That is a rubber concept if I have ever heard any. This can mean just about anything. What you mean is that you think it can mean just about anything, because that suits your opinion. If you think that having a rule against people being unpleasant to each other is so vague and ambiguous then you're the kind of person the rule is in place for. So, talking about what women do to perpetuate male gender roles and what they should change is hatred towards women. I think the question of why more men a…

Respectful and polite as you define the terms I am certain Nope. They're as any reasonable person would define them - i.e. we don't allow people to wander around getting aggressive, insulting or otherwise being a negative presence. Your subreddit has had multiple opportunities to start talking about what women do, and what genderd expectations women place on men. You chose not to. A crowning achievement on that tangent was this thread, What's the deal with this "yeah yeah okay but where's the wo…

Bollocks. I don't expect to be able to wander into an army recruitment centre and start droning on about how I don't support the army. You guys have proven that you're incapable of being respectful or even polite, so why you expect us to let you ramble on unfettered is beyond me. I'm specifically talking about the shit you and all the cool cats in SRSsucks, MensRights engage in. nothing to do with "feminism" and everything to do with you guys being so astoundingly upset by us actually existingth…

It's par for the course as far as I'm concerned. Most of the "gotcha" comments like this link to stuff that they have to be aware isn't representative. It's a shame because I'd be interested to see some actually well thought out criticism of ML. As it stands though people are happy to assert that we're either gormless self-hating cucks, or an insidious arm of Big Feminism that secretly wants all men assimilated.

Lucky for you the moderation of ML has no relationship with this person, so you can drop that shit and talk like a normal person.

If you're interpreting every part of this literally, then no Seems like a cop out to say that I'm in the wrong for taking a sentence making a specific statistical claim literally. That source also doesn't really prove anything. Aside from being over thirteen years old, it simply states that divorced men commit suicide more than women. Nothing in relation to: men being forced into a life of indentured servitude after divorce, unable to see their kids, living in some ratty apartment while the ex m…

most men kill themselves because they are in an impossible situation (often caused by legal discrimination, eg men being forced into a life of indentured servitude after divorce, unable to see their kids, living in some ratty apartment while the ex marries some douche who goes on to raise HIS kids etc. etc.). Any source for this?

I'm not really sure how you expect me to respond to this. I'm leaving your banning aside because that's besides the point. Where did I say that exactly? Top quality strawman, though. I almost fell for it myself. Oh, a subtle justification for an unfair generalisation? You don't see those often. Well, except for KaonPlus when talking about MRAs. Saw plenty of these during my time in menslib. Let me turn that around: "Menslib has made great pains to point out that they aren't associated with Jezeb…

Though I'm sure you'll think of something else to call it ("hate speech", "detracting" etc.) Nice Seriously, when is this "all leftists believe the same thing" meme going to run its course? MRAs have made great pains to point out that they aren't associated with TRP or MGTOW, but pretty much every time I comment here somebody does exactly what you just did. It's really, really boring. Honestly I'm struggling to think what relevance this could reasonably have to us. I don't recall us stating that we unilaterally support every action taken by any feminist anywhere, and I certainly don't recall us stating that feminism as it exists in 2016 is beyond reproach. We don't talk about it because it's flatly impossible to have a reasonable conversation about feminism on Reddit without people like those in this thread flooding in. It happened when we trended, and it happens every time w…

The really wonderfully telling thing is that we have never, not once, substantively talked about "listen and believe", but people like you feel the need to fall back on it to attack us because it's so much easier than actually thinking.

In all but words. I've seen more than enough posts whining about anti-rape tools and legislation, and asserting that women are at the mental level of children, to bring me to the conclusion that there's at best a lax attitude to rape.

The very best thing about you and all the other people who parrot the "cuckslib bans disagreement!@!@" is that we objectively don't, to the point that you have to be wilfully ignorant to think it's true. You know, you could have just said "why did you ban him?", but here you are doing exactly what this individual did; proving that you don't care. Why else would you have thrown in that charmingly insulting conclusion? He only had to ask like a reasonable person to get an answer - he didn't, so we didn't waste the time. Not a chance. I'm not going to give any time to reading a completely un-sourced passage of text from somebody who just called me dense in a conversation about criminal law. I have a god damn degree in law - i don't need to be told how evidence works with an obviously non-neutral account of some un-named case, with no obvious information as to its significance or impact - without which it would mean exactly nothing to me.

Lol. So you're not gonna respond to my well supported claim that feminists oppose men having equal rights? You mean that claim that you didn't support in any way? If a woman claimed that a stranger tied her up and raped her, without mentioning the fact that she was routinely tied up, a jury would be ignorant of a potentially exculpatory piece of evidence for the accused. Read a fucking book on criminal evidence because you haven't got a solitary clue what you're talking about.

If someone was into BDSM, for example, and claimed that she had been tied up and raped, that history is highly relevant. Why the fuck, why on gods green earth would it be relevant that somebody liked BDSM if they claimed they'd been tied up and raped? Obviously you have no actual knowledge of the criminal justice system regarding rape, and the effect and reasoning of rape shield laws. Do men make up the vast majority of combat deaths? Yes or no. Of course they fucking do! I didn't contend that they didn't! See what i was saying about warped interpretations? You seemed to be implying that there was something wrong with pointing out that 1% of the resources devoted to domestic violence go to men. I pointed out that it's even more absurd than the other claims: more resources are devoted to the dogs of abused women than to abused men. What on gods green earth. I obviously took um…

I mean the first one on this list is almost pathetic in terms of how obvious it is. Firstly, it's not actually backed up at all in the article they link. It could be made up for all i know. But even assuming it's actually accurate it's still not that simple. The statistic - as stated by the linked article - includes all deaths since the first gulf war. Even the most unaware person should at least be somewhat aware that women haven't had remotely the same access to combat roles since then. I mean…

