While that number seems high, I'm not concerned with the 1 in 200. It's the .003 of the 1 in 200 that address the danger. The other 99.997 percent just need to use the toilet.

I have two points. First is to let people live their lives and to quit acting like there is harm because a transgendered person wants to use a bathroom. My other point is really my primary point. I would say not. I was trying to highlight the right's risks associated with transgendered people using bathrooms and abusing children. That other number, .000012, shows how really small the chances are that something bad is going to happen because a transgendered person has access to a particular bathroom. This is just a non-issue blown out of proportion in the service of nobody.

Why does everyone get so worked up about this sort of thing? The estimate I found is that there are 1.4M people who are transgendered in the United States. We are a population of 320M. Less than 1/2 of a percent is what we're talking about. The likelihood of anyone encountering a transgendered person in a bathroom or anywhere is practically nil. Think about it. I found another link, but now I'm mobile so I can't post it, that talked about the teacher gender crisis in k-8. My take away was that nobody wants male teachers because of molestation fears, but that having female only teachers both reinforces the thinking that teaching is a girl job, and that male teachers, presumably not the molesting variety, bring unique skills that have value at that developmental stage.

I got curious.... Found this interesting Study: Teacher's gender affects learning that said students do better when they're matched with their gender and the teacher's gender. "Dee found that having a female teacher instead of a male teacher raised the achievement of girls and lowered that of boys in science, social studies and English. Looked at the other way, when a man led the class, boys did better and girls did worse."
