. It's not a myth. Any specific *why* and *how* men make more money--for example, men being promoted to leadership positions by the other men already in those leadership positions; a lack of paternity leave that means it always has to be the female parent who stays home, regardless of the specific preferences of the couple; the idea that women are responsible for most cooking, cleaning and childcare no many hours they work--doesn't mak…

Agree! I think this is very fair. But, I mean, this mechanism of treating sex as a resource isn't neutral either--it resulted in women being treated as property and second-class citizens. So I wouldn't call it a very good reason in a moral sense, since it is both literally false and causes harm.

So is a marriage certificate! So is allimony!

True, but that's not ping-pong itself. Sex partners could be considered a "human resource," but sex itself is not. Also, in a world where ping-pong is very meaningful and has the power to create human life, it makes sense to be very sad that there are not people in your area who want to play ping-pong with you. Hell, even if you just really like ping-pong, it still makes sense. But that still doesn't mean that you can redistribute ping-pong.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/07/26 12:20 AM

No it's not? Gold, for example, exists in a specific, limited amount on our planet--does sex adopt that property because it can be monitized?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/07/26 12:14 AM

Edit for clarity and concision: No it's not! If a man is married to a woman who makes a lot of money, and he has an affair, and his wife would no longer be married to him or fund his lifestyle if she knew he was having an affair, it is still not illegal for him to lie about the affair. He's extracting resources under the *exact same* false pretenses.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/07/26 12:05 AM

This is pretty vague. Are you saying ping-pong and sex aren't analogous because sex has deeper personal and social meaning? The thing about an analogy is that the two things don't have to be identical in every regard; both ping-pong and sex are activities, not things, and my post is about sex being an activity, not a thing, and so it's appropriate to liken the activity-ness or ping-pong to the activity-ness of sex. How important sex is socially and culturally has no bearing on whether it is an a…

No punishment. The government where I live (USA) does not punish people for cheating or for lying, and I think that’s good, and I don’t think an exception should be made for women who cheat and lie about it. The punishment for paternity fraud, just like the punishment for having a secret second family as a man, and for all other forms of dishonesty and infidelity, is that if your spouse finds out they will divorce you.

This is silly, ofc, but it’s still powerful, especially if they have bfs they’re worried about offending. Because it’s sexist and false. Women are no more “naturally hypergamous” than men are; dating apps have created a situation where women have to judge guys based on looks, because they can’t talk to them, and most men have to be damn good looking for women to be attracted to a still picture of him and be willing to meet a stranger from the internet about it.

yeah, if you have expanded the definition of cheating to mean....basically anything. If "micro cheating" is something the majority of women do, your definition of cheating is too broad. This is ahistorical. In most places, throughout most of human history, there were huge numbers of unmarried and childless men—even more than there are today. Same as with men. Are they obsessive, jealous, and prone to fits of rage? Do they think you are inferior or should “know your place?” Do they try to isolate you from friends and family? My grandmother always told me “no man is better than a bad man”; the exact same is true of women. Yeah, sure. I think if a family/group/faith is going to celebrate a right of passage for girls, they should do the same for boys. This is true in Judaism, where boys have a bar mitzvah and girls have a bat mitzvah and both get a party and lots of affection. I'm not sure it needs to be tied to a specific biological process like menstruation, because there is no exact equivalent for boys, but also because growing up isn't just about being able to get pregnant or impregnate someone else. *That said…

People owe each other all sorts of things. Lots of women care deeply about the “bad outcomes” men face: draft, war, homelessness, mass incarceration, gang violence, drug overdose, father’s rights violations, etc. This is because we, as a species, tend to care when bad things happen to fellow humans. That doesn’t involve an obligation to pretend to like or love someone and have sex with them and get married to them or whatever. And who would even want that?

