Your fine at 25, nothing to worry about, you have plenty of time. Maybe don’t go big law for the 70 hour work weeks, but the hours from midsize firms are not that demanding. If you were 25, only halfway through medschool, and had four years of residency ahead of you, this would be a very different question and decision. Study hard and say “Yes” to your boss early in your career. Learn to say “No” to your boss when you become a mother.

33M here. Yep, novelty / variety is generally a big turn on for us. You don't need a wig or crazy sex outfits or anything. But changing up underwear, tops (bra / cotton cami / silk pjs / nothing), hair style (up / down / curly / straight), and simple positions (front / back / top / bottom) can make a surprisingly big difference over the course of a week of sex.

Get little plants / flowers for the women. Find out what kind of beer, wine, whiskey, cigars the men like and get a buy a decent bottle brand. Smile, insistently offer to help with the dishes and your golden.

Ratatouille is a great idea. I am unable to link but the Wall Street Journal has a great rata recipe from last summer (just google). We then add some andouille sausage to make it a little more “manly”. Rata is also relatively light (compared to rice or pasta dish) so maybe better if you are hoping to get in a good make out session before the night is over!

33 male perspective: Are you perhaps over dressing for the activity at hand? Just saying I could see how a 20 year old dude might be a little uncomfortable if you were wearing a nice dress and HIGH heels if y’all were just going out for a pizza or burger at a casual place. Maybe once he has a real income he can start buying some better clothes too. My style and wardrobe have steadily increased in quality as I age.

Dude here 32M. I got my girlfriend 30F investing in stocks and now discussing stocks and how we did in the market any given day gives us a good hour of conversation / week. Reading an actual news paper should get you some good conversation starters too. From a lot of guys’ perspectives Netflix is a lame hobby. Reading, video games or sports are all good enough hobbies.

As a 32M who purchased a home home with his 30 year old girl friend who had been only dating 1.5 years I can’t upvote this enough.

Assuming he doesn’t have some underlying mental health issue, he needs to grow a pair.

In addition to what everyone else has said so far, some wine or tequila might not be a bad idea in this case (in all seriousness). Are there any bars / restaurants that you can walk to from his home? If so, let him pick you up for a date. Go out around his place, have a few drinks and a good time. Go back to his house for a night-cap / make-out session and then Uber yourself home. Tell him the expectations upfront.

Fair enough. Just one comment on point #3 - it seems a little contradictory to only one want child now and then another in a few years - thats more energy over a longer time period 'raising children / teenagers'. FWIW some people think having children closer in age is easier - changing all the diapers at one time, can be friends with each other, same friends, same sports team, etc. although this is somewhat contingent on having two boys or two girls.

Just a few thoughts from one man's perspective (who would like to have children 12 months / 18 months later than what his girlfriend would prefer). From your SOs perspective, it may seem like you are changing the rules of the game after the fact, which isn't cool. He signed-up for one thing and would now be getting something different. As any human can attest, it sucks when reality becomes different than expectations, especially when it doesn't have to. Being unsure of exactly where you are in y…

I'm not sure why, but the "Mommy" vs. "Mother" thing struck me as powerful and really sums-up the whole single 'mom' thing.

I haven't watched the video, but IMO a bigger problem than mothers (or fathers) viewing their daughters (or sons) as their best friend IS adolescent girls viewing their mother as THEIR best friend. There was some recent study, and it was something close to 50% of adolescents girls (American if I recall) view their mother as their best friend. It also talked about that even pre-pandemic, some majority of adolescent girls spend their Saturday nights watching Netflix, on social media and texting th…

Very true. She could probably bag herself a fat banker with a minor drinking problem with those changes. Assuming she brings good feminine things with her to the table - which we can't tell from this.

A clean-cut wall street looking guy who may or may not wear a tie to work, when working from home through the pandemic? If she lost 100 lbs. and started working as a receptionist for a bank or asset manager she might actually have a chance.

Really fair point. If you have a 'good' education and a 'well paying' but are anxious (from the world around you) and truly lonely its hard to argue that you have been successful up to this point in life.

RE: Atlanta - it may have something to do with being in the South, where people tend to get married relatively younger than the North East or West Coast. Also, Southern (perhaps conservative) men place a relatively higher value on younger, prettier women. Said differently, the South is more traditional than the rest of the country, where traditional = men are men and women are women.

So she will break the man's bank account, but not the horses back. Good to know, thanks

Of course she is a crazy horse girl, gotta have all that country land and money to take care of her three horses. She should have been more honest in her profile and just admit that she is looking for a man with the means and life style to let her play with her horses all day. If she is looking at a proper 'courtship' period she ain't looking to actually bear any children for this man she is looking for. HORSE DADDY.

Without knowing your ages and the timelines you discussed, maybe his "why" is more, "Why are you in such a hurry to get married?", rather than "Why do you want to get married?". The more you push and 'obsess' over the idea of 'marriage', the more he may want to delay (from an ego perspective). From one man's perspective, "family", "home", and "a super lady by my side" are all wonderful ideals. "Marriage" is a rather neutral ideal.

Not so much 'hip' as much as their day-to-day life is so boring and unfulfilling that they need to go places and spend money to make it worthwhile.

Not true - the closest thing they have to friends are their cats and their dogs. Thats what their life revolves around (also true for a lot of women in their 20s).