Don't mistake this sentiment for insincerity as i'm genuinely curious, but why do you think linking that video proves anything in the slightest? If somebody claimed that men are scum, then somebody else disagreed, you wouldn't be proving anything by linking some video of a man doing a shitty thing. By the same token, linking to a well known incident of a group of feminists doing a shitty thing doesn't prove anything. Mostly because of the largely false impression of us that's been propagated for a while. If we let the people - i.e. Reddit - decide, we'd become just another MensRights or OneY clone. Believe it or not, people that don't agree with a community will do all they can to sabotage it. For anybody else reading this thread, this is why you were banned: How does it feel to know that the women you're so eager to save and help and empathize with hate you? And believe that you're a wolf in sheep's clothing? Given the sheer quantity of people we get who actively try and redpill us, we have a pretty much zero-tolerance approach to comments like this. Legal definition does not = feminist definition And your evidence that universities are using this "feminist definition" is...? As it goes you absolutely without a shadow of a doubt can rape somebody without being aware of the gravity of your actions. I've studied sexual assault at degree level and there's case after case of people who didn't think their actions amounted to rape.
/r/MensRights30/09/16 11:56 PM

The aim of the classes was to make students aware of the definition of rape In NUS guidelines, class leaders are instructed to tell freshers the legal definition of rape and sexual assault and discuss the dangers of 'victim-blaming' and 'slut shaming'. So yeah you're just talking nonsense. The legal definition of rape in England is incredibly clear and traditional

Firstly, trying to get specific legal details from a DM article is a fruitless endeavour, but either way they state that her acquittal was directed due to a lack of evidence. If a man was in her position the same thing would have happened, because her intoxication wasn't relevant to her acquittal.

2

So what are you taking issue with here?
/r/PussyPass15/09/16 03:18 AM
6

Nope. Criminal sentencing is based on standards, and generally isn't affected by past cases - that would require judges to keep track of every case that reaches a guilty verdict in their jurisdiction.
/r/PussyPass15/09/16 03:14 AM
4

Criminal trials don't work like that; the sentence is given after the verdict. I'm not familiar with the US state in question, but is it not possible that that's simply the minimum term for that offence?
/r/PussyPass15/09/16 02:24 AM
15

So women should be held to a lower preponderance of evidence in criminal trials? If there wasn't enough evidence, there wasn't enough. There are innumerable criminal cases which failed due to lack of evidence.

You should read ARMsucks sometime, and that not just the front page but go back easily 6 months and you find the opposite. But knowing you, you write it off as satire at best and that you approve everything they say as lets face it your in the same boat as them. Never miss a chance to attack the individual, right? The fact that both you and nemo find the distinction between your and you're so difficult to grasp is really rather quaint.
/r/MensRights07/07/16 01:04 PM

Alright, so your claim is that AMR is actually against the whole concept of men's rights? If you were claiming it was a toxic community, or that they were overly harsh, i would probably agree, but the suggestion that the community itself doesn't like men and actively likes to see them disadvantaged is just odd. Let alone the idea that such a claim should be obvious from reading anything posted there. reading their posts makes it obvious they just don't like men. What you're doing is the equivale…

hating Men's Rights is like blanket hating Human Rights - very misguided and highly suspect. What they hate is the Men's Rights Momvement - capital M R M. I'm not commenting on the validity of the movement, or this subreddit in particular, I'm just pointing out that hating the MRM is a viewpoint that is entirely distinct from hating the concept of advocacy for men's rights. Human rights is a very different concept - codified by several different legal bodies.

There is no Equal Pay Act as such - the 1970 act was superseded by the 2010 Equality Act which is the main basis for equality for protected classes in the UK. There is, as far as i'm aware, no explicit provision in statute stating that men and women should receive equal sentencing for equal crimes. It's important to consider the impact of aggravating and mitigating factors on this disparity - the assertion that it's just plain sexism is somewhat misguided in light of these statistics. Mature. I think, as I say, that jumping to conclusions about legal policy based off of single cases is short sighted. That isn't to say that single cases can't catalyse public opinion, or can't expose flaws, but in general there's little to be gained from pointing to two cases that don't represent the day to day reality.

Of course. Evidence can be clearly found in the infamous 1 in 5 stat that plagues campuses at the moment. A study that has been used as evidence for "rape culture" on campuses used very broad actions to define sexual assault and/or rape. Absolutely meaningless if you can't make it cover the similarly low rape reporting rates in all other countries. /r/MensRights11/05/16 02:11 PM

Basing public policy off of headline cases will be of no benefit to anybody. And perhaps rape rates are low because anything today can be construed as rape? What do you think now classifies as rape that didn't before? Surely if this is your reasoning for rape reports being low, you have to at least have some sort of evidence showing a widening of the legal definitions of rape?

lie What do you actually mean by that? The poster implied that mean words said in a domestic situation are illegal somehow. You have absolutely, categorically, no idea what you're talking about. Free speech has absolutely naught to do with this, this law is criminalising extended campaigns of emotional abuse. Not just being "mean". If you have an issue with that, i suggest you learn some empathy.
/r/MensRights26/04/16 08:14 PM

The actual law states: A person (A) commits an offence if— (a)A repeatedly or continuously engages in behaviour towards another person (B) that is controlling or coercive, (b)at the time of the behaviour, A and B are personally connected, (c)the behaviour has a serious effect on B, and (d)A knows or ought to know that the behaviour will have a serious effect on B. The poster itself actually uses the word "always" as well, so it's not criminalising single insults.

Holy fuck. Is this what it's come to? Not really. It's an isolated incident that doesn't represent a trend. It's absolutely, beyond words insane that it's happened, but there's quite a gulf between this and the general Title IX discrimination that a lot more men suffer from. Feminism did that? I'd say thats a result of increasing media hysteria and fear mongering. Feminism was the key reason women were able to become more than housewives, and the other side of that coin is that it also caused people to question whether men should be able to do the opposite.

Pointing out, and complaining about, some random person on tumblr is the definition of valueless. The people saying women voting for Bernie have a place in hell? Fine; that was coming from actual respected public figures and could have an effect on people. "Women's studies" doesn't come into it, nor do all the phrases you capitalised for some reason. It's just plain petty.

Yet they do. Apparently you haven't been reading up on the so call rape epidemic at colleges. That sentence doesn't actually mean anything in this context - what do you mean "so called "; are you saying women aren't getting raped, or are you doing the MRA thing of holding up one or two blog posts about regret rape as a national travesty?
/r/MensRights29/03/16 04:34 PM

Nobody wants that. I like to think i keep track of general discourse around gender issues, and i have never seen any respected author suggesting sexual harassment should count as rape.

