It wasn’t a waste. I’m not documenting every detail of what I did with my family. The hours in the evenings I had extra I either caught up the domestic tasks that still needed to be completed or I was with the family. Or both.

OYS 17 41, 176cm, 85kg, BF20% (Navy). Married. Two kids. No gym no lifts this week. Been in isolation with the family since last OYS as the boy brought covid home. No gym, no runs, no sport. Not a great week diet wise either with food delivery limitations. The worst part is I caught it last so I still have another 6 days in isolation even though the other family members are close to finished. The isolation has been a good opportunity to lead. Faked a bit of oak, found a bit of real oak. Things w…

OYS 16 41, 176cm, 85kg, BF20% (Navy). Married. Two kids. 5x5 - SQ 60kg, bench 50kg, BB row 60kg, OHP 35kg, DL 80kg. Starting the progression again now injuries are mainly healed. Been supplementing with swimming. Had a good week overall. I stayed on track with family interactions. More fun, no arguing, good sex, happy meal times. I’ve done well largely ignoring the small stuff and giving my time when asked for. I gave in on a few things that were only in my head over the last 2-4 weeks and to be…

OYS 15 41, 176cm, 85kg, BF20% (Navy). Married. Two kids. 5x5 - SQ 60kg, bench 50kg, BB row 60kg, OHP 35kg, DL 80kg. Keeping lower weights constant while I heal. Should be good to increase again from next Monday. My diet and exercise outcomes have been a bit of a mess. My fitness is increasing but muscle mass and fat have been static for a while now. I need to shake things up. Socially things have been good. Things are going well with the new football team. I’ve got a tennis game I organised with…

It didn’t bother me. It amused me. I didn’t want to do something, so I didn’t do it. Why are you all so focused on it? She was 100% marking her territory - only time she initiates contact is when I’m leaving to go out socialising - and I didn’t want that.

OYS 14 41, 176cm, 85kg, BF20% (Navy). Married. Two kids. 5x5 - SQ 60kg, bench 50kg, BB row 60kg, OHP 35kg, DL 80kg. Deloading across the board due to multiple injuries. Two new ones this week from slipping over in the garden and smashing my hip and toes. Joy. My body is beat to shit. Injuries from lifting, football (soccer) and domestic accidents have taken a toll. The weird thing is I mentally feel good about the pain. Working through and around it in the gym is a satisfying challenge. Struggli…

If you’re at risk of being accused of sexual assault or worse by your wife you need a divorce lawyer, not a marriage councillor.

I know just enough to know I don’t know enough. The last couple of weeks I’ve definitely been able to detect my own bullshit more. It’s somewhat comforting that the vets can spot my particular fuck-tard pattern from miles away. It means there must be a way out. It’s not a heap of fun being sliced open like I was on this OYS but it sure as hell helps.

You got a fair chunk of that more or less right. The only significant difference being I would not start over with someone else. This is my last relationship no matter how or when it ends. I read the post you shared, video I’ll get to later today. What I keep learning is I haven’t nearly finished breaking myself down yet. It’s a slightly painful process that every time you figure out how or why you have fucked something up horribly, the next week or so later you find out you’re even worse than t…

Doing 5x5, squat I probably started a bit too heavy. It’ll work out over time. DL tomorrow to retake the lead.

I recognise the issues you raise from reading older OYS entries of people much further along. I’ll go STFU and think about it a bit. Thanks.

You’re not wrong. It’s not about running out to spin plates, it’s about acknowledging to myself that I have and want options. If something comes along I will do it if I want to, instead of not doing it because other people think I shouldn’t.

I agree with you for the long term. Until I’m a person she will take direction from without causing me a headache for trying I’m just going to STFU and take action instead of talking. Is the current plan sustainable long term? No. Is it necessary triage to manage daily issues? Yep.

The first time I read the oldest teenager piece it was a revelation - she is 100% that. As for how to handle it... I’ve tried a few things but nothing direct worked so my current strategy is to take control of the kids and sideline her until the issue is resolved, then go back to what I was doing. Talking to her about her causing the issue or expecting her to fix it never got me anywhere. I treat it like having to fix an issue at work when a junior fucks up. Step in, fix, step out.

Not my calm, the children. Eg. They are playing happily and she’ll say something for no reason that puts them into conflict with each other. She’ll often say after order is restored “I don’t know why I did that”. That being said your point is still valid about her impact on me in general. Working on it.

I thought about what you said and then channeled it into finishing a couple of sets that were kicking my ass towards the end. Got my last reps done and it really did help. I had to focus and summon up the angry thoughts but then pushing through the exercise made them dissipate again. Like you said, fuel. Thank you.

True. Maybe if I rephrased it as “being angry with people is a burden.... ” it would fit more what my thoughts are.

Thanks for the feedback. I know I have to put real effort into the exercises. They are extremely confronting in many cases and that lack of comfort I guess is why they are there. Sharing some of these things with another person is daunting. As for SGM... reading to understand myself rather than to change things, does that make sense? It’s like the conditioning has been at war with the instinct and I’m finally ready to fuck how I want to fuck. Life is not a Disney movie. I never had an issue havi…

Lack of leadership. Lack of conviction. Lack of consistency. Appealing to rational thought and ignoring emotion. Not wanting to fight my wife for control. Not phrasing my input in a way it will be received well. Talking too much. Not talking enough. Being butthurt. Being moody. Being resentful. Being angry. Being a robot. Being too strict some days and too lax on others. Lots to work on.
