Well my mom was stay-at-home when she married my stepfather, so I would visit my dad whenever he had a day off from his job. How it works now is I'm with my mom for two days, then I go to my dad's house for two days. The process repeats from there.

I am actually in the same situation as the op's children are. My parents have had dual custody of me since I was an infant and it never was exhausting. For age reference, I'm 16.