My man. I appreciate that you are being polite and courteous here but I don't how how else to tell you this: we feel it just like how you feel it. We feel the same things you feel. Relationship nostalgia and missing someone feels to us the same exact way it feels to you. When I hear a song that makes me think of my ex, i feel very sad. My sister keeps driving to New York to see an ex that she misses. Most of my friends have not had serious relationships that then led to breakups, but my friend w…

Of course we do. Women aren’t a different species—they have the same exact feelings and wants and intelligence as men, just with different sex organs and sex hormones. I felt (and still sometimes feel) incredible relationship nostalgia in my 5-year relationship and in my 3-year relationship. “Nobody knows me more than this person” is exactly how I felt when my boyfriend who I’d been dating since I was 16 broke up with me when I was 21. I was devastated. To be frank, I think it’s nuts that you wo…

No. To be completely honest here: I do like it when a man is funny, like actually witty, and if I perceive the jokes he’s making at his friends expense as just playful ribbing, then, yeah, if the jokes are funny that’s attractive to me. I think maybe it’s because I was raised in a family where people joke around and tease each other a lot, I tend to see it as no big deal IF it’s clear that the point of the joke is not to be cruel but to be funny. If I feel like the point of the joke is to “domin…

Here goes mine, and it’s kind of a hot one: Nobody enjoys shaving and waxing and plucking and scraping and painting their whole bodies. Women fulfill those kind of tedious and unpleasant gender roles because they are attracted to men, they like to kiss and date and fuck men, and it’s worth it to them to cede a little ground to make men like them. It’s kind of embarrassing to admit to doing things to make other people like and want to have sex with you, and nobody likes to feel like, as you guys …

Good sex requires unselfconsciousness, perceptiveness, adaptability, levity, a willingness to express what works and what doesn’t, and familiarity with the plumbing. Of the sex I’ve had, the best had been with people with lots of experience and the worst has been with people with very little experience, and I have never personally encountered an exception to this rule. Women as a whole are never going to have a united political…anything, because women are 50% of the population. I think it’s also worth noting that women have significantly less access to money, weapons, etc than men, and it is extremely rare for a population that has NEITHER numbers NOR weapons NOR resources on their side to attempt a full-on uprising. Plus regime changes etc don’t usually keep everything the same EXCEPT gender relations. But lots of women throughout history have been key actors…

I don’t. I’m bi, and I have the same standards for men and women. It’s just that more women tend to meet those standards. Men and women are socialized differently, and little girls are often held to higher standards of conscientiousness, sociability, stylishness, hygiene, and friendliness, so they develop those social skills better. It’s rare to go to a dinner party or social event, for example, and find a woman who does not talk or smile at all, but most of the parties I go to have at least one…

Specific "rules" and "hacks" sell really well, which is why you have so many podcasters and tiktok psychopaths and even a few published authors talking about "rules" and "tests" and "systems" for dating. These rules and systems work for people who are really bad at socializing naturally (and no shade on them! not everyone has to be good at everything!), but for most people, they're not very useful, and most people don't use them. Sex is taboo. You don't just bring it up to strangers, just like you don't say "hey, are constipated?" or "my dad just died. What's wrong with bringing up "is your dad alive or dead?" is that most of the time, most people don't want to talk about if their dads are dead, nor do they want to talk about their bowel movements, nor do they want to talk about how they don't want to have sex wit…

The word patriarchy describes a social system in which positions of authority are primarily held by men. In the US, for instance, men make up the majority of leaders and lawmakers, and those leaders and lawmakers have chosen to make child marriage legal and abortion illegal. This means that a woman or girl who has been raped will be arrested (also by men) if she tries to get an abortion, and when she is imprisoned, her prison guards will also be predominantly male. It means that the majority of …

I'm (genuinely, respectfully) confused by what you mean. Do you mean that women oppress men by perpetuating male dominance in law, government, business, policing, etc, and the fact that men are disproportionately in power leads to those men in power oppressing other men? How do they do that? Victimhood "tactics"? victimhood "mentality"? Some people literally are oppressed by other people. No you can't. But most women will not react negatively if you and your friends approach them in a bar with them and their friends, because being approached by a group of guys at a bar is normal, and they don't want to look weird in front of their friends. I mean, a woman from the apps is equally likely to say "EW! GET AWAY FROM ME!" so you might as well just go for it and play both fields, or whatever they say.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/26 12:04 AM
1

yes *those* women are not going for the purpose of getting approached by men. But other women are. Women regularly say online that they hate mayo, but that doesn't mean all women hate mayo. Also, most groups of women at bars and clubs are happy to be approached by a group of guys, because that's normal and expected at bars and clubs, and even if their primary goal wasn't to find a guy, if they're single, finding a guy they like is a stroke of luck. You just have to be that guy.

