I'm certainly no expert on it, but I'm not the one claiming the possibility of two people mutually abusing each other can't exist. Seems quite conceivable to me that it could happen, so how does someone go about proving that it is absolutely impossible? Smells a lot like bullshit. Do you sniff test anything you read, or just take it as gospel if you like the concept?

Are you some leading authority on the topic? Why would you "absolutely" deny the existence of something? How can you be certain? Do you want the question of identifying the one and only abuser in a relationship to some sort of finger-pointing "he/she started it" game? Gravy.

I get what you're saying and agree to a certain extent, but you can't say that mutual abuse doesn't exist. Are there people out there who snap after being abused who should be treated as a victim? Absolutely. Are there going to be couples out there who are spitefully abusive towards each other? Sure. If someone attacks you, you can defend yourself, but if you then find out where they live and attack them a few weeks later, that's not self-defense. Same principle.

Had my hopes up briefly that perhaps this site was taking a step in the right direction to clean out some of the hate against men. Quite frankly it'd be great if they banned more subreddits. If they take an even heavier hand to moderation, more people will leave and hopefully other alternative places to go will be created and developed. Reddit can fester and be left to be the hateful echo chamber it clearly wants to be.

Honestly, I’m trying to reduce the amount of social media I take in, not increase it, so I got nothing. Likewise. Posting on Reddit often seems like a waste of time and I certainly give some thought to torching my account again.

My opinion: studies are at best indicative and more often than not completely useless. You're not really getting a sample size of the general population, you're getting a significant sample size of people who have the time and inclination to take part in a study. As a rule, that's typically not hard-working blue collar folk or professionals in demanding roles. Pretty sure MRA's are honest about their intentions. Feminism is the only group I've seen use double-speak and pretend that they're seeking genuine equality and care about men's issues when the advocacy is very much one-sided.

Being against welfare doesn't make someone a misandrist, it means they don't believe in handouts. Does that make people unkind? Reminds me of an article I read a few days ago. A couple had a baby that died of a lengthy and severe period of mistreatment from both mother and father. The man is off to jail and the woman was spared because she accused him of being abusive. While looking for that one again, I came across a lot of other articles. The first link is from the standard census we fill out every handful of years... which is delivered to individual homes. You're right, I doubt the homeless men on the streets are filling out and returning their census forms.

I think you're being generous. Perhaps there are some who have tunnel-vision trying to solve problems for women, but I think there is a large number of people out there in these positions who are happy to minimize the support available for men.
