I am honestly, truly sad you feel that way. Currently men are not doing well, and that certainly affects how women view men. So it makes sense why women would not currently like men. Women weren’t slaves to men before, they were partners. They’ve not always had it easy, this is true. But to think that women were always in fear for their lives and had to lie to save them? That they never had their own form of power or control over their own lives? That’s simply absurd. People are capable of all s…

Much more paranoid. It was better for women, because they weren’t terrified and angry all the time. They didn’t fear all men. They didn’t blame them for the way things were, and have the scorn and anger that goes with it. It was also better for men, because they didn’t feel judged and anxious all the time.

I think a lot of it is actually just propaganda. Women are more afraid now, in an era where they are safer than ever before, because that’s all they see and hear. I think the important thing to note is there’s a difference between fear and wariness. It’s normal and fine to be wary. But when you start to become afraid of merely being around someone, it’s a problem. Especially considering the way our brains deal with fear. I’m not saying women don’t have lived experience. But, I see how women used…

This is why I enjoyed Kpop Demon Hunters so much, or The Owl House. (Aside from them being good lol) while they’re centered around female protagonists, the men are not portrayed as being evil just because they’re men. sure, there are some men who are bad in them, but not because they’re men. They just happen to BE men. It reminds me that not everyone is sees men as inherently evil. That one day, we might achieve actual equality.

Oh, feminists are for equality. They just think that women are more equal than men.

The whole poisoned m&m example is literal nazi rhetoric and I hear that quoted all the time. These people literally hate men like nazis hated Jews, and sometimes I think the only reason they’re not acting on it is because men are half the population. I’ve got almost every single woman in my life who acts this way too. According to them I’m merely one of the good ones. It’s perverse, vile, and desperately needs to stop. My only hope is that in around ten years culture will start to shift enough t…

I’ll agree that men are blind to women’s issues, and can react negatively or be ignorant of their own hand in it. I’ll disagree that women understand men’s perspective better than the reverse though. Media isn’t representative of men’s experiences, particularly when the perspective of men is that what happens is our experiences are ignored or downplayed. Basically, I’m agreeing with you in that women’s experience isn’t understood. I just think the reverse is also true. If you wanted to better un…

I dunno, I have to disagree that women are coping differently. Women marry across and up, and I think that if there’s no eligible men that meets their standards they actually are happier alone.

Women are better at that, but they’ve also dismantled almost all spaces men had for men. So men could be doing better with socializing but there’s none of those spaces left.

I thought the same as you in terms of stranger danger. I was wary of anyone as a kid. The poisoned skittles is where someone compares men to skittles, with bad men like poisoned skittles. You wouldn’t want to eat (trust) any of them because you don’t know which ones are bad.

In what way? Rather, what do you think the core issues are? I’ve listened to all but Mamdani, and it seems they each earnestly want to help, albeit helping themselves some in the process.

I think what he said is pretty spot on for trying to get women to help. If feminists shut this down, nothing will continue to get done in broader society where it needs to happen. I need to look into it more, but I listen to the Healthy Gamer podcast with Dr K. (A psychiatrist) and at one point he mentions either studies shown or some sort of evidence points to women in particular disliking being held responsible for their actions. (Of course, I could be completely off the mark but anecdotally i…

Great post. Was listening to something with Warren Farrel in it, and he said the same thing. When he was working for NOW, he started to want to turn feminism towards helping everybody as it was getting obvious to him that men needed help too. The women just looked at him uncomfortably, before saying that doing so would take away women’s benefits to help men. Favoring women over men is something we’ve always done as a society. Women have always had power, and were never as oppressed as feminism m…

It’s really sad to see. Feminists are just flipping the script on everything. Where women were once seen as defective men, men are now seen as defective women. Therefore anything that women wouldn’t naturally do is seen as bad and must be changed. Except it can’t, because women are also attracted to those very things they want changed. How many times have we heard ‘We want men to be emotionally open!’ Only for men to be shut down when they are. They want men to be dominant, but don’t want them t…

Because they’re bitter and resentful. They’ve been hurt by the men in their lives, and project that onto the rest of them. Why would you help your enemy? That, along with the subtleties that feminism tells them, that slowly but surely paints men as the hateful enemy, and you’ve got people that won’t even lift a finger to help and actively do the opposite. I almost feel that we need a marriage counselor for men and women - this is pretty much exactly like a couple going through a divorce.

