It says in the article that the reasons lesbians were not targeted as much as gay men was because men were considered to be more important, and that women had less important roles to fill, so lesbians were not a threat to the Aryan vision. It's definitely ironic - the system which favoured men over women ended up punishing these (specific) men more than their female counterparts due to their views on gender roles.

Corrective rape is a really terrible issue, I read an article about this same incident earlier in which it said that there are girls who are lesbians whose male cousins are brought to rape them. It must be absolutely awful for them.
