It doesn't really matter what the intention is, the result is that it seeps into the subconscious of girls and negatively impacts their life without being totally aware of all the consequences. It's not a case of seeing it and being offended, it's a case of recognizing internal strife caused by the objectification. It does loads of harm to the psyche, which is why I'm in this thread making these points, because I've expelled the consequences first-hand.

Because women being portrayed unrealistically in videogames is a male oriented fantasy, whereas them portraying themselves unrealistically is their fantasy. One of the big reasons women fight against these portrayals is because it impacts their self esteem and make them feel like they have to portray themselves unrealistically to feel comfortable in their own skin. This isn't proving your point, it's proving theirs. The fact that they are getting shit on for this only further goes to show the am…

Here's the thing: there are absolutely people who would be shitty like this, but that doesn't change the fact that there are an equal amount, if not even more, of people who would joke with their friends like this. That means the likelihood of this being what OP has inferred is not high enough to believe it, and even after understanding this, if you'd still rather insist it should be believed, then you are the type of person I made my original post for. Just imagine posting an innocent ribbing o…

It's posted to a sub where content is meant to be about shitty individuals though. In this instance we're supposed to assume they were being a shithead. It's literally the point of the entire subreddit. So you're argument is that you're supposed to assume a specific narrative about every post here? You don't see a problem with being fed how you're supposed to feel about potentially innocuous things? Let me put it to you this way; how would you feel if you joked around with a friend on Twitter on…

It's super telling about what kind of people browse these subreddits that they don't think for a moment that these people might be friends in some way. I could see myself having this exact exchange with many of my friends. To interpret this undoubtedly as genuine hostility, that's a sign of a distorted social perceptions, likely caused by social isolation at best, and social conditioning at worst. I say that sadly, not mockingly, and I only recognize it because it's something I used to do (proba…

"Men's Rights" is absolutely used as subterfuge and bad faith by people here. You're absolutely kidding yourself if you think otherwise. Furthermore, the term "Men's rights" doesn't imply criticism of feminism, it's supposedly supposed to represent the injustices that men face in day to day lives, yet I primarily only see it used as a home for closeted or internalized misogyny. You do realize that if you swapped the nouns we'd be making the same arguments as one another, right? The difference is…

This is such a distorted perspective. I truly feel sorry for people who believe that. Every group of any type has a shitty vocal minority and they should be called out, however you guys are dog whistling just as much, if not more, by willingly treating feminism (or maybe just generally women?) as something to look down on. The dog whistle in this instance is, of course, "men's rights" which every day seems more and more of a guise for anti-women.

This isn't even kind of true. Jesus, you people are willingly brainwashing yourselves against feminists.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