As it goes, none of that affects me in sunny old England - regardless of how much of an issue it may be. As I've said, ML doesn't do meta gender discuission, so what benefit would bringing NOW up have? We prefer to actually discuiss men's issues constructively, not sit around uselessly complaining. You can't just drop a statement like that without sourcing it. That's common sense. You literally JUST said you delete anti-feminism comments. That is the definition of an echo chamber. Exactly the kind of comment I would remove on ML. Combative and not adding anything. It's not banning opinions for a steak club to eject a vegetarian, it's common sense. There's no value, no point to letting people go on and on about whether feminists really care about X; there's better subs for that debate. If you don't care about gender roles, then that's your prerogative. Feminists however do care about them, and take the view that they're the cause of a number of men's issues - sentencing disparity and custody disparity, for example. People DO believe rape victims, so much so that it's possible for non rape victims to claim they were raped and have people instantly believe them. Nowhere near as regularly as they should. Even the MRM should know that rape reporting levels are so low because of how victims are treated. Aside from the fact i don't believe you, that doesn't prove anything in the slightest. I dunno, kinda makes you feel like a second class citizen knowing that any woman can just accuse you of rape whenever she feels like it and have a good chance at ruining your life. Kind of like it makes women feel like second class citizens when they actually get raped and nobody, not even the police, believes them. Obviously rape accusations, where false, are a bad thing. But suggesting that they're systemic enough to reduce men to second class citizens is absurd.

Prison rape is not a uniquely american thing, and plenty of men get raped out of prison too. As i said, a lot less than women. If you look around this sub, even a little bit, you will find that men and women commit just about equal amounts of domestic abuse Violence is violence - you can't qualify it by pointing the women commit certain kinds more, or at a rate similar to men. only men are more likely to injure/kill because of their size and strength. Source?

Not if he didn't do it in a lewd or lascivious way, as is the law in OK. That's according to what's immediately ascertainable from googling the state's sexual offence laws. I'm happy to be proven wrong, but ii'm not happy to jump top sensationalist conclusions.

More counter evidence to feminist logic that men are the only violent ones and it will eventually show how easy they will get off. That isn't feminist logic, you're just fabricating stuff that sounds good. "Feminist logic", as you call it, does point out that men are far more likely to commit acts of violence than women - a hypothesis which is clearly proved by homicide and violent assault statistics word over affirm this.

To the best of my knowledge, sexual battery in Oklahoma requires the following "the intentional touching, mauling or feeling of the body or private parts of any person sixteen (16) years of age or older, in a lewd and lascivious manner" So...no. Nothing to do with their gender. Lol @mensrights doing exactly what they criticise feminism for.

"Vote with your wallet" is tossed out at any suggestion that big brands should change their business practices. It's a nice sentiment, but that's not how the world works. It's especially silly in this instance - Barbie is the biggest brand of children's doll, and has billions in advertising behind it. Those are the dolls that little girls will ask for. What OP's post is trying to highlight, even though it's an exaggeration, is that the social and legal consequences will generally be harsher on men who commit these types of acts. I certainly don't disagree with this - i'm a law student and it's hard to avoid the general sentencing disparity for most offences.
/r/MensRights29/01/16 06:37 PM

Why does that not work exactly as well in reverse? Why are women automatically the locks in that scenario? Furthermore, why do you think that you can prove any social hypothesis with an analogy? You appear to be claiming that a man who can fuck loads of women is a master, whereas a woman who fucks loads of men is bad - why? That said though, i was waiting for somebody to retort with slut shaming.

That doesn't apply at all in the UK. Aside from married couples allowance, there's also benefits for families with children as opposed to divorced couples sharing custody. If i'm married and my wife is my dependant, then she's either going to be looking after my children or i won't have married her. People do actually have free will.

Well that's obviously one example, along with significant legal benefits in the event of death without a will in place, child access in the event of separation, considerable social benefits, and obvious religious benefits for a large chunk of the population. In the UK a divorce costs about £410 in court fees. From what i've seen, one figure puts the average loss of net worth at 10-40% for the average male. I said that this post is stupid for suggesting that one incident of a woman letting her husband die is reason enough not to get married. ...ok? The end result is still a garbage-tier Wikipedia article. 99.999% of Wikipedia users never touch the discussion page. I don't even care for MGTOW, I'd just rather an ideology associated with the MRM not be made to look bad.

There is stigma against trannies by I would say most people, men and women. Ohhh fuck i must have missed that, alright then go right ahead and keep saying "trannies". You act as if this is only in the men's rights activist community. People wonder why the MRM isn't taken seriously by the media; this is partly why. You'll be hard pressed to find a modern news outlet referring to "trannies", being as it's pretty much the same as saying "homos". I mean, and feminism nowadays isn't really taken seri…

Bringing up the Teapot is just absurd. Saying that a negative cannot be proved using that analogy is about as inteleculaly dishonest as I can imagine. The question is one of their bias in what stories they report. You're talking about the age old question of "women and children first" - not especially relevant to this post, and not at all relevant to the comment my response was directed to.

feminist assertion that all men are rapists. lol "Unwanted male gaze", "This is rape culture" Do you actually know what you're arguing against at this point? Rape culture has absolutely and categorically naught to do with harassment or anything in this post. Why are you bringing it up? Male Gaze is also a bit of a stretch, you can hardly argue that there's a connection between a kid giving another kid a love note, and male gaze theory.

Political correctness, i'd say. Society has generally become more progressive, more library over the past century - legalisation of various types of marriage, relaxed attitudes to porn and obscenity etc, and political correctness is a part of that. Schools are telling kids not to call each other "gay" or "retarded", we don't call black people "coloured people" and game shows don't use women as window dressing. I'd put this situation as a consequence of this general ideological shift, not so much…

Lol? and how often do they even get sent to prison for this? Not too often, because false rape accusation as a general term is very, very vague. /r/MensRights17/11/15 06:36 PM

That's just not how criminal sentencing works. Everybody that ends up in jail doesn't do so for revenge, they go there for punishment, public deterrent, and rehabilitation - in different measures depending on the crime. False accusation isn't a violent crime and it doesn't interfere with the health and comfort of the victim, something which makes violent crime, domestic abuse and other similar crimes the most serious in our society. Do you actually think 9 months in prison isn't punishment?