Non-alcoholic drinks can also be spiked. Most dates involve imbibing beverages of some sort. And at bars, you can bring other people; on the apps, you have to meet a stranger from the internet all alone.

I can’t speak to the male dating experience, but I can observe that the reason dating offline is so bad is because of the apps. The terms “misandry,”“reverse racism” and “heterophobia” are all real terms that people really use to describe real phenomena: some people actually are biased against white people or straight people etc. But it’s a little weird that those terms are structured to mimic the terms that black people/gay people/women came up with to describe their own oppression. Gay people aren’t oppressing straight people, black people aren’t oppressing white people, and women aren’t oppressing men. The draft, uneq…

Well but factually the vast majority of OF subscribers are case 2. Because, you know, you kind of get what you pay for with porn—free porn can be kind of cheesy and limited, and sites like pornhub make all their money through advertising and data collection which makes for a really annoying user experience. Plus it’s more ethical to pay porn actors directly—OF models are less dependent on a kind of fucked up industry cause, you know, they’re getting paid for their work right away. So if a person…

I mean, grocery store, no. But the bars (the RIGHT bars) are basically just like dating apps, where you size up strangers and see if they like you, except that there’s a more even number of men and women, which is an advantage for dudes, and it’s an opportunity to show off your charisma/humor/conversation for those whose numerical stats (height, weight, income) aren’t their strongest point. Like, of guys I know, they’ve had very little success on dating apps and a lot more success going to a bar…

Well OF model who is pretending to have romantic feelings for a client and want to date them etc is a different thing. I would classify that as a romance scammer who happens to be using OF. But that’s not most OF models. Most of the time nobody’s pretending anything, and they’re selling exactly what they say they’re selling (live footage of them doing sex stuff) without any deception at all. My mom spends an ungodly amount of money on antique porcelain dolls from like the 1880s. They’re creepy, and it’s weird. But are the people selling antique dolls swindling my mother out of her hard-earned money? Should they be punished? I don’t think so. There’s no deception involved; even if most people don’t understand it, she’s making an informed choice about what’s worth money to HER. Likewise, if an onlyfans model offers to take her top off for $200, and somebody pays her $200, and she does…

Yeah I think that’s stupid. Sometimes women give out fake /numbers/ to be safe, but ghosting isn’t safer than saying “hey sorry this isn’t working.” I don’t think ghosting is a gendered problem at all: men and women both do it about the same amount, at least to me (I’m bisexual). It’s just one of those shitty inconsiderate behaviors that are really easy to do, like not returning your grocery cart or throwing trash out the car window or whatever

This doesn’t need to be a hypothetical. Women as a group already prefer fit muscular men, which leads lots of men to work out. Nobody needs to know what kind of woman you DON’T want to fuck. I have preferences that I think reflect poorly on me: I don’t date single children or the sexually inexperienced or anyone who’s never smoked a cigarette, because those qualities represent a certain flinching nerdiness to me. And you know what? Until right now, no one on earth knew that about me, because I kept it to my damn self. Some thoughts are inside thoughts.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/05/26 11:52 PM

I think it’s true on both ends. The average American woman is 5’4 and 170 lbs. the average American man is 5’9 and 200lbs. Lots of guys who bemoan their lack of dating success aren’t willing to date women who are average-looking, even if they themselves are. And there are also lots of women who are very average but want a man taller/fitter than average. C’est la vie

No it isn’t. I am also using my male partner’s body for pleasure during sex. Hello?? Obviously if you think having a vagina and using it is inherently submissive, all straight kink is about women doing things that “prove her submission and enthusiasm to please the man.” But actually, in fact, the majority of women have sex because they find it pleasurable.

I agree, but I think the average man and the average woman are unhappy because of their divergent psychological patterns. Like, yes, men have more testosterone which is a horny chemical, but thinking of sex not only as a fun pleasurable activity to do with GF but also as an affirmation of their goodness and worth is going to make them want it way more. And thinking of sex as the price you have to pay for BF to clean the house is going to make women want it way less. I think that changing one’s p…

This is stupid, in the way things that are sexist are usually stupid. I like sex, he likes sex, so we have sex; I like a clean house, he likes a clean house, so we clean the house. What you’re proposing is that I use his desire to have sex to get him to clean the house, and his desire for validation to get him to have sex with me…why? We both want a clean house and sex.

