The patriarchy does exist. It's old white men who have the money and means to oppress people around them, and get away with illegal activities. The problem is that isn't any of us, and probably not many born after 1960. In our culture we perceive sex as something a man does to a woman, when it should be something that two people do with each other. So that website in continuing the stigma that the woman had sex done to her, and that that man did sex to someone else. It makes no sense.

Because Reddit is a broken ship. Venture Capitalists invested in Reddit and shoved it full of their own people, and she was one of those picks. They're trying to squeeze out as much money as they can to get their investment back. Not improve the quality or experience on the site, or its future.