Did you read my comment? The government currently doesn't put money or judicial resources into "false rape accusations"- a vague term to begin with. What about women who accuse somebody who they thought did it, but didn't? What about women who accuse men when it turns out there was a miss commutation? Apples and oranges. Rape is, almost always, a crime whose prosecution is based off so-called "he said, she said" testimony. There might be witnesses for events before and after, but in a lot of the college situations that are making the news, it's anecdotal evidence. Murder, more often than not, involves a dead body; a physical consequence of the crime. It's often called the flood gates principle; creating liability in a given area might make sense, but it would open the flood gates the thousands of civil actions. For example, currently in the UK damages can't be claim for economic loss that doesn't flow directly from the injury or damage. There's plenty of examples where this seems overly harsh, but when you think about it it would allow a person who missed a job interview to sue somebody who crashed their car and caused a traffic jam. /r/MensRights09/10/15 09:51 PM

Regarding Perjury or property damage? Law often concerns itself with matters of social policy, and the negative effects of creating liability for perjury would far outweigh the positive. Tort law requires a material connection between the act, and the damage, and, as i've said, that wouldn't exist in this case. At least by the standards of english law.

/r/MensRights09/10/15 06:39 PM

Well I'm talking about causation as a legal term here, not in the colloquial sense. Legal causation, in civil law, is pretty cut and dried and in this case her lie didn't directly cause the damage. There's thousands of cases in which damage is arguably caused by an action, but it's never as simple as that.

I think that with a movement or ideology like feminism it's difficult to say "feminists believe..." for anything other than women's equality. I've never seen something so intellectually dishonest. Feminism as a movement has its ups and downs, but you absolutely can't claim that feminists think false rape accusations are a good thing. I didn't, I was just joking with myself. This isn't what feminism is. This is what a particular strain on feminism in a particular county has stooped to. You can't have notallmen, and then paint people fighting not for the rights of women in Saudi Arabia with the same brush as these idiots.

Well, i'm not really talking in moral terms, more in practicalities. Just this past week a man was spared the death penalty with three days to spare because it turns out that the justice system isn't perfect.
/r/PussyPass05/10/15 10:01 PM
2

Not really sure what you're insinuating. A person who killed somebody else should be prosecuted either way, and a result of not guilty by reason of insanity doesn't mean that the defendant is just turned loose into society again. Also, nobody should be killed by the state as a result of a trial. Ever.
/r/PussyPass05/10/15 05:11 PM
1

I can only suggest that your opinion is founded on having little to no knowledge of how criminal law wrks, and the theory behind it. Murder isn't just "X kills Y"; depending on the country or jurisdiction it can encompass a wide range of actions and eventualities. For example, in the UK a murder conviction doesn't require the defendant to have intended to take a life, only intention to commit grievous bodily harm. Would you claim that a person has to be insane to seriously injure another? Furthe…
/r/PussyPass04/10/15 08:31 PM

Insanity as a defence has little to do with the colloquial usage of the word. Even then, why can't a normal, sane person murder somebody? If i'm living on pennies a day and decide to rob somebody, and end up killing them in the struggle, do i suddenly become insane? No. Insanity as a legal term refers to a person with a specific, medically diagnosed disease of the mind, not just somebody breaching the societal pressure not to kill other people.
/r/PussyPass04/10/15 06:36 PM

You can think that, but the majority of western criminal law systems are based on the fact that what you said is not true.

Quotation marks are a thing. You don't use them unless something is being quoted. It's kind of simple. Normalised is a very, very long way from everybody being "cool with it".
/r/MensRights01/10/15 11:17 PM

Again, where has any prominent feminist suggested or stated that we're all totally cool with rape? Also that's a ridiculously stupid way to describe the theory.

I echo /u/war_and_Oats. This was the sub that got me into reddit, and one of the first that i stepped back from. The sheer quantity of outright misogyny, red-pill bullshit, and ignorance masked as activism is amazing. Not to mention the out-right dismissal of literally anything with the word feminism, or indeed the prefix "fem" attached to it, as if nothing good has ever come out of the ideology and all it's ever done is suppress men. I actually saw somebody suggest, in this very sub, that men h…

Is Facebook or Twitter needed to survive? No. Is Facebook or Twitter required to gain life skills or learn? No. You can't be serious. Do you really categorise everything in life as either essential to being alive or gaining skills, and frivolous? I mean, plenty of people that don't identify with the MRM are aware of this fact. It's discussed more here, but if you read newspapers etc then you'll find that it's not some kind of secret scandal.

Speaking as a law student, that's not really true. They'll look for evidence that the accuser is mistaken, but not that they were lying. The police aren't going to start considering Obstruction for every single case they process.

/r/MensRights24/09/15 09:16 PM

You ask why men's rights aren't taken seriously? Re-read your last paragraph. Society has an issues with gender equality and both genders have their own issues. We are barley 50 years out of a time during which women were systematically, and indeed willingly, oppressed in pretty much every country; a lot of people find it hard to break away from that perception. Nobosy seriously uses that as an excuse for anything. Have you ever considered that those are actually different groups of people say that, that you have a confirmation bias, or that you're simplifying a complex and nuanced issue? People in my parents generation chose to send their male children to a private school, and their female children to a public school. That's men and women making s positive choice based on nothing more societal cues. Like it or not, most people don't care for "logic" or…
/r/MensRights01/09/15 12:44 AM

Alright then; I'm not saying i agree with it, but reducing the idea to "women killing women because men" is pretty much insulting to women as well as simplifying an incredibly nuanced issue.
/r/MensRights31/08/15 04:13 PM
13

The concept at play here is that societal pressure can affect the way people act, with the SUPPOSED prevalence that men SUPPOSEDLY have in society being given as the reason that women might prefer to have male children. In this sense, it is absolutely plausible for women to want to abort female babies because of men/society. In much the same way, i've seen articles suggesting that men go into more profitable degree areas because they feel pressured to gain wealth to get a woman. Men themselves p…

Rape is sex without consent; people under a certain age are deemed not to be able to consent to people above a certain age, therefore there is no consent. AKA Rape.

But the issue st hand is ensuring the child is raised in a good environment, something which is hard when there's only one income.
/r/MensRights26/08/15 09:47 PM

That's not fair. Pregnancy is incredibly painful, somewhat dangerous, and irreversibly changes the mothers body. On top of that, the emotional pain of adoption cannot be understated. Furthermore, there are already thousands of children awaiting adoption in the US; clearly system doesn't work and advising women to put their unwanted children up for adoption will only ensure that the child lives a bad life.

