2	Advice on if I should get rid of a new truck So the thing is if it was new last year you are probably stuck with it to an extent. Cars never depreciate like they do in the first year. Most people are under water for the first couple years they own a new car. If you are dead set on getting out of it, you could find something cheap, take the trade in value and finance what's left with the cheaper automobile, it won't take you completely out of debt but I imagine would lower your payments substantialy.
