Your statistic is also for mining and geological engineers. Which are not the same as miners (http://www.bls.gov/ooh/architecture-and-engineering/mining-and-geological-engineers.htm). The thing is the Military is exactly like the trades with two exceptions. If you have 4 years of experience doing electrical work your probably in the journeyman category for an electrician. I certainly civilinizeds a bit when I came to the workforce, but I have had HR people at fortune 500 companies in America tell me they don't count military experience as work experience for post college jobs. Same person told me that they wait at least two years for you to get out.