I would say don’t necessarily come at her with statistics, but throw in some examples from your own life. This will make it more personal for her and make her more likely to empathize since she knows you.

I’d have to say yes. As a teenager, I was a definite homophobe. Being gay wasn’t accepted like nowadays, and I felt such disgust and revulsion when thinking about men being with men. I’m grown up, and straight. I don’t feel revulsion anymore. But I know many gay men have struggled with this exact sentiment when they shouldn’t have to. Not only this but giving men the option of feeling accepted no matter who they are - flamboyant, feminine or otherwise - would help them grow as people as well.

It’s strange that the timing is the exact same as when the internet and social media really started exploding. Obviously just conjecture, but I think the social media has been far more detrimental than helpful. I’d almost say the same for the internet as well.

I see what you’re saying. I would say it’s about who matters. In my example, men don’t matter, but women and children do. So I should be expected to lay down my life for a woman or child, because they matter more than a man. But once you throw in that my wife and child will be adversely affected, my value goes up, and it’s ok to not sacrifice myself. In your example, the woman’s wants don’t matter. If she’s free, there should be no reason to not date this dude hitting on her! Oh, she has a boyfr…

This. I’ve found that the only times people care about men are when there’s someone more vulnerable related to them to care about by proxy. People expect me to lay down my life for a stranger... until I tell them I have a wife and kid that I have to live for, and then suddenly it’s ok that I don’t.

You absolutely need to consult your doctor. I am very sensitive to lowering my dosage, that even a slight change could make me extremely agitated. You haven’t said, but does your doctor know you’re tapering off your medication? If the reason is it makes you feel numb, there are other medications out there that might work better.

The one thing that, to me, uniformly makes a man across all demographics is confidence. If you have a style, scent, mannerism, that you like, own it. Take what others say into account, but let yourself be the final judge. Eventually you’ll find what you like. At the same time don’t be overconfident either - too much of anything is a bad thing after all. Just be willing to take advice or change if you need to. One other thing I might mention that’s helped me tremendously is going to therapy. I re…

I would love to share this with my wife. She’s very feminist, and likes to spout things like toxic masculinity and mansplaining, and sees no problem or sexism in doing so. We’ve got a 4 year old son, and I sometimes worry about how he’ll internalize this stuff as he grows older. I just don’t think she realizes what she could do to him, or how actually toxic this rhetoric can be to an insecure child. The only problem is if she sees it’s from anything male based, outside the bounds of feminism, sh…

I think the problem is the inherent stereotypes of men and women. Men are seen as aggressors, while women are seen as vulnerable and frail. So in a circumstance where it’s a man vs a woman, women are more likely to not be as responsible for their actions because they’re seen as needing protection, whereas men should be stoic and tough, able to handle themselves in any situation. Obviously this isn’t the case, but stereotypes and prejudices run deep. Not to mention that women have an entire movem…

I think that men in power aren’t going to have a problem championing it sadly. The in group bias for women is strong, but in group bias for men is almost nil. It’s pet of the problem why men’s issues are largely ignored. They’ve got nothing to lose by gaining power and siding with feminists to make themselves look good, irrespective of what it does to other men. Especially since the culture nowadays is very, very much pro women to the extent that anything pro men is usually seen in a bad way.

