It’s not necessarily a “women’s problem”. Women shouldn’t be compelled to deal with this, especially if they should somehow give up their freedoms to do so. I just don’t think it’s the toxic conversation that a lot of people think it is. It is a problem, and I think it’s not a bad thing to want more men to be in happy relationships as long as it’s not at the expense of women’s own happiness. I think it should just about finding ways to make more win-wins. Declining birthrates are a blessing in d…

Women are the ones keeping us all productive and in check.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/05/25 02:04 PM

If everyone could have sex with attractive people as easily and as often as they’d like. Nobody would get anything done.

No. Because if it was at the expense of women’s freedom. It wouldn’t be a happier society, obviously.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/05/25 01:25 PM

If men were experiencing the same subjugation as women have historically and in some countries today (which they’re not), that would very much be a bad thing. My response has nothing to do with taking away hard earned women’s rights or subjugating anyone. It’s about how we foster a happier society for everyone, which should require none of the above. Edit: I might have misread you slightly in my first paragraph, feel free to ignore if that’s the case. But my second paragraph stands.

This always gets framed incredibly poorly by both red pill men and feminist women. There is an issue in the western 2020s world, where a lot of men are struggling to find relationships. Anecdotally women I’ve spoken to also have the same problem, but in manifests more in unsatisfactory relationships, and failure to find long term fulfilling relationships. Red pill men will sometimes insinuate that women “owe them sex”, by suggesting that more women should be more open to relationships with men t…

I think this is dead right. It just comes down the power dynamics on a macro scale.

Sure but that’s outside the norm. And not what you see on a macro level. Both women and men do a lot of stuff that doesn’t line up with biological drives and population norms over time.

People don’t like to hear personal criticism. Especially critiques of their private and intimate lives. It’s not surprising she acted the way she did. It makes people naturally defensive. You’d probably have had more luck empathising with her, rather than trying to tell her men won’t want her because of a past she can’t change. You suggest she didn’t empathise with you, but it sounds like you didn’t either.

Well it obviously depends on what you value in life. And what the average person in a society values. If you value freedom of thought, expression and self determination. Not having the right to vote or carry out certain occupations is a form of oppression. The case that being forced to fight in conflict is equivalent to being forced to be a human incubator is subjective. Certain forms of oppression are perfectly able to trump other forms. It’s also about power dynamics, what gender has the most …

It’s fine if you personally don’t want to date somebody because of their sexual past. But if you’re declaring that men won’t want to date her because of it, then I can understand why she’d be upset. Even if you’ve got great statistics and analogies to back it up you’re making an unhelpful generalisation than certainly isn’t always true. She’s not even necessarily wrong when saying it’s about insecurity and jealousy, for a lot of men that’s exactly what it is. But I agree she’s probably being a b…

I reckon it’s as simple as one person wanting something romantic or sexual, and the other person not, but they’re happy to have you around as a “friend”. They can either be oblivious to the other person’s affection, well aware but ignoring it or unaccepting of it, or maliciously keeping them around for self esteem. Or it can be complicated and messy. I think the other person has to explicitly not want a romantic or sexual relationship at the time for it to be considered the “friendzone”. I think…

All sex is arguably pretty gross. Having sex is only not gross if you’re attracted to person you’re having sex with.

I think it’s just a loose set of rules women have for looking out for one another. Girls at school, college and university probably develop it into a slightly more rigid structure amongst their friends: such as not dating each other’s ex’s, or covering up for each other’s wrongdoings. It’s probably a bit more established than “bro code” because women have certain biological differences like pregnancy, periods, health and vulnerabilities that they’d rather keep men out of. But the vibe is just on…

Sure, I’m don’t mean that everything on ppd is bullshit. Just a lot of it is. What I’m calling out are the concepts that get preached on here regularly. About what you need to do and be to find a relationship.

Asks women an honest question. Woman gives an honest answer. PPD men can’t handle honest answer. Shocker

Want proof that this sub doesn’t match with reality? All you have to do is go to a supermarket and look at the sort of people who are actually in couples. Of all ages from 18 to 60+. You’ll see normal people with varying looks, wealth and personalities dating other normal people. Want to see some weird non-normal behaviour? Go on a dating app, visit a nightclub at 2am or see what people are saying about relationships on PPD.

I don’t think men necessarily make their own discrimination, though both genders are perfectly capable of it. Masculine and feminine ideals are upheld by all kinds of people regardless of gender. My point was more to do with these sorts of issues being nuanced and complex as opposed to outright discrimination perpetuated by women. But regardless, I just wonder what kind of answers OP was expecting. Women care more about women’s discrimination, than men’s discrimination, shocker.

I don’t think it’s helpful to get obsessed with definitions. Feminism’s definition has been flexible since its conception and will likely continue to be.

I think you can probably make the case for things like the draft, or harsher sentencing for men for the same crimes. But both have perfectly good justifications that even men will fight to uphold. There’s also more complex abstract societal issues like men being less likely to get child custody in court, or increased homelessness and access to emergency housing in some counties. But it’s hard to pin all of this on “discrimination”. These kind of debates can get toxic fast when you wade into the …

I think some of this is true. For example, I think a lot of men are porn addicted and have had their desires quite horribly shaped by this. It’s actually a silent disaster imo. Whether this transgresses to hyper sexuality I don’t know. Though it’s certainly clear from research that testosterone raises libido and makes men more visually stimulated than women to quite an extent. Evidence from trans men on HRT seems to indicate this. The lack of the commitment is completely untrue. At least anecdot…

This is the number 1 problem with dating apps imo. There’s no soul to it. Dating apps are quite literally marketised blind dating. And in doing so, enforce every single unrealistic toxic male and female pre-requisite of each other. You have to be perfect in the first 10 seconds. Everyone either acts either like an obnoxious c*nt or a desperate loser based whomever thinks they have the best profile. Meeting someone in real life is 1000% better in every single way. And I’ll die on this hill. Of al…

I think this is really why birth rates have dropped. Your average developed community in the US or Europe is just completely unfriendly to children. Most of the time it’s completely unacceptable to have children around (e.g., the workplace where we spend most of our day). We idolise a nuclear 2 parent household with a stay at home mum. So people feel they’re not ready for children at 20 because their lives aren’t together yet, When all this was really a 1960s historical fluke. When for most of h…

For most of non-hunter-gatherer history… you’d probably have had your marriage arranged for you by your family to the local maid of the same social class. Had 9 children. Then lived on your family farm. Or been granted a dwelling by the local feudal landlord in exchange for extortionate rent and working their wheat field for 12 hours a day. All before dying of plague and leaving everything to the 2 children who survived.

I think it's easiest to be in the 3rd camp. Anyone can bang into Google scholar "climate change is exaggerated" and find a decent skepticism paper.

I've always hated the phrase "educate yourself" whenever it's used in any kind of argument. Tends to be used most when people are debating identity politics.
