Does it help to ponder something that you neither have control of nor have proof of (and likely never will, in your individual case at least)? I'll tell you right now there is not one person here who hasn't wondered whether or not they were turned down from a job because they didn't meet an Affirmative Action quota. In cases like these I advise caution in blaming lack of success on discrimination when you don't know for sure that you're being turned down because of race or gender. It leads to a victim mentality and that can be self-fulfilling, especially if its not based on anything substantive.
