This is a gripe I have with this sub. It seems like you can only talk about men's issues, where feminists have to be the cause of those issues. God forbid you want to bring light to a male issue that involves attitudes that hurt men that don't necessarily even come from women. I'm really trying to give this sub a chance instead of listening to what others say about this place, but it's not been good so far.

If interpreted in that way, then I guess that wouldn't be sexist. But anyways, "having sex with a minor" is synonymous with "rape"(even though the word rape is used in a lot of these cases, idk where this comes from. The term "sex with a minor" is used in cases of men as well, this kind of seems like a non issue to me. Or is there a legal difference between "rape" and "having sex with a minor" that's worth being mentioned?). Unless there's a case where there's a very small year difference where …

Unless I'm missing something, implying that it would've been okay and not rape if she was "hot" isn't sexist? Does this not both demean women and also insult young men's intelligence? I don't get it.

I've been lurking on here for months, and I'm doing a lot to try and give this sub a chance so I can form an opinion on it myself rather than just listen to what others have to say about it. There are totally legitimate issues raised in here that certainly deserve to be highlighted more, but yeah there's totally a decent portion of casual sexism in here that I've noticed.

Yea for sure I get you. That's a nice analogy as well, I get it lol. And it's true that some women have trauma, and we should never seek to invalidate someone's past experiences. Even if it's blown out of proportion by some, you'll just come off as an asshole. (some people might not care if they come off as an asshole which is fine, but it's just something to keep in mind when I tend to see some other people complain that they're struggling to find love or something, when they're not even approa…

Lmao, you've got a wicked sense of humor I love it! Anyways, in that respect I feel that I am luckier to be a guy. Maybe it's because recently I've had it easy in dating, but I very much prefer to go out and get what I see that I like, rather than sit and wait for someone I like to come along. This is just me however, and I definitely see the appeal, but sitting and waiting doesn't even seem like a fulfilling experience. They're rare, but in the same vein I'm more attracted to girls who approach…

You see, I'm trying to give this sub a chance despite what I've heard from others, but this is why so many people looking to give it a chance often turn away. I see stuff like this too often on here. I'm here to support men's issues, but it just seems like a bunch of negativity on here instead of discussion about solutions etc. I'm still going to stick around however, as I want to form a valid enough opinion to my standards because I personally like to think of myself as a intellectually honest …

I wasn't saying that it boils down to that because that's the way it should be. I was saying that generally, most people aren't consistent at all over whether they should be touched in the workplace by others. People will generally pick and choose to where if they perceive the person doing the touching as attractive, they don't have problems with it, but if they find the person to be unattractive... well you have this very post as an example. This happens to both women and men, so I'd pin this a…
/r/MensRights17/03/21 03:59 AM

Yea basically. This kinda just seems like a non-issue for me tbh. You'd think that people would be consistent, but it really just boils down to whoever is doing the act, the same act that many seem to complain about but only on specific occasions. 🤷
/r/MensRights16/03/21 11:20 PM

Wait... so you're fine with women at the workplace touching you, they just have to be attractive to you? I'm confused.

I guess my understanding is that if it's more deadly, then it should be taken more seriously as just 1 possible solution towards making sure more men(and more people in general) survive more. Or is my thinking too one-dimensional here and that there're other things to focus on?
/r/MensRights11/03/21 04:46 AM

Do you think that men maybe not taking the illness as seriously might've contributed at least somewhat to the disparity shown? Genuinely asking.

I think you're assuming that they're assuming. Nobody assumes that 10.7 is larger than 9.8. You can say that they think the women's issue is more important, but it doesn't say in the post that women are more affected tho.

I'm referring to the ideology itself, yes I like to think that I'm an intellectualy honest person, and even though I'm hardpressed to believe this, I'm definitely willing to change my mind on this if you could convince me to. I certainly do believe that a significant lot of rhetoric today is anti-men, but I don't believe that feminism is inherently against men.
/r/MensRights24/02/21 07:57 PM

Wait I'm confused, are you saying that feminism is inherently anti-men or that every single feminist is anti-men?

This is interesting, I had never heard of this before. Thank you for opening my eyes to this. This was introduced because of a campaign to protect mother's rights during the "tender" years of a child's life. Even though this doctrine has been replaced is most states, it's still practiced in many places. Let's zoom out and show the bigger picture however. That's right, it's time for some more nuance. Father's previously had sole rights to the children because of the notion that his women and chil…

I dismissed your point because everybody else whose rational would as well. You can't just make an explicit statement with a percentage, without having a source ready to back it up. One way to work towards a solution to this that anyone can do would be to try and dispel the toxic notions that "only women should be taking care of children at home" or "men aren't as qualified emotionally as women to be caring for children" on a societal level. This is a way for you and anybody for that matter to be a part of a solution if you don't want to get involved politically/legally. I'm sorry you had a legal dispute over your son. It's such a shame that this had to happen, as paternal courts have shown time and time again that it is biased against fathers. If you didn't know why this was the case, it was actually because of the misogynist nature of the past, when women were expected to be the primary caretakers of children. This is why it's easy nowadays for women to win these court cases, because of the implications of the past that paved the way for what is happening to t…

You're making a jump somewhere, and I don't think it's justified. When he responded with "a lot of what men suffer today is because of other men", I think it was to just dispel the common notion that it is women and only women who are to blame for the societal problems men face, which is not the case. Basically what I'm saying is that it was likely to "clear the air" so to speak.
/r/MensRights24/02/21 04:09 AM

I'm still waiting for evidence. I too can say that the moon is made of cheese, but the statement holds no weight if I don't back it up. I'm literally extending my arm out to you in good faith, but you're not helping yourself.