/r/MensRights26/08/15 11:17 AM

And the numerous examples of child support being required after male rape or deception don't count, I suppose?
/r/MensRights26/08/15 12:09 AM
-1

Maybe it's your wording, but this sounds like you're complaining that women have the right to terminate a pregnancy without consulting the man involved. This is a fact of nature; yes, the current system of child support is poor, but in theory it makes sense. Abortion is not something to be taken lightly, and it's not fair to say to women that they must choose between raising a child in financial hardship, or go through an abortion.
/r/MensRights26/08/15 12:07 AM

/r/MensRights17/08/15 10:22 AM

How is this any different from claims made on this sub that men suffer from societal pressure not to show emotion? Being surrounded by, and constantly exposed to, a particular portrayal of a person's gender could very easily influence the way that person sees themselves.

Rule fucking one of reddit, the down vote button is not a disagree button.
/r/MensRights11/08/15 11:48 AM
-2

I don't even care. SRS at the most sends 30-40 down votes, and that's usually to comments that are well into the hundreds or thousands. If "large numbers" are the issue then i say again, why is it SRS and not SRD on the chopping block?
/r/MensRights06/08/15 12:20 PM
-19

SRS constantly breaks almost every rule. Curious, which rules are these? If it's brigading, then i'm surprised you aren't calling for SRD to do, what with it being far, far more prevalent in terms of actual numbers. SRS is shit, but it hardly affects anything. Jesus christ this fucking sub, anything remotely outside the box gets automatically down voted.
/r/MensRights06/08/15 03:45 AM
2

I'm not really interested in the religious aspect of the issue; the fact is it happens, and the reason is irrelevant. It's the same with same-sex marriage. If the question is, are uncut men the norm in western society, then the answer would be yes.
/r/MensRights03/08/15 09:12 PM

Great mother of christ, did you just defend FGM?
/r/MensRights03/08/15 04:38 PM

Looking at that map, the US is one of the few 'western' nations where male circumcision is common. Outside of Aus, pretty much every other western democracy is in the red, with the nations in blue being mostly african and the middle east. I don't mean to sound racist, but generally if you're on a list that doesn't include other western nations and includes the majority of Africa and the middle east, you're probably doing something wrong.
/r/MensRights03/08/15 04:34 PM
4

how uncut men are treated by American/western society. I'm 20 years old, have had numerous sexual partners (yay me) and i've never felt shamed or treated poorly because i'm not circumcised. I think the issue with male circumcision is the fact that it happens, not so much the way society treats un-cut guys.
/r/MensRights03/08/15 04:32 PM

If a biological man is attacking anybody, it's 100% reasonable for them to get kicked in the balls. Girls aren't "taught to kick men in the balls", at the most they're told that it's an effective means of escaping a dangerous situation.
/r/MensRights28/07/15 12:25 AM
-4

Not a reason. The nightly news doesn't repeat stories from the 90s just because kids today weren't alive for them. Fairness be damned, this movement should be striving for the full equality of both sexes, talking about shit that happened years ago is a waste of time at best, and doesn't have any purpose as he movement sits today. Really? Anybody or any organisation that aligns even remotely with feminism is almost certain to get branded an SJW at some point. On this sub I've seen people suggest …
/r/MensRights28/07/15 12:23 AM

So in this case it's suddenly ok to emulate them? In every other way this sub and Reddit absolutely despises "SJWs", so why are you content with using their behaviour as reasoning to keep returning to this years old video.
/r/MensRights27/07/15 09:46 PM
13

Where the hell do you live where young girls are actually told that it's ok to kick boys in the balls? Where i live, kicking a girl in the crotch isn't a thing
/r/MensRights27/07/15 04:53 PM

If i see this reposted again i swear i'm going to cry. I get it. These women did a stupid fucking thing and the internet went mental over it. Can we let it go now?
/r/MensRights27/07/15 04:51 PM

It's plain irrelevant/meaningless though. The way /r/feminism is run doesn't have any bearing on feminism as a movement.
/r/MensRights27/07/15 01:53 AM
-3

Maybe because it's fucking stupid that all people in this sub do is complain about feminism and and pose "reverse gender" scenarios. Feminists that spend all their time hating on MRAs are derided be this sub, so why is it ok for us to do the opposite?
/r/MensRights26/07/15 10:44 PM

What does that have to do with anything?
/r/MensRights26/07/15 10:41 PM

/r/MensRights09/07/15 09:42 PM

I'm genuinely interested in what you think i wrote. I made a simple point, got down voted, and made an edit. What's so impossible to fathom about that.
/r/MensRights08/07/15 08:13 PM

I edited the post to put the "edit" section. Why are you thinking that i edited in typos? I made them in the original post and didn't bother to edit them out.
/r/MensRights08/07/15 07:12 PM
1

There's a massive "EDIT" section at the bottom. That's what i edited in. Jeez.
/r/MensRights08/07/15 07:05 PM
1

Not really. Your original comment was pretty vague in what it was actually responding to. generally in a relationship women are the ones to withhold affection Any source for that? Doesn't hold true for pretty much anybody i know. institutional backing Regardless, Child support and alimony do not support women withholding affection in any imaginable way. Alimony is a legitimate issue but it's got nothing to do with this.
/r/MensRights08/07/15 06:59 PM
1

What? I'm saying that sex is and should be a part of a normal relationship, and the wilful withholding of it could eb grounds for sexual abuse. This has nothing do with men vs women, let alone divorce. Also, child support is a totally different issue to alimony. Forcing a man who divorces his wife and leaves her with the kids to help pay for their upbringing is absolutely not objectionable.
/r/MensRights08/07/15 05:52 PM
2

So you're done with women because of a particular possible law? Even if this was the law everywhere and men were assumed to be guilty of rape, that wouldn't be reason to be "done with women."
/r/MensRights08/07/15 04:09 AM
-3

If it's done over a long pwrios of time and comes in conjunction with other abuse, then I can't see a problem with that. EDIT. At least try and refute me. Down voting with no response is just stupid.
/r/MensRights08/07/15 04:08 AM

You're equating feminism with outright man-hate which is similarly disingenuous. At most it's misguided ideas about where the balance between the genders lies. I do enjoy being told to shut up though, that's really classy.
/r/MensRights18/06/15 10:47 PM
-5

Not really sure what you're talking about. I'm saying the term "womyn" doesn't belong in a rational debate about gender politics. Nothing to do with this post.
/r/MensRights18/06/15 02:24 AM
-3