🤷‍♀️pussies are different. Some people have shorter or narrower vaginas than others, so“pounding” hurts some people and doesn’t hurt others. People’s clitorises and g-spots are in slightly different places, which makes some sex acts more painful or more pleasurable to some people. I don’t think your gf is some kind of crazy outlier, but I would guess she is in a still very populous minority.

Okay. Sex is very important to a lot of people👍 How would you propose that we women “address the problem of male sexlessness,” as a societal problem, that does not involve women fucking guys who they do not want to fuck? Since otherwise we can’t expect men to…count our votes in elections? not…rape us? Like—and I mean this genuinely—what could we possibly do to help men whose main problem is that they aren’t having sex WITHOUT having sex with them?

Personally I wouldn’t care about that at all. Like, I don’t think it expires. That hypothetical guy hasn’t been revirginated, or whatever, in my book.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/05/26 09:24 PM

Mystery, independence, and “self-orientation” cannot survive a long term relationship by definition. Nobody’s mysterious or unpredictable to someone they’ve lived with for 30 years. People’s “missions” change when they have children—they have to. And eventually everyone gets old and ugly and loses their independence. A relationship based on mystery is doomed to fail—-if a woman likes you because of what she DOESNT know about you, she probably doesn’t like you that much.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/05/26 01:24 AM

It’s not framed as “just a preference” in this thread, and I don’t believe it is “just a preference”. Feeling disgust at the idea of a man having sex with men is homophobic. Feeling disgust at the idea of a woman having sex with men is sexist. I had no idea this was about straight men’s sexual double standards for straight women—I was mostly talking about how straight people of both genders feel about queer people of both genders—but there you are.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/05/26 07:01 PM
15

I agree. But it’s incorrect to frame it as a problem of women’s “gaslighting” and hypocrisy when the exact same thing is true of men. Lots of straight men support LGBT rights AND say they like masculine women and gay women are cool and hot and whatever, but they’re just as disinclined to actually DATE a woman with short hair/deep voice/body hair.

Right!! I am also a sexually dominant fairly masculine bisexual woman who dates femme and bisexual guys. Nobody’s saying that the majority of people are gender-nonconforming—that would be an oxymoron. Women aren’t being “real” either. The women you see being polite and appropriate and deferential and professional are censoring themselves in the same way you are. Wild. Anyway, 1) sexual intercourse SOMETIMES hurts women’s vaginas, but that doesn’t mean ALWAYS does. Some women experience pain during intercourse. Most experience pleasure. 2) this doesn’t mean that the vagina permanently changes size after a dick’s been in there. This isn’t a philosophical issue. There’s only one right answer. Look it up. 3) you can find out what sex acts your partner enjoys by asking.

No. Literally not at all. My objection to TRP is that it blames the current desolate dating landscape on women’s essential nature (hypergamy, women are only attracted to the top 20% of men) rather than dating apps, which seems illogical to me given that in general 90s and 2000s women’s rights were more or less where they are now, but the coupling crisis only started when apps came onto the scene. Actionable tips: don’t shut down the conversation by only saying things that your partner can’t make meaningful additions to. Substitute facts for opinions. If you propose a topic or make a contribution that’s a “dead end,” just make another one! Don’t sit in silence.

I think it’s mostly right, for these reasons specifically: Dating apps. The male loneliness epidemic seems to have started right about when dating apps became one of the primary modes of dating. Because, you know, dating apps are used by a larger number of men than women, have features that allow people to sort by specific attributes (height etc) before even meeting the person, and therefore get a lot of money from men trying and failing to be seen by the minority of women using them. Shakespeare and Chaucer etc called people with female sex characteristics women. Simple as. There’s no reason to believe that they would not consider a person who once had a penis and now has breasts and a vagina a person who had been transformed from a man to a woman. But what makes having sex (a mildly aerobic pleasurable social activity) hedonistic and ping-pong (a mildly aerobic pleasurable social activity) not? Hedonistic implies prioritizing immediate, shallow pleasure at the expense of long-term wellbeing, but the reasons why having sex would be prioritizing pleasure over wellbeing are obsolete.

Well, but how is doing something immoral if it doesn’t hurt anyone and gives someone else pleasure? I agree that we have a vague societal notion that having a lot of sex is somehow bad, but the reasons WHY it was bad are gone.