Black person: Lots of people are killed in my neighbourhood White person: But it's black people who are killing other black people, sooo.. This is statistically true, what's wrong with saying that this is an issue, and then working from there to come up with a solution? This is a statistic that mostly gets thrown around in bad faith, when it can be used to help people.
/r/MensRights24/02/21 03:52 AM

So an example of sexism towards men is saying that a portion of problems men face are caused by other men? I'm trying to understand what you mean. Not to mention, I don't think it's "steering responsibility" from women if it means looking at the bigger picture.
/r/MensRights24/02/21 03:47 AM

Yes, because there's nuance to the world, and not everything should be viewed with the one dimensional lens that "men are the only oppressed". What are you on about? If we're all for helping men, we have to realize where some of the issues are coming from, no?

An example of a conversation in the thread Society doesn't give a shit about you unless you're a woman, child, or part of some 'oppressed' group. Men are constantly seen as disposable and blamed just for existing. We're shamed for having 'loser' hobbies, we're shamed for things we can't control (height, dick size, baldness, etc) we're constantly told 'not to rape' as if only men can rape, we're told to show our emotions more often only to be mocked when we actually do. 78.7% of homicide victims …

Everybody has some sort of privilege. Men have privilege over women in some things, and vice versa. "Privilege" doesn't mean every single man or every single woman has it better. It's a step towards realizing where any discrepancies can be, and trying to fix them to make society better. Looking at just one side of the aisle I don't really understand, and I apply this standard to everybody I talk to.

/r/MensRights21/01/21 06:24 PM

Well, I'm glad to see that we agree, but I don't personally identify as feminist myself. I would moreso say I'm an MRA or even just egalitarian. I will say, it feels odd branding myself as anything because I don't really practice any sort of activism in my real life, I really just talk about my beliefs with others online just hoping to spread the message. Like I'm not organizing any events, marches, or get-togethers or anything.

I guess it's just a change in language I suppose, if that's what feminist means nowadays. That's not what a feminist is to me, I simply call those what they are, misandrists because that's what they are. But if they took the word "feminist" by the neck and changed it into what they're now calling themselves then I guess I'm wrong by that metric. Regardless, I will stand by what I said, and no I'm not adding any weight to their disgusting cause. I will not let you put that onto me, I'm willing to…
/r/MensRights05/12/20 01:41 AM

In the same vein that you don't see feminists posting these kinds of things on men's day either. The ones who do are not feminists. This word gets tossed around so much it's difficult for actual feminists to be heard because the misandrists are always the loudest, claiming to be for equality. hint hint, they're actually not. They're for women supremacy, not equal rights.
/r/MensRights04/12/20 09:23 PM
12

Yea, I'm going to be honest, I thought about this as well. But then I also thought, that there are actual people who don't care about men's rights and are just grifting so I left my comment as is. You do however still bring up a good point.
/r/MensRights04/12/20 08:02 PM

What you said about me using the word "incel" in this case, is completely fair, I just got a little bit heated. As for joining FDS, I'm gonna have to take a hard pass on that lol. I do very well believe he's a fallen angel, in the sense that it is unfortunate that he grew up in an environment where behavior like that is encouraged and he has my pity for that. I would extend my same frame of thinking to incels as well.
/r/MensRights04/12/20 07:45 PM
-13

Exactly, it's amazing how a comment like his really brought out the incels in here huh? Not only does he make a good point, he even ends his comment on a positive note, a note that we as Men Right's Activists should ALL strive for but just look at the replies. It's a damn shame.
/r/MensRights04/12/20 06:41 PM

Exactly. Let's not turn it into a competition over who has it worst "because when men do it, it's not okay". Being that type of person in both scenarios straight up, isn't a good look. Women and Men both face issues, and we are all just looking for constructive ways to fix them, Feminist or Men's Right's Activist.

The sub was good while it lasted.

I'm a teen too, don't worry about it bro. For me, the hate ended with me leaving Islam. That was my way of leaving the hate, I challenge you to do the same, but in your own way, whether it's through leaving the religion, practicing it peacefully(which I'm sure you already do), or anything else. The key is to getting the hate out of your heart. Do it your own way. I almost fell down the rabbit hole of hating women and homosexuals, and I've never been happier since I got out of that toxic mindset.
/r/PussyPassDenied20/10/20 05:03 PM

It's good that you're standing up as a man and apologizing. Not a lot of people can do that and I commend you for it. As for what I meant about "brown people" a lot of people not only hate against Islam, which is the religion to be separated from the people, but are also hating against Muslims which is the more irrational thing to do. It also adds to fact that some of these people are racists, and Islam is a religion comprised of mostly "brown people" and that is another reason to hate on them.
/r/PussyPassDenied20/10/20 04:38 PM

Lol, hating Islam and hating Muslims are 2 different things. I hate Islam because I don't like the hateful ideas it promotes. I don't need to delve into the specifics. I realize that there are Muslims who don't practice the hateful parts of the religion, anybody with half a fucking brain realizes this. The people who don't are simply bigots and just don't like "brown people".

I'm confused, where's a woman trying to claim her pussy pass? Unless... is this an excuse to jab at women? No it couldn't be.

"If a man has to talk to random strangers to get a gf, then that's a massive red flag. Most likely shows that he has no social skills." One of many comments I just found in that sub. Yikes.

This sub isn't a hate group but there have been an uptick of posts where there aren't even pussy passes being denied, just women getting owned regardless of whether they're trying to use the pass or not.

It's not a pussy pass at all. It just fits the criteria of posting an 'annoying/obnoxious woman' which is most of this sub at this point.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