I don’t think it’ll change anytime soon. If it keeps going like it has, honestly I see it getting worse. Heck, the amount of people who still believe in the wage gap is mind boggling. Not to mention the people who don’t see things like ‘mansplaining’ as sexist. I’ve got a wife who’s a feminist, and seeing some of the things she says sometimes... I love her, but when it comes to gender matters she’s highly sexist against men. She’s gotten worse as time has gone on (15 years) and I think it’s due …

It would help men find partners they work with, but to a lot of men (and women) finding someone they’re sexually compatible with is important too. I’m glad it’s worked for you, but as someone who isn’t getting what they want from the sexual side of a relationship it can certainly have its downsides.

It’s so hard not to internalize feeling some sort of shame or guilt over being attracted to someone, especially if that someone isn’t attracted to you. The odd thing about ‘rape culture’ is that women expect men to know when to approach and not to approach. Women are better about reading non verbal communication than men, and project that onto men expecting them to also know. To a guy it can feel like things are going smoothly, when it’s the opposite to the girl. I don’t think this would be an i…

It’s so sad that men are always supposed to want sex , so much so that people don’t even consider consent when it comes to us. What you did was perfectly reasonable and yet you still had so much backlash which is the complete opposite of you were a woman. Breaking the stereotype of ‘men just want sex all of the time’ is going to be tough. Honestly I don’t know that it’s going to happen without both masculine and unmasculine men being allowed to show how we really feel.

Maybe this doesn’t belong here, I don’t know. But we face a lot of bitterness and anger from feminists. I think it’s important to not let that affect our behavior and to remember we’re better than that. I post this with the intent to be supportive, and to remind us that their issues are not us.

And honestly, are you not guilty yourself of doing the exact thing feminists do when someone asks questions of them? In order to feel empathy for each other’s issues we have to understand them, and asking questions is a vital part of that. While I agree with much of what you said, I feel it’s important we don’t respond with the same kind of feminist retorts that they do. We have to be better than that if we want anyone to listen.

That is not true. Even if you work 9-5, most places will open at 8, so you would be able to give them a call then. You’re not weak if you don’t work. I read that you hated your job as well, so even if they’re unable to work around your schedule, taking a day off wouldn’t be terrible - it might even be relaxing if you work all the time.

You seem to spell just fine to me, so for a doctor it’ll be no problem. If you don’t feel like you’d be able to tell them your symptoms, then writing them down would certainly work. The only reason they’ll put you in a hospital is if you’re a danger to yourself or others. While you’ve hurt yourself accidentally, I didn’t see that it had been intentional. Even if it was, if you don’t hurt yourself in their care you’ll be okay.

You’re able to communicate quite effectively online. You don’t need to tell him what’s going on, just what you’ve already written and told Reddit. Only this way, instead of having rando’s on Reddit listening, which usually isn’t helpful, you’d have a person with your own best interests at heart.

I’ve read some of your posts, and they’re pretty concerning. I know a random stranger giving you advice isn’t worth much, but I sincerely hope you listen. Please, please get some help, from a psychiatrist, a therapist, somebody professional. You’re hurting yourself, and getting violently angry at stuff you have seen/read. Someone told you that medicine won’t help; that’s not true. It absolutely can. So can talking to someone about it. You’re depressed, so it can be extremely hard to take that fi…

Both men and women are hornier/more aggressive after spending a year in lockdown. They haven’t seen anybody, haven’t fucked anybody, in a year. Still doesn’t excuse their behavior, and I’m sorry you had to go through that.

There was something done about it. The school has apologized after they faced backlash and apparently it was big news around the area. Now you might say that wouldn’t be enough, that the principal or whomever orchestrated this should be fired (and I’d agree) but maybe Australia does things differently.

Yeesh. Certainly seems to be real. It’s so sad. We hear feminists all the time say they know it’s ‘not all men’ and all men are not being blamed for the actions of a few, but when things like this happen it’s clear that sentiment is false.

Honestly that sounds about right for them. I’d try to tell my wife this story, (a... potent feminist and sjw) but I doubt she’d even believe me honestly. Even if she did, she’d probably think something about the story was made up and it was the guys fault after all.