Who’s saying this isn’t true? I have never met a woman who didn’t think that some people are hotter than others, that more people want to date the hot ones, and that looks, money, and status make one hot (also pleasantness and compatibility). I’ve met significantly more men who don’t believe this (only for them, of course). Is this the red pill? Is this a “pill?”

“Lots of women derailed about how they deserve not to be harassed or assaulted or whatever…which is like…what am I or any other guy supposed to do about it? We are already not doing anything…Take it up with the ones who do.” Okay. I did not raise you to feel like you have to do all this extra stuff for women because they are women. I do not personally expect you or any man to protect me/“lean out.” Take it up with the ones who do. Unless you are the only person allowed to talk about men/women as…

Are you referring to ancient Greco-roman art? Because that was an artistic convention in a fairly small part of the world for a fairly short amount of time. Most of the world did not have the convention of stylistically depicting male genitalia as small, and men did not stop being in charge in Greece and Rome when those empires fell and those conventions fell out of use, and the places that did not have yhose conventions were not matriarchies. I agree that women need to stop body-shaming men. Bu…

A lot of guys on here seem to think that most women feel this like…intense visceral disgust for men they aren’t attracted to. In my experience, this isn’t so at all. I’ve been asked out by some pretty unconventional-looking dudes, and I never felt disgusted. I just thought, “nah, this guys not for me.” Sometimes I thought “darn, this guy put me in an awkward social situation when I just wanted to do my elliptical.” But neither me nor any of the women I know are walking around feeling disgust for…

As a bi woman who dates lesbians, this just ain’t true. Many lesbians are repulsed by kissing a man (just like many straight women are repulsed by kissing a woman) but not all. There is a HUGE number of people who identify as lesbian who read and write straight or gay male erotica. Lesbian sexuality isn’t more visual, either, in my experience—again, hence why more lesbians read WRITTEN porn. There are lesbian gold diggers, though there are significantly fewer rich lesbians than there are rich st…

Hairy chest and arms! broad shoulders, big chin, strong brow, Adam’s apple. Dick and balls. Also I think some men do not find it attractive for women to be physically strong, socially and sexually successful, and self-possessed, but I know plenty who do.

Only if the father does not register paternity! He doesn’t need to be in the hospital to register his paternity, and he doesn’t need the mother’s permission. When that happens, the child goes to him and the mother has to pay child support. Now, if the mother and father are strangers, or if the mother decides to move away and never see the father again, it is possible for the father to not know that the woman he slept with is pregnant, and thus not know to register paternity. This is bad. It’s a …

“Consent to sex isn’t consent to parenthood”doesn’t apply to either parent. Once the child exists, NEITHER parent can unilaterally decide to give up their parental responsibilities. If mom wants to give baby up for adoption, and dad wants to keep it, mom can’t just say “well, but I didn’t consent to parenthood, so I’m not paying child support.” She has to, just like he would. This was the case for my friend, who was mostly raised by her dad with her mom paying child support. It happens fairly of…

The best alternative is gender equality. The way to achieve it is looking at discriminatory laws, attitudes, and practices and working to fix them.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/26 04:16 PM

I am a feminist. I am not into the “men should approach” gender roles thing. When I hear women say that kind of thing, I object. I don’t think they’re gaslighting me by saying something that I (and you) think is regressive wrongheaded. They’re just…having kind of bad opinions. I also don’t think it’s reasonable to compare women expecting men to do the extra work in courtship of approaching them to men expecting women to…be servants for their entire lives. I think the more comparable gendered cou…

So, in this scenario, my husband and I are splitting labor 50/50 (we both work full-time, both do 50% of chores) but we do not have 50/50 decision-making power. That sounds like a bum deal to me.

culturally, women are raised to be more agreeable, conscientious, and conscious of how they are perceived. They are taught to be more concerned with whether people like them, and they are better taught how to make people like them and keep liking them. This isn’t all good, obviously, and can cause a certain amount of anxiety and harm, but it also results in easier relationship formation and stronger relationships. Not caring very much about whether people find you pleasant results in less people…

Sure. I mean, I don’t think it’s sexist or anything. Lesbians do it all the time. Obviously the rules about making jokes at other people’s expense and talking about their sex lives still apply: you can be more or less of a jerk about it depending on various factors, but those factors aren’t different for women.