Feminists across the spectrum use the term "Womyn's Rights." Not in anywhere near the number that you could use it as a term to insult them. I'm not even going to touch that first part, i don't have a clue what you're on about. I sense some "freedom of speech" creeping in?
/r/MensRights18/06/15 02:22 AM
3

I mean, i've seen PLENTY of disturbing shit get popular on twitter or wherever, but claiming that all PIV sex is rape is right up with reducing men to 10% of the population; it gets talked about because everyone (for the most part) knows how retarded it is.
/r/MensRights18/06/15 12:52 AM

To be clear, one particular person on Facebook is fucking mental. "These people" is disingenuous when paired with that image.
/r/MensRights18/06/15 12:44 AM

Womyn's Rights This fucking shit needs to stop. It's blatantly unfair to paint even moderate feminism with that extreme tumblr-style shit. If you want to criticise feminism, do so for actual reasons and not for stupid internet BS.
/r/MensRights18/06/15 12:40 AM
2

Maybe in the wider natural world, but for humans that absolutely is not the case. There is categorically no place for rape in society; whereas some animals like Otters or Dolphins do it for survival, we don't need to. Therefore, for humans at least, there is a stark difference between the word sex, and its connotations, and the word rape and its connotations
/r/MensRights18/06/15 12:38 AM
3

Rape, despite what a lot of people would suggest, is still one of the few words in western society that commands such a great deal of solemnity when used in a serious situation. It's partly the reason why i personally find rape jokes vs murder jokes to be off-putting because an act "rape" is just so utterly socially taboo, compared to murder which doesn't really seem to have that quality.
/r/MensRights18/06/15 12:35 AM

Right, so not men's rights. It's just criticising feminism, which is pretty what much everybody else on reddit thinks this sub is for.

/r/MensRights24/05/15 12:09 PM

Dude come on. That's one specific situation that made the news for a specific reason. When a woman is raped with no unusual circumstances, it won't make the news. By the same token, a suicide by a man that has other aspects to it will make the news. Like Aaron Schwartz.
/r/MensRights24/05/15 12:06 PM
1

And you think the person committing suicide has the thoughts of anybody else in mind? They're depressed to the point that they want to end their life; trying to impress some sort of responsibility onto a person in that situation is insensitive to say the least.
/r/MensRights24/05/15 08:48 AM

Oh yeah, probably could have worded that better. I mean 10 different trains have had to stop. Over 3 years.
/r/MensRights23/05/15 08:51 PM

I think you're being overly sceptical. Also, anybody in this situation would try and keep their job, that's immaterial to whether she loses hers.
/r/MensRights23/05/15 08:03 PM
3

In one instance. Also, you're assuming the reason that even made the news was solely that she was a woman, and not that she was young, or attractive, or had self image issues.
/r/MensRights23/05/15 08:02 PM
36

I've had the train i'm on stop at least 10 times because of a suicide on the line. Every single time the announcer has stated that the delay is due to a fatality on the line. This woman will lose her job. There is nothing mensrights-y about this event, she's just a shitty person. Of course nobodies questioning this individual suicide, it's just not interesting. It happens all the time, all over the world. It's the same reason that individual rapes aren't news.
/r/MensRights23/05/15 07:43 PM

Paid time off to start a family has nothing to do with my point. They take the time off and as a result of society, end up sacrificing their career. Lol, look at any news channel. You're far more likely to find attractive, young women than you are old, average women, whereas you'll find plenty of middle age men. What rights do women have that men do not?
/r/MensRights09/05/15 01:42 AM

I beg to differ. The fact that men have access to condoms and nothing else is immaterial. The subject is birth control; the number of varieties doesn't matter in the slightest. I'm trying to find reasons that you're defending this restriction but it's pretty hard.
/r/MensRights08/05/15 11:59 PM
-2

The ability for men to have birth control options shouldn't have any bearing on women's choices -- I never implied that either. I brought up the fact that men and women don't have equal rights, with birth control as an example. You called bullshit on that, then going on to talk about men having no options. What else could the point of that have been if not mitigation for the restriction of women rights. and so does being circumcised. So...what? I didn't insinuate men should have a say in abortio…

Women are obligated to be attractive in order for them to get any attention, regardless of the reason. Women have the obligation to compromise their career in order to start a family. Next?
/r/MensRights08/05/15 11:25 PM
-3

Firstly, even insinuating that men should have a say in abortion is abhorrent. The fact that we don't have alternatives or a say in abortions is a byproduct of biology. Why should birth control methods that men have access to have ANY bearing on what women should be allowed to use? Jesus christ. Condoms make for less stimulating sex. That's a fact, and suggesting that a solution to restrictions to birth control access would be women insisting on using them is not only bizarre, but would result i…

Today, seeing as how men and women have identical rights and opportunities in our country, Not saying i support feminism, but that certainly isn't true. Access to birth control and abortion for women is under attack in a massive number of states.

Not that i'm a fan of every part of it, but this definitely isn't feminism. No major feminist or feminist organisation has the position that female on male rape is hilarious. It might suggest that men are to blame for all rape, and that men are to blame for...all of societies problems, but definitely not that rape can be funny.

In this case, it's well accepted because it's true. Are you really suggesting that the reason that women take longer in the bathroom is that they're doing their makeup?
/r/MensRights07/05/15 06:59 PM
1

Err no. It's pretty well accepted that women take longer in the bathroom. Search askreddit, there's threads there explaining it. You just sound sexist right now.
/r/MensRights07/05/15 06:05 PM

Honestly they should just make women's bathrooms much bigger. It's a perfectly logical thing to do.

The problem is that, with women's bathrooms being the same size as mens, women end up having to queue for ages to pee. If you've ever been to a tourist heavy city in mid summer and gone to a place like McDonalds, you'll often see a colossal line for the women and a far shorter one for men. What would be better for everybody would be to give women larger bathrooms. It might sound sexist, but it's just admitting natural differences.

