Some people hear average and don't realise just how much the top percent inflates it and assume the worst. What about this is factually incorrect? Distributions like this have a large discrepancy between mean and median.

I'm not sure how wrong he is. O think when most people hear "average" they think mean, not median.

Homeless female parent = windfall pot of gold rainbow jackpot, free everything. No wonder so many women are lining up to be homeless single parents.

I’d love to hear the argument that Gerwig deserved to be nominated for best director over any of the other directors, I see people saying she did a better job than Philips did with Joker, but I haven't seen either, so I can't comment.

Skyscraper grossed $300m worldwide. Baywatch was $178m. Dude makes a lot of money for studios, even for crappy movies.

Or less women are hired by producers, which is Rose McGowen's point in the OP.

How are you going to give an award for Best Director if you don't reveal the directors' names?

It wasn't that they lost, but that they weren't nominated at all. Part of the problem is that of the films eligible for the Oscars, the number directed by women was probably very small. But if it was over 20% then you'd expect to see one get nominated. Little Women was directed by a woman, and nominated for Best Picture; there has to be some correlation between the two categories, so it's not unreasonable to argue that maybe Gerwig should have gotten a nod.

So it's not even just a matter of them thinking you were a random man and not her father. They didn't even bother to ask where her father was or if you were her father The whole story reeks of bullshit.

The guy doesn't even know what the reviews about him say, or why he was fired in the first place In another sub, the San Jose Mercury News story was posted: “Liberman stated that she was terminating (Ard) because she had not received a requested breakdown of (his) duties. (Ard) had already provided that very information as requested, however, and reminded Liberman that he had done so,” the lawsuit said. “Liberman’s excuse for terminating (Ard) was a pretext.” Right after the call, Ard requested …

From her column it sounds like they didn't finish. It doesn't appear that rape occurred. Maybe sexual assault, but even that seems slim (according to her story).

This wasn't about misogyny, it was about self-interest. . . .The problem, when it really came down to it, is that Chinese couples would rather have sons work to support them instead of changing their expectations of men and women. To the extent that the one child policy cause female infanticide and abortions (I wonder what the number is, it could be significant), the fact that men were preferred over woman because of earning potential is evidence of gender discrimination at the societal level. I…

A little too much here to respond to tonight on my phone, but I rechecked the top 4 link of that Google search and they don't match what you're seeing. Maybe we are getting different results for some reason (e.g. location, search history, etc.) I'll try to post links to the stories tomorrow.

And if she were a man she would have had the book thrown at her, even if someone didn't die from it and even if it was in a dangerous situation. I commented here, listing 8 examples where men or boys shot people and got probation. Five of them resulted in death. Two resulted in relatively minor injuries. One left a woman in a wheel chair. Here are four cases where men got probation for manslaughter. Three of them involved cars. The fourth involved dogs. There is also a fifth story of a man who s…

women usually serve about 30% less jail time Tourist here from /r/all. Do you have a source for that?
/r/MensRights09/01/16 01:48 AM

Perhaps, but both men and women have received probation for manslaughter, both in cases where they killed people with a gun and in cases where the death was caused by a car (and in one example I found, by dogs).

That's evidence, but doesn't actually prove anything, since your selection is not representative. Sure, but it's as representative as OP's evidence. The point is that both men and women have received probation in cases of accidental killing by gun. A more exhaustive study of data would be required to establish is there is any systemic bias against either gender.

A lot of what I found were incidents that resulted only in injuries, but there were plenty of deaths too.

it's a little more difficult to convince someone that you accidentally killed them with a gun, a tool for killing. I disagree. In 2013, there were 33,636 deaths by firearm. Of those, only 11,208 were homicide.

not a murder, irrelevant. That's a fair point. I included it specifically because it showed a high degree of intentional violence by a man perpetrated on a woman. I think that's relevant to the discussion of discrepancies in how the courts treat female-on-male violence compared to the opposite. His dogs, not him, killed someone, IRRELEVANT The crime is still manslaughter. The lady in OP behaved irresponsibly with a gun and someone died. The man in this story behaved irresponsibly with (obviously…

The top four results for "accidental shooting probation" are male perpatrators that all got probation. The first and fourth resulted in death. The second and third resulted in injuries. Number 9 link, a guy poaching deer with his friend shot and killed the friend and got 2 years probation. The 10th link is a 15 year old who got probation for accidentally shooting and killing his friend. Then there's this guy who shot and crippled his girlfriend (confined to a wheelchair) and got probation. Anoth…

If you can't keep gender out of your judgments Where does it imply that gender played a role in the sentencing?

The victim was an adult. Here's a man who got a deferred sentence for slamming his (female? they have children) partner's head against a wall. Here's a man who plead no-contest to involuntary manslaughter (his dogs killed someone) and got a deferred sentence. Here's a man who got a deferred sentence for manslaughter. Here's a boy. Same story. Here's a guy who hit and killed a cyclist. Probation. EDIT: Here's a better list of men who accidentally shot and killed (some are only injuries, including…

You're arguing that woman work 78% as much time as men, thus explaining why they only earn 75% per capita. But the 78% figure is aggregate person hours. When you factor in the lower number of woman in the workforce, they actually work, on average 91% as many hours as men. The White House report states, "women earned about 75 percent of what their male counterparts earned in 2009." It sounds like you're saying that this 75% "gap" is based on total income (across all women). My interpretation is t…

Women work (44/56)x100=78% as much time as men. Kind of explains the gap by itself doesn't it? No, actually, it doesn't. What your pie chart shows is that women work less total hours than men. However, according to that White House report, only 61% of women are in the labor force, compared to 75% of men. There were roughly 121m women 18 and older in 2010, and 114m men. This means there were approximately 74m women and 86m men in the workforce. Based on the total number of hours worked (255b) and…