Volunteer for a cause you care about. You’ll find people who have similar values and who you know are motivated by a general desire to be good and decent. Besides that, look for someone who doesn’t hurt people on purpose out of anger or self-interest or think he is better/smarter/more valuable than you or the average joe.

Social skills and personality have a huge effect on my visceral attraction. Masculinity does not. I truly do not care at all if a man seems “feminine” or “gay.” He can wear drag for all I care.

I think the “don’t go out just to meet women” crowd is dead wrong. I think it’s totally fine and good to do things, join hobbies, get interests just to meet women.* This is the problem with the internet, though: people will have lots of conflicting opinions and advice. *obviously it’s not cool to, say, join a pickleball team and then not give a shit and drag everybody down BECAUSE you only care about meeting women. But I think that’s a separate issue.

I do agree that autistic men have it harder, especially as adults, but I also think you are genuinely underplaying the struggles of autistic women. Just like autistic men often fall short of gendered expectations, so do autistic women, who, like all women, are held to higher standards for social skills, tact, and hygiene, and who are generally punished much more severely for failures to “know their place.” Being overly blunt, for example, is much more tolerated by men in the workplace and social…

There are 0 universally socially appropriate actions. Rude/socially inappropriate things are by definition just things that can reasonably be expected to make the other person feel bad/uncomfortable. A 65-year-old man hitting on me can be expected to know that it is VERY unlikely that I will be interested in dating, sleeping with, or flirting with him, so 1) it is clearly not his goal to have a mutually enjoyable interaction with me and 2) he is putting me in the unpleasant position of having to…

Yes, I agree. But the fact that people use context to understand people’s emotions based on their face and tone of voice doesn’t mean that they don’t do it. They do. Really, what your question comes down to is “do people unintentionally express how they feel in ways other people perceive?” Which, they do. This happens all the time.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/12/25 01:39 AM

🙄😡🤢😬😐. Now a question for you: do you believe that most people are not able to discern each others emotions based on facial expressions?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/12/25 01:16 AM

Explain how women infer toxicity from men: I don’t think anyone is saying that women, specifically, can read minds. However, a lot of the time, people can and do figure out if a person is simmering with resentment and contempt for them based on that person making facial expressions and comments that indicate their simmering resentment. Women have varying degrees of social skills and contextual awareness and thus varying degrees of ability to pick up on the facial expressions that indicate resent…

Friend. Most people don’t like to be bossed around, and I’m one of them. Why would I need someone to “hold me to my promises?” Meanwhile, “gets along with you well” is the primary baseline requirement for all relationships, romantic and otherwise.

The idea that looks are the most important thing when it comes to attracting a partner has never been an “obscure theory” for women. Little girls learn this extremely early on, almost universally. I think this is the cause of many people online feeling baffled that “looks matter” was ever a “pill” anyone needed to take—those people are women or have spent a lot of time in close proximity with women. That isn’t to say that “if you do all the right things you will get A Girlfriend as a reward” and…

I say “I’m mostly looking for casual at first, but im also very open to things turning romantic if thats what winds up happening” This is a nice, fun, and respectful way of saying “I would like to sex with you and hang out with you first, and if I like you enough, I’ll ask if you want to enter a committed relationship.” Because that is my intention. This seems like what a lot of guys are after too. Does that turn some guys off? Yes. Lots of guys don’t want to date someone who has had casual sex …

Look. Some people are naturally rebellious. Some people are naturally rule-following squares. Neither of these dispositions is “better.”There is simply no correlation between squareness and kindness or moral goodness. And yet the squares of the world keep trying to establish that actually THEIR disposition is better. The whole “nice guy” and “bad boy” thing is just that: squares assuming that people like them are better than people not like them and being baffled when other people don’t see it t…

Abuse is terrible, and men certainly aren’t immune to it. But, at least where I live, the “it’s just a slap” logic applies pretty evenly for men and women: the number of guys I’ve had slap my ass, HARD, without asking, is 4. 4!! I don’t know any dudes who have been slapped by 4 women. IMO people need to stop smacking each other.

Yes. There is nothing you can do that will please every woman in the world. No matter what you do, there will be women on earth who would criticize it. This seems unfair until you realize that women are 50% of the human population and just as varied in opinion, experience, intelligence etc as the other 50%. There’s nothing you can do that will please all men, either. However you act, there will be men on the internet who criticize people who act like you. Sometimes you will find yourself at the …