No she shouldn't. For the same reason that when a person is found innocent of a crime, the witnesses aren't made to pay for the trial. If a sexual assault had actually happened, we wouldn't want the threat of having to pay multiple hundred dollars where the officer is found innocent. Especially knowing how ridiculously corrupt many police unions are recently.
/r/MensRights29/04/15 03:06 AM
1

Ok, but maybe what we should be doing is trying to combat that behaviour, instead of limiting the way that women can live their lives. I don't agree with the claim that men never fear for their safety while women fear for it daily; when i'm walking back to my student halls at 3am i definitely keep my wits about me. The issue is that a lot of people's idea of rape prevention is actions that a woman can take, not actions that society can take.
/r/MensRights29/04/15 01:39 AM
1

Ok, but rape is an exponentially more horrific crime. I feel like a lot of people on the internet point to rapes that happen in situations like this and just blame the woman. Rape seems to be treated as an inevitability by some people, and that's pretty fucked up; if society blamed the rapist more, rapes might happen less.

Rape and sexual assault happen because people put themselves in bad situations Agree (However, obviously, that is only one contributing factor to rape and sexual assault). Not sure i agree with this. Maybe it's the wording of the question, but rape and sexual assault don't happen because people put themselves in bad situations, they happen because a rapist rapes them. There's a difference between giving ways that people can avoid getting raped, and then saying that their failure to do those thin…

When you say "feminists" you involve them. That's the reason that the twitter talk about men being terrible is absurd, because by saying "men" they are covering every single man.
/r/MensRights15/04/15 08:59 PM
1

That's a pretty flawed view. I live with three girls who call themselves feminists but don't participate in much discussion around the movement. The word "feminist" still has an inherent meaning and it's still perfectly fine for people to use it to define their views, even if they don't spend hours a day on tumblr.
/r/MensRights15/04/15 08:52 PM

Oh right, no i just meant that it happens in colleges for some specific reasons. They act like echo chambers because nobody can challenge the rhetoric. I guess there is some contingent of feminists that actually think that ALL sex should have verbal consent before it, but i definitely think that that idea will not hold any water with the general public. Consent as a concept is different, i definitely think young people should know more about
/r/MensRights15/04/15 10:03 AM

I wouldn't say it's a standard just because it exists in US colleges. Feminism is a world-wide thing, and at least in the UK there is nobody suggesting that consent should be that struct. Rape culture policies are the result of pandering and overreaction. Questioning feminism is public suicide so people just seem to go along with it, regardless of how crazy it is. by feminist standards that's rape. I don't think that's quite true. The main feminist movement is seeking to educated about consent as a part of sex. That's a good thing in the main, while there might be some tumblrinas and guardian writes that think that all sex that doesn't start with "yes" is rape, that isn't the view of the majority.

I don;t agree with this one bit. The reason that Parks and Rec made fun of the MRA and the reason that in general the movement is seen as a refuge for sexists, is because all it really does is attack feminism. You can't be serious. Sex is an incredibly important part of a young person's life, whether they do or don't actually have it, it's all over every different media 24/7. Watching an action movie is so far away from porn it hurts; if a confused teenager googles porn right now, as i just did, one of the first 6 results is this. That is not normal sex, but the difference is that it's not unreasonable for an impressionable kid to see that and accept that as what sex should be.

A woman leading a mens rights group is absolutely nothing like a white person leading black rights. Many of the issues that the MRM focuses on are in fact issues that moderate feminists would agree with because in disadvantaging men, they're infantilising women. That's pretty damn ignorant of you. Many women don't report rape with the police but will report it to a survey or questionnaire. The fact that the internet and reddit especially is moving so violently to questioning every possible aspect of a rape victims story before they've even reached trial is creating an atmosphere where a women will just choose to stay quiet. How are people thinking with their hearts? If a person is raped, they are raped.
/r/MensRights01/04/15 02:39 AM

Very true. Nobody in this post has really touched on it, but while porn in theory isn't a bad thing, the bizarrely over-sexualised and almost violent sex that a lot of porn involves could be very damaging for teens. Teen boys especially who watch it more than girls could well see that and believe that sex should at least to some extent be like that.

False rape/sexual harassment accusations-making the public aware of these and how they negatively affect men. I absolutely disagree. How does it demand it? I can't think of a single way all men are forced to give money to women.
/r/MensRights21/03/15 04:20 AM

That's the dictionary, technical definition, sure. It's not a bad thing to discuss it in the modern sense of objectification being a detrimental thing. Obviously the words themselves are still needed, like all words. Seems like you're just distracting from the issue by claiming that the word doesn't mean what it does. Whatever you want to call it, it happens more to women than men and it's bad. If society exists in a constant environment where women are lorded for their bodies and not what they …

WHAT THE FUCK. I'm saying i don't blame a group of people for being jaded towards a group, some followers of which have done some really shitty things to their discussion spaces. The fact that you've taken that from what i said is quite telling. I also don't blame MRAs for being jaded against feminism because of the killallmen and stopwhitepeople2k15 stuff. I happen to think that both groups have their flaws, i'm just saying that it's human nature to reject a group if the people harassing you be…

Sexual objectification is good? Are you insane? Any reasonable argument goes out the window when you start claiming that the reduction of a gender to its physical attributes is a good thing.

Adjusting for variables, women are on average paid 5% less for the same work. Over a lifetime that is a large sum and is CLEARLY an area where women have it worse. Women are also sexually objectified in the media far more than men. Women are raped and sexually assaulted outside of prison more than men. Come on dude. What's this, downvotes with nobody refuting me? I guess I forgot which sub I was in.

You know r/feminism is brigaded to hell, right? I don't blame them for not being warm and fuzzy to groups that foster the people doing it.

No. That's as bad as them saying that if you support women's rights, you're a feminist. To be an "atheist" to the feminist religion, if it can so be called, you just have to reject the movement. Looking at some of the sexism on this sub that doesn't grt challenged, I regularly think about not calling myself an MRA. I still believe in the core tenants of the movement though.

Well to be fair, while men and women both suffer from DV at a comparable level, women are much more likely to be seriously injured. When you compare the number of women with life threatening injuries from their partner to that number for men, there's definitely a bigger gap.
/r/MensRights12/03/15 01:17 AM

Ok this post is wrong. The article states that they will be taught that they are not at fault if they get drunk and get raped. Because they aren't. I know that if i got drunk and some woman raped me, i'd blame her. Women who say they were raped need to be questioned and to have their situation investigated, however being drunk absolutely does not in any possible way reduce the crime of a rapist. Regret-sex is entirely different.
/r/MensRights08/03/15 08:18 PM

Wat. I'm not the biggest fan of the idea of a patriarchy, but allowing women to use a gym/pool for a few hours is a looooooong way from a matriarchy.
/r/MensRights05/03/15 04:47 PM
4

That's what the issue is for me; i don't even care, in fact I accept that both men AND women might be more comfortable without the other sex in the gym, but not offering the same for both genders is just not fair.
/r/MensRights05/03/15 04:46 PM

Even if the women paid more for it, it still wouldn't be fair. I personally pay a daft amount for a good gym that's open late because i can't go any other time.

So if a man either fails to use a condom correctly, the woman should be forced to abandon her personal beliefs? That's my definition of immoral.
/r/PussyPass20/02/15 02:30 PM

Nah I don't follow that. I support women's rights but I'm not a feminist because modern feminism isn't something I like. I'm also reluctant to call myself an MRA because there's a bit too much sexism for me.

So if abortions were completely illegal, then would you support men paying child support? Just because it's available, does not mean that a woman can be assumed to have the option of abortion available to her. Whether for religious, health or general morals, a woman is completely within her rights not to want an abortion. She should not be forced to compromise her beliefs.

Oh right, so because I'm a liberal must fucking love some news channel from a country I don't live in? Fox News uses the word liberal as an insult. I take issue with that. It's as bad as the idiots at fox news presenting the "liberal" as the boogey man, the menace that's coming to force you into mosques and into FEMA camps. I'm as liberal as they come, i support progressive ideas, like actually being able to charge women with rape. I know, crazy.

Simple stuff; i prefer life to based on merit, not gender, race or family. Nothing more, nothing less. But it is though. The woman can choose what to do with her pregnancy; it's unfortunate that man is 100% beholden to her choice but that's just how it has to be. Your first is specific to a few individual countries. Even then, nobody has actually been subject to that for decades. Your second is moot. Child support is for the benefit of the child; it sucks that some guys end up paying for a child they had on a one night stand but thats just the way genders work. Women are the ones that give birth so they have the choice, and beyond that it's the welfare of the child. I see your point though. I have no objections to your third but your suggesting that i'm …

What else could she do? if I have sex with a woman, she gets pregnant accidentally and doesn't want to have an abortion what alternative is there for her? The point is that whatever the case or circumstances, a child should have the best opportunities available. As a man it sucks because your fate is in the hands of the woman you impregnatied but that's just touch luck, legislating in a way that suggests abortion is a viable alternative is just a hilarious idea.

I just don't get why it can't be "don't hit anybody". Why do women have this inailiable right not to be hit that men just...don't. They're trying to put women forward as strong, powerful and equal to men, and yet at the same time it's our job to protect them, or at the very least treat them differently to men. It's like GTA 5, slaughter 10,000 men? A-ok! Have the option of killing a women? Ban it!

But they still had to, it's how many modern couples work. If I give up my life for my relationship and then my partner runs off to marry a younger, fitter woman I think I would want some compensation. I do think that a woman who leaves her husband for another man shouldn't expect a penny though.
/r/MensRights03/01/15 05:16 PM

I'm just saying that the point he's making with those clips is wrong. We say craftspeople or firefighters because thats why those people are of interest. We say "a man killed" or "gunman" because that's all we know about the person. Absolutely there's a double standard with men and women and how men can't be victims but the idea that you can't say "individual" or "craftsperson" is silly.

Good for you, keep believing that. I've been subbed to this sub for months, I've read the side bar and in any case that's so completely not what I'm referencing. I'm an MRA but of course because I don't agree with the bizarre vitriol that this sub revels in I MUST be a feminist. I'm not curious, I was making a point and as I said in the god damn OP I was ready to be told I was wrong...in a civil way.

Yikes, thanks for that. Can nobody see that prison rape and spousal/date rape are different? You wouldn't expect to reduce prison rape with nail varnish would you.

For the love of christ i've explained this. I'm categorically not saying prison rape isn't rape, i'm saying it isn't relevant when talking about the issues surrounding attitudes towards women on the outside.

I don't count that. I count rape as any party continuing without clear consent. If both parties are drunk then obviously there can't be a rape. Not sure where you're getting this from. If I get drunk but I'm aware and a sober woman has sex with me against my will then that's clearly tape.

I didn't read the link because its not related to my point. I don't really care about what wave of feminism were in or what theory a certain movement is based on.

Wow. No I did not say once that women get raped more. Not a Single time. That's not the issue I'm interested in. You're wilfully straw-manning me here so I'm bowing out.

Ok so this is what I wanted from this post. I'm not a feminist. I don't agree with much of what I read on blogs or YouTube. I'm a man and it infuriates me beyond words to see legitimate issues that affect me being laughed off by feminists. perhaps I'm just playing devils advocate. I just wanted to step out of my box for an evening.

My point was that they didn't. They were undeniably feminists, if you're telling me that through the application of various theory's that they weren't then you're deluded. Feminism is categorically not about destroying everything about. That's a silly thing to suggest.

So I am to infer from that than the suffragettes were wrong then? Ask anybody and they'll tell you that they were feminists. I'm not interested in the theory of it, I'm interested in its goals and methods.

Because prison is a totally different environment. Talking about inter gender rape excludes prison rape because by it's nature it's impossible. The debate around anti rape nail polish and consent while intoxicated is just totally different. The talk about teaching men not to rape doesn't apply either. I would have thought it didn't bear saying, but then the internet happened. PRISON RAPE IS ABHORRENT. Any rape is equally as abhorrent as the next, it's a slippery slope to rank rapes as better or …

Wow ok way to miss the point, I didn't say one was worse than the other, i just said they're different. To combat them we need to use different strategies, that's my point. Jumping to me being a rape apologist is some fucking off the chart specious reasoning my friend.

Well that's not true. I'm trying to be open minded; people get set in their ways and I tried to see if I could see things from a different point of view. You comparing me to a nazi because I'm trying to get a fair view of a serious set of issues is nothing short of bizarre. I've posted on a bunch of feminist subs asking questions and never once have I been treated with the spite that I have here. Well some for that though.

Right so rather then me try to educate myself I should just walk away. And you say there's no problems with this movement. Savage attacks? The worst I've got so far is this comment.

This. I don't count prison rape as being the same as finding someone Walking home at night and raping them. They're two very different situations.

I'm not trying to big up feminism. I'm just saying that there might be another side to the story. Maybe. I don't really know.

I was being flippant with my age etc, I don't think that they add or detract any validity from what I'm saying.
